  1. San Francisco will never be fixed. What will happen is that the outmigration of the middle class will simply continue until SF resembles more and more Sao Paulo on a bad day. There will only two classes: a large group of the very rich, a huge underclass of the impoverished, all trapped in a system which only rewards progressives. Gavin Newsom the current state governor is a political beneficiary of this political corruption as he was Mayor of SF before becoming state governor. He profited personally from this system, and so will all those who imitate him for success.

The only end to this can come when the Big One ripples down the San Andreas fault they way it did in 1906 and sweep the city into the bay. Sometimes things are so far gone that the only remedy is to level it to the ground and start again.

    1. I think you’re overly optimistic. The middle class people who move out are the people who provide the goods and services which make it an attractive place for the rich. When all the retail and service industry have been finished off even the rich won’t want to live there anymore.

  2. Fascinating interview on how machine politics destroyed San Francisco. It starts with do gooding liberal voters, and politicians who are absolutely loyal to the machine and will tell any lie to get elected.
