Y2Kyoto: Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho!

Central heating has to go!

The Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed global warming regulations aren’t just about stemming global temperature rises — according to agency’s chief, they are also about “justice” for “communities of color.”
“Carbon pollution standards are an issue of justice,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy in a teleconference call with environmental activists. “If we want to protect communities of color, we need to protect them from climate change.”
McCarthy is referring to the EPA’s proposed rule that would limit carbon dioxide emissions from existing power plants. The agency says the rule will not only help fight global warming, but will also improve public health as coal-fired power plants are shuttered.

DON’T EAT THE CANNED FOOD!!!!!!

02.08.2014We had a foretaste of being encumbered by ice a few days ago when we attempted to reach Arctic Bay, an Inuit settlement about 100 miles south of here. Soon after we had entered Admiralty Inlet that leads to Arctic Bay, we were quickly surrounded by ice. We gave up and turned around, but progress was occasionally impossible and it took us several hours to reach open water.

Update!

We Need A Famine

And we need to pledge to one another that, when it finally comes, we will eat the “environmentalists” first.

In February 2014, Fortune Minerals was given Ministerial Approval by Saskatchewan’s Minister of Environment, to build a minerals processing plant near Langham, SK. However, since that time, environmental groups have been posing unregulated questions – sometimes hurling inaccurate claims at the project ranging from misguided to deceptive – which may lead to the project not proceeding.
The RM of Corman Park will soon be requested to grant rezoning approval to Fortune Minerals for the plant to be built – by a vote of the councillors – and should the environmentalists have their way, this will not happen. And given the councillors answer to their constituents and the constituents have been fed a barrage of misinformation by those same environmentalists, the vote may not support Fortune Minerals.
The council vote could – in effect – overrule the Provincial permitting process.

After roasting them over the dried husks of weak-kneed politicians who have forgotten that functioning democracies do not subvert themselves to the demands of the unelected fringe.

Know The Enemy: Deep Green Resistance

Deep Green Resistance was founded by the authors of a book of the same name, a nasty set of activists named Derrick Jensen, Lierre Keith, and Aric McBay.
They advocate a method known as “decisive ecological warfare” designed to destabilize and ultimately overthrow capitalism, industry, agriculture and civilization itself. Their unambiguous aim is to return the earth to a more “sustainable” position. In caves, presumably.
DGR calls itself an “above ground” eco-activist movement and tries to associate with many fringe enviro or aboriginal activist organizations. However, the book and its authors also call for parallel “underground” operations, which include isolated and covert operative cells. Their above ground arm seeks to support activist movements publicly, but their underground arm may recruit from these same groups.
Unlike previous ecological terrorist movements, they advocate for destruction of property and, if need be, assassination of the purveyors of industry. They justify it in that industry proponents are killing people already and as such are potentially viable targets. If innocents are killed, their excuse is that industry caused the deaths, not them. Their valued targets are those critical ties to infrastructure which could cause cascading effects to industry if impacted. These include power substations, pipelines, lines of communication, transportation hubs or water control.
Brian Lilley interviewed McBay on Byline in 2011 and wrote a blog post on the book.

They are currently known to be operating in opposition to the Northern Gateway, but were also present during the Rexton, NB anti-fracking debacle.

Indian Government Advised: Outlaw Greenpeace Funding By Foreign Interests

In a fresh report submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office and the national security advisor, IB has called for foreign donations to Greenpeace to be put on “prior category” list so that permission is taken before any money flows in for funding its activities, news agencies said on Wednesday.
The IB report also listed 12 foreign nationals who have been associated with some NGOs in their campaign against coal mines, power projects and nuclear power plants.

This Is Awkward

Greenpeace loses millions in donor contributions;

The Amsterdam-based not-for-profit revealed on Monday that it lost €3.8-million ($5.6-million), after a well-meaning employee entered into a contract intended to minimize foreign currency exchange costs, which instead turned into a big loss. […]greenpeace.jpg
The loss is being publicized ahead of Greenpeace’s 2013 annual report, which will show the organization is running a deficit of €6.8-million, including the mishandled currency trade. The group’s global budget last year was €300-million.
The loss is a blow to the Greenpeace brand. The organization took to social media to connect with devotees and apologize for the process failures that led to the loss. Since Greenpeace doesn’t accept donations from governments or companies in an effort to maintain its integrity, contributions from individual contributors are paramount.
