  1. Didnt see a breakdown on the percentage of gun owners that had a restricted license.
    Not that its worth much any more but you never know – some day soon it may change.

  2. “Self defense” being more for security guards like Garda and others, the odd trapper or wilderness worker, I believe there are only a couple of people authorized to carry for personal protection, in the whole country.
    Just try writing “self defense” as your reason, on your PAL application..

  4. So get a pal and make yourself a target. I guarantee in the province I live in far more than 1 in 10 own firearms. But it is very useful to make people into criminals.

      I buy ammo in bulk and I need a PAL to do it.
      And to go to the range and shoot my guns safely.
      I have a driver’s licence as well.

  5. With a voting base of approaching 2.5 million maybe it is time for the shooting community to start laying down the law about the rights of gun owners. As we see more and more violence across the nation the PPC and the CPC should take a stand and put gun ownership and the right to own a firearm on their election platform. The incrementalism shown by the Liberals and the NDP to seize, confiscate, and outlaw guns is a dire warning of where they want to take this country. The first leader to take the position of removing the gun registry and implementing a reasonable restricted licence, ownership of handguns, will have an automatic 2.5 million votes. As we are seeing in America with the rising crime rate, the policy of “serve and protect” by a police force has drastically failed.

    1. The ar15 ban is being appealed after the judicial review concluded by a conservative appointed judge that of the government says guns are bad then guns are bed. A few dozen people are paying 10a of thousand each along with the ccfr and appealing. The judge to add insult to injury is allowing costs awarded to the government because it’s obviously not a public interest issue. Only a few dozen people are fighting it. The numbers don’t lie. If 2 million gun license owners had joined the case and paid a buck each I’m sure the outcome may have been different.

      So be it. See if I feel so neighborly in the future.
      Liberal disarmament plan is full steam ahead and most gun owners think it’s just fine.

  6. Remember when groups couldn’t get program money or liberals couldn’t join the Liberal caucus unless they signed a documehnt stating that they were pro-choice on abortions?
    The Liberals should put their money where their ethics are and forbid gun owners from joining the Libearal Party. They should proudly not accept gun owners votes. I’m pretty sure that if Liberals don’t have access to guns, the gun related crime rate will go down. Interestingly, nobody asks gun criminals which way they lean politically, Socialist or normal. If you know a gun criminal, which way do you think they vote?

While it’s a fact that a lot of new PAL license holders are adding to the numbers, (finally, they seem to have seen the light) as a community we are still fractured, due to different factions arguing with one another over the minutia of what is the best way forward. There are many who think owning “restricted” is silly, and needs to be done away with. There are many fools and idiots within our community that unfortunately agree with the liberal agenda. If we could agree together as a group we would be a political force to be reckoned with, but that ain’t reality. We are fractured and the liberals are trying to take advantage of that fact. Personally, I think an armed society would be a much more civilized and polite society than what we currently have now, but that’s just my small considered opinion. Most Canadians just want to keep their head in the sand and their fingers in their ears, and singing loudly to drum out any reality that may hurt their feelings!

      I’ve met quite a few of those firearm nerds at the range who brag about supporting the restrictions/ bans because it won’t affect their precious niche collections.

      Their day will eventuality come like everyone else.

      1. Thanks Paul, When they eventually get to those “niche” collections, the rest of us will already be gone, and they won’t have any support left from anywhere. Thus they will also lose their precious firearms. Just what the liberals want, and what “they” are to stupid and gullible to understand. From the libs perspective, we are the threat, the criminals are assisting the government, and keeping the public fearful, so the public demands the “government” should do something about rising crime! A nice revolving circle jerk.

  8. An R PAL is just the licence own and take a restricted firearm to the range. Handgun or long gun. It’s the ATC that is the licence to carry a restricted firearm. Carrying a non restricted firearm is usually found in hunting regulations and not the firearms act. An ATC is quite pointless without the right to defend yourself and in Canada, this is not allowed. In Canada you will be a victim. If you try to defend yourself the police will be all over you like stink on a skunk as they vigorously enforce their monopoly. Problems arise when the police consistently fail to do the defend the public as is painfully evident across this sad country.

  9. If govt was truly interested in our safety and security as well as property rights they would encourage self protection and firearms ownership. But, govt would rather we be killed off!

  10. Shrug. A majority of PAL owners would agree with the statement “all assault rifle style firearms should be banned.”

      For anyone with ,even that basic course on firearms,knows that “Assault Style Firearms” is pure BS.
      And when you ask the “Assault Gun” Banner,where you can acquire such an amazing tool…some times you start them thinking..

      Every long gun user,would love to have a “Media Assault Gun”.
      Self loading .self aiming ,self firing…What more can it do?
      Gut,skin and dress your Moose,with free home delivery too.

      When we open hunting season on “Assault Style Liars”.Will there be a bag limit?

  11. The case for confiscating private property the government doesn’t like will be made with guns. Easy target, thin edge of the wedge. For your safety, of course. And since there is a climate emergency, all kinds of undesirable vehicle and natural gas burning machines may need to be retired in the future. To keep up safe.
