Have they finally had enough?

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin was projected to be ousted in a recall Wednesday, marking a stunning setback for progressive advocates of criminal justice reform.

The Associated Press called the race around 12:04 a.m. ET.

Boudin’s loss is the latest and loudest signal that voters’ appetites for reform is softening amid a nationwide spike in violent crime. His replacement will now be chosen by Mayor London Breed (D), who is expected to tap someone with a more moderate reputation.

Boudin, who was raised by communist terrorists
, benefited from Soros money in his election campaign in 2019. He has overseen a rise in violent crime due to lax prosecution policies.

Stuffing people who need drug or mental-health treatment into free or low-cost housing has proved disastrous.

The horrors of [single-room occupancy hotels] were put on display to the public in a recent San Francisco Chronicle feature. The story tells of people living in buildings with collapsing ceilings, toxic mold, vermin, noxious odors, constant noise, broken appliances, and unchecked violence. It also notes that at least 166 people fatally overdosed in these hotels in 2020 and 2021. This official number, however, is suspicious for being so low. San Francisco’s medical examiner reported at least 1,300 overdose deaths citywide in the last two years, most commonly for illicit fentanyl combined with other drugs.

How can the places that the city has deemed appropriate for the economically distressed be so bad? It’s not because of a lack of funds. San Francisco has an eye-popping $1.1 billion homeless budget, much of it spent on such supportive housing.

Union Pacific is considering changes to rail operations including avoiding Los Angeles County as a rise of cargo theft in the area hurts business.

It’s not exactly clear how the Omaha, Nebraska-based company would carry out such a threat and use alternatives to the nation’s largest gateway for imported goods. But what’s obvious is the railroad’s frustration with the lack of deterrents for committing crimes like trespassing and theft along the current route.

(If you shoot them, they will go).

Hear my prayer.

I don’t understand why the GOP doesn’t seize on this and make it the centerpiece of a national campaign ad. Check out the rest of the thread.

Hear my prayer;

In 2020, as an emergency measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the California Judicial Council, hoping to prevent COVID’s spread, had implemented zero-bail schedules to reduce jail populations. Senate Bill 262 was later introduced in another of a series of attempts to eliminate most monetary bail. For reasons having nothing to do with protecting health and safety, Senate Bill 262 would have made the schedules permanent.
