  1. Attention passengers. All flights the day after payday are automatically cancelled .

  2. Communications with air traffic control will be interesting. Instead of the standard “Hi-How-Are-Ya, Hi-How-Are-Ya“ greeting it will now be “How-High-Are-We, How-High-Are-We“.

  3. A de facto Crown Corporation pushing government policy instead of generating revenue. This time, people may die so the Lieberals can virtue signal and check off boxes.

    1. Speaking of characters … that’s what I appreciate … flying in a massive, complex, machine invented by colonists … operated by a museum display of cultural peoples in their native costumes.

Pssst … Air Canada … you’re not “reconciling” anything. In fact … you’re simply amplifying the anachronism of cultures.

  4. Why is this an accomplishment? Nobody has been stopping Indians from doing anything they want for at least 60 years, with whitie likely paying for the complete education. Back in the 1970s, kids from the NWT and Indians got a full ride to attend university – tuition, board, travel, books etc. They likely still do.

    1. My late sister had a Master’s degree in Adult Education and made her fortune as a credentialed evaluator. She did a lot of work with various First Nations in Saskatchewan and had a few succinct comments to make about education.
First, people MUST have respect for education (in all of its forms) in order to succeed in modern life. Apparently, you just cannot do much with a Grade 8 education. I worked at a national residential cleaning company in Calgary and moved up to office manager (learned Quick Books as well, which was invaluable). Most of the women employed only had Grade 10 education (as soon as they turned 16, they quit). The company DID hire people from Africa and from the first nations. And the above comment is correct, they lasted 3 weeks until they received their first pay cheque and then disappeared, Human Resources calls this a “loose attachment to the workplace”.
Second, all of the treaties signed by the British Crown and then by Canada stated that ALL forms of education would be paid for, This could be offered as the governments just “knew” that there would be very little uptake on the offer. In fact, I had an aboriginal tenant who went back to the well of government money twice and then tried for a third time (she had post secondary education to become an aesthetician and to work in hospitality, primarily Indian casinos). The government denied her third attempt and she continued to work as a cleaning lady. She would be about 45 today and is probably still complaining about how “hard” her life is.

    1. “As we fly, let us remember that the air beneath our wings was passed through the butts of the following 136 first nations and their kin from here to Brazil,,,”

      1. My people still tell of the Great Fart of Thunderfish that first gave us air, of whatever quality.

    1. Of course they look white. Whitie has been banging their women for 400 years ago in the east and 250 years in the west. Look at Indians from the 1885 rebellion. They had very distinctive Indian features. Today they all look off-white and most of their leaders aren’t distinguishable from whites except for the whine.

  6. Today, we’re proud to celebrate an Air Canuck flight operated by an all-Old stock Canadian crew. In partnership with all honky whites, conspiracy theorists, and maga, and Air Canuck we continue walking the path towards reconciliation and representation in our industry, and pledge to spread TDS where ever we fly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  7. BDT’s comment has the gold medal locked up, but let’s go for bronze:
—“This is your Air Sweu-qha’uvchew//awa Captain speaking; once we reach cruising altitude of 37,000 feet, we’ll conduct the airspace acknowledgement that we are in the traditional air flight corridors of the Ooga-booga-hi-ya-bye-ya, the Mxyzptlk, and the Hekawe FFNs.”

  8. Getting off the reserve is the first step in normalization. Getting a job is the second. Too bad it’s used as racist theatre in this case.

  9. Are they going to wear their traditional garb in the cockpit? Or will they be allowed to burn a grass smudge when they start feeling a bit off? Asking for a friend…

  10. They’re appropriating Orville and Wilber Redenbacher’s culture of discovery of the airplane.

  11. I bet they can’t land the planes upside down like the ladies.

    1. Confucius say … woman who fly upside down, has hairy crack up.
Sorry. Yes, I’m still a juvenile at heart.

    1. Bannock was introduced to the Indians by Scottish “colonists”.

  12. Makes me kinda glad I don’t travel as much since retiring. I was consistently a 35K or 50K member on AC since 2000. Grams isn’t into traveling, never really was, and has a case of TDS, so southern winter vacations have been curtailed. I blew out my knee last summer so no golf trip this year.

Traded in all my AC miles for gift cards last year (LCBO had the best rate) and don’t feel obligated to align with them when I get back to traveling.

    I don’t think I’ll miss them.

  13. “Only some accounts can reply”

    Such COWARDS.

They must have known how this would be received, so why even bother doing it? The comments are indeed brutal…I couldn’t even find *one* post supporting them. Found quite a few “I’ll never fly Air Canada again” posts, though. Count me in that group as well.

Twenty years ago if I saw a Black or female pilot entering the cockpit I wouldn’t have thought twice about it, because I knew they were given the job by actually qualifying for it. Now? Makes me nervous.

  14. Finally some good news in this cis pit of negativity. I am eagerly seeking out details of this flight crew so I can book people on my Special Outcomes list. They deserve it! And you do too: that warm feeling that comes from doing business with an un-registered Insurance provider. You have people on your own Special Outcomes list: why not make the step and contact an un-registered Insurance provider to get them the coverage they deserve. You can thank me later. I care.

  15. I can’t wait until they demand to talk to traffic control in their native languages and take that to the federal Canadian Human Right Commission.
