We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars

Our smarter new Governor just can’t catch a break.

Honda Canada released a statement on Thursday, citing evolving business conditions, a change in strategy and shifting customer demand, as the reasons for the indefinite suspension of the project. The company intends to refocus its efforts on hybrid models.

On Thursday, it was reported the company had recorded its first ever annual loss of $2.7 billion, due to heavy costs for its electric vehicle plants and U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies.

News of the carmaker pulling out of the EV project was first reported by the Japanese publication Nikkei Asia last week.

It takes real zeal and ideological blindness to keep on trying to impose a failed technology,by force of government.

The Electric car lost the competition for customers business in the 1890s.
The Electric car lost out to the Steam car, which then lost out to the internal combustion engine.

If air pollution was the true reason for encouraging non emitting vehicles, then Golf carts would be legal for road use and on bike lanes..they are not.

The idea of Mandating one technology over another,is classic authoritarian policy.
These fools and bandits ,who lust for power, somehow believe they know and can control the future.

Time, way past time, that we reward them for their stupidity.

Yes, and 90% or so of all vehicles manufactured in Canada go to the USA…so no access to the American market means no auto manufacturing in Canada. You would think that a smart and fearless Prime Minister (or so his supporters claim) like Mark Carney would figure that out and make immediate plans to deal with it, right?

  5. I like Honda.Acura, they have quality products, and think they’ll be just fine, next year.
Canada will be stuck with the #Libranos though,
and I expect Alberta will be having a referendum, 19 October 2026
