  1. When I first saw this story a day or so ago it only showed a picture of her…and I thought, yeah, I could see it (she is kinda homely looking). Then when I finally saw a picture of him I thought “Oh HELL no” because he is even worse looking (IMO).

    Of course, as a man trying to judge another man’s looks I could be wrong on that. Ladies?

      Truck driver’s licenses… medical degrees.
      So, this is a cultural norm.
      The girl’s wearing WAY too much makeup for assessment, or even consideration of assessment.

          But that’s the 3 second game.
          Combinations of intelligence, common sense, sense of humor, curiosity, morally sound….
          that’s the real game, the long game if you will, which can override the 3 second banalities.
          …and you could very easily generate a very similar reply.
          Can’t imagine what it’s like to be “out there” these days.

  6. the false accusation reminded me of my own experience in my mainframe senior operator days.
    quick version, it was still morning and naturally being a pig l got the munchies and calculated if l need to deek out quickly best do so asap before things pick up.
    just before l left l put a tape online and the moment l got back l read all the accumulated card decks in.
    both actions created time stamps in the log file.
    come Monday l get accused of f’ing off for 3/4 hour. it was actually HALF that, consistent with the handwritten log.
    hmmm.
    so l inquire Danny the wonderfully friendly and brilliant student technical advisor how to draw entries out of the log file, which l do, print the log including those entries, hilite them and present the printout to my boss AND make a counter-complaint against ‘whomever it was lied about the time span of my absence’.
    my supervisor took it from there.
    but l wasnt finished. l was ALSO taking courses at that university and before the next lecture started, l loudly and broadly ‘told the gathering a story’ about how l outed the LIAR as a ‘joke’. my REAL intent was to ‘send a message’ dont EVER try to falsely accuse me of ANYTHING.
    it worked. it was the only such complaint. l went on to graduate about 3 or 4 years after that.
