8 Replies to “California Ends Mandatory Reporting On Students Who Threaten Schools”

  1. The ACLU, eh ? Lawyers advising on not acting so that when an ‘incident occurs’ there will be a need of lawyering and much public money spent on the various law suits. An other version of doctors knowing cures prevent repeat business.

  2. The explanation by the assemblyman who wrote the bill was that the cops are being called for just about everything and he wanted to separate out serious crimes that need their attention vs trivial things like name calling. My daughter works as a teacher’s aid/para educator with 6th graders and the cops have been out 4 times this year to lecture the class when one student used the “N” word on another or something similar. It’s stupid. I only heard about it on the news, but if stops that but allows them to call the cops on students for serious threats and violence as he states, I support it.

  3. today’s lesson children: mixed messages. where they happen and the consequences.
    ?
you dont know what that word means? oh, uh, its when, uh, trying to think of an example . . . .

  4. The decriminalization of criminal activity isn’t going to end well … err, ISN’T ending well … as we are all experiencing it now. How long has the FBI been ignoring criminal activity and threats … because the criminal is a member of a “protected” group? Lots.

  5. Meanwhile, in Calgary, all public threats are encouraged to be reported!

“The amended Public Behaviour Bylaw, which restricts harassment of another person in a public space, goes into effect on Wednesday. Calgarians will be able to report instances of street harassment in public spaces (restaurants, sidewalks, libraries, etc.) for investigation, and an offence of the bylaw carries a $500 fine.”

“This includes conduct, comment or action that refers to a person’s:

    Race
    Disability
    Age
    Marital status
    Source of income
    Family status
Gender, gender identity or gender expression
    Sexual orientation
It also includes sexual solicitation and advances.”
