National Post- The most nonsensical Trudeau gun ban yet

So, if you were legitimately rounding up a bunch of guns “designed for the battlefield,” it would be very strange if that list contained a bunch of firearms chambered in .22 caliber.

But this one does. Most notably, the list includes the GSG-16, a .22- caliber “plinker” rifle that is occasionally sold in pink. There’s also several guns made to look like famous military rifles, but which have the very non-military capability of firing .22 bullets one at a time.

Montana Attorney General Says Royal Canadian Mounted Police Were Trying To Spy On US Gun Shows:

Republican Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen said Monday that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) sought to conduct surveillance at several gun shows in the state, a request he vehemently rejected.

He said the Canadian agency contacted the Montana Department of Justice and Division of Criminal Investigations about observing gun shows in Bozeman and Kalispell.

“My hair is absolutely on fire,” Knudsen said in an interview with Montana Talks radio.

“Lost”

CTV News;

In total, 122 handguns, 55 shotguns, 23 rifles, three submachine-guns and two machine-guns have been reported lost by RCMP detachments across the country since 2020. Canadians are largely prohibited from using or acquiring machine-guns and submachine-guns, which are fully automatic and capable of rapid fire.

The data, which was obtained through an access to information request, also shows that nearly a dozen RCMP firearms have gone missing so far this year.

Now Is The Time At SDA When We Juxtapose!

June 28, 2010: Justice Breyer, with whom Justice Ginsburg and Justice Sotomayor join, dissenting.

In my view, Justice Stevens has demonstrated that the Fourteenth Amendment’s guarantee of “substantive due process” does not include a general right to keep and bear firearms for purposes of private self-defense.

True North News- Toronto police to target tow truck turf wars as shootings spike by 74%

Since Jan. 1, there have been 26 tow truck-related shootings and discharges, representing 12% of the city’s total shootings and discharges.

“Towing conflicts in the GTA have historically been about territorial disputes and rivalries. However, it’s important to reiterate that this issue involves a very, very small segment of the towing industry,” said Matthews

“It seems gun violence in certain parts of Canada is so common that some in the towing industry believe that public shootings are a feasible response to competitive pressures,” said Giltaca.

Johnson revealed that 85% to 90% of handguns and assault rifles being seized from the crimes are coming from the South of the border, primarily from Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Michigan.

Blacklocks-  Gun Program Fizzles

The RCMP in an Inquiry Of Ministry said it had 2,123 blacklisted firearms. A third, a total 723, were surrendered by owners. Another third were seized in police investigations.

Cabinet in 2020 blacklisted hundreds of thousands of high-powered firearms. Federal consultants counted 110,161 affected by the ban. The Department of Public Safety later estimated the number was as high as 200,000 while the Budget Office put it up to 518,000 firearms.

Cold, Postal Hands

Canada Post is refusing to collect firearms that were banned by the federal government in 2020, complicating Ottawa’s plans for a buyback program to remove 144,000 firearms from private hands, federal sources say.

The Crown corporation informed the government of its position in a recent letter. It said its decision was based on concerns about its employees’ security, according to federal sources who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

One key source of concern being cited by Canada Post is the possibility of staff conflicts with gun owners who have been asked to give up their so-called “assault” or “military-style” weapons, which can no longer be used or sold in Canada.

Good for them.

Self Defense in the Rainbow Nation

At one time I was told that legal, personal ownership of a firearm was extraordinarily difficult in South Africa, but it seems that times have changed. That won’t stop the BBC, however, from trying to frame the problem as one of gun ownership as opposed to a criminal justice system that has largely collapsed along with the economy.

For the last six years Penson Mlotshwa has been carrying a gun with him wherever he goes in the South African city of Johannesburg. To the shops, restaurants and even the gym. His gun has become an extension of him as the country battles record levels of crime. “I’m not a fortune teller – I never know when I will be attacked,” the YouTube content creator told the BBC.

“Unfortunately, I’ve had to use my gun multiple times to protect myself,” he sighs, explaining how a man wanting his wallet pulled a knife on him after dinner one night. He drew his gun and made the mugger hand over the pocket knife, which he threw in the gutter.

Good News For Snowbirds

If guns are made illegal, only illegals will own guns.

U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Coleman of the Northern District of Illinois referenced lower court rulings in dismissing firearm possession charges against Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who was illegally or unlawfully in the United States when he possessed a handgun in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago on June 1, 2020. […]

Carbajal-Flores was charged under Title 18 of U.S. Criminal Code, which legally disallows undocumented individuals to possess firearms and ammunition “or to receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.”
