  1. Just watch, someone will argue that ‘there oughtta be a law’ against black umbrellas because they’re scary looking.

  2. Typical of a prog “university”.I mean, jeez, that umbralla could have been loaded with an RPG! Shows just what our so called centers of “higher” learning are producing. They can’t even tell an umbrella from a real gun.God help us all.

  3. Methinks Mary Poppins would be considered a terrorist in this ‘modern progressive’ age.
She was also a nanny…shaping young minds!
America you have sunk to such lows.

  4. I see both sides of the story.
For one, assault-style umbrellas should be banned, because high-capacity umbrellas can generate confusion.
On the other hand, you cant carry and conceal when it is over a certain barrel length.
And can the victim-suspect demonstrate basic training in umbrella safety?
The only solution is a new law. Vote progressive.

  5. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, it says these SWAT team guys shouldn’t be trusted with toy guns, let alone real ones.
The suspect has his hands in the air and is being searched. He obviously has no rifle, yet 2 or 3 SWATers have their rifles trained on him. Aother SWATer is walking between the suspect and one of those rifles. Maybe he figures his flak vest gives him immunity. And then another 3 SWATers have their rifles pointed at random unrelated targets.
What IQ level do these guys have? If these guys have real bullets, then if someone said “Boo”, one or two of their own people, as well as the guy with the umbrella, would be dead and random bullets would be flying all over campus.

  6. “What IQ level do these guys have?”
These are the guys who dropped out of high school, could not pass the Armed Forces physical, and became rent-a-cop in the so called police force. And you trust these guys?

  7. I find it interesting that those who fear guns the most and call 911 when they see a suspected gunman walking around are also unable to tell a real gun from an umbrella or, in the case of the caller at Sheridan College a few years ago, a camera tripod.

  8. They are po’ white trash.
An older generation of Americans knew that their police forces, most of them, were of dubious quality, and
would never have thought of arming them heavily. The usual club is quite enough.

  9. The indoctrination of fear is complete.
I am fortunate to live across the road from a large park on the edge of town. There are ponds and marshes and it is a great place to photograph birds. When using a long lens I almost always use a monopod for camera stability. I was walking home one day (3 or 4 years ago) and came within 50m of two young couples…people raised to fear. One said, “Look, he has a gun.”
Fortunately, there were no sirens, handcuffs or choppers.
    Morons.

  10. Remember what happened in LA during the Dorner Manhunt?
The LAPD shot up two little old Hispanic ladies. Eight cops fired 103 rounds at a truck. None of them could ID who they were shooting. Some cops emptied their pistols, reloaded, and emptied it again. Other blazed away with shotguns and buckshot. Miraculously, neither lady was killed. And no one else in the neighborhood was shot, although their houses sure were shot up.
Minutes later, a few blocks away, a Torrance cop rams a different pickup and dumps rounds into the airbags trying to kill the driver. The driver was a white guy, not an African American like Dorner. Luckily, he too missed from 6-10 feet away.
Scared cops are dangerous cops. And too many of them are scared shirtless. And they overcompensate by becoming trigger happy goons and bullies.
Minimize your interactions for your own safety.

  11. a few yrs ago a black guy was suing Georgia state because he was rejected for having too high an IQ to qualify for a state trooper job. His IQ was 110, nothing to brag about:-))

  12. Mary Poppins was probably an UNLICENSED nanny!!!! And not a member of a teachers’ union!! Oh the horror!

  13. “Oh, it’s just an umbrella, False alarm.”
    “Like hell, cuff him anyway.”
    “Why?”
    “Procedure.”

  14. What is remarkable is that some police departments through their lawyers testified in court that they deliberately choose only people of average intelligence. Normally in any organization there are people of average, above average and really high IQs and the more intelligent ones rise into the leadership positions and the average ones stay in the ranks.
What happens in the long term when everyone in the organization is mediocre and the organization only promotes from within?

  15. I prefer a sawed off umbrella myself, 12 guage. Easy to hide under the Kevlar Burbury.
Those over and under umbrellas are good too.

  16. Yeah, those guys pointing their weapons in various directions don’t give me much confidence in their common sense. They look like 12 year olds playing Arnie and Jesse in “Predator”.
SWAT teams are infiltrated by wanna-be soldiers, who as JT said, don’t have the balls to join up and fight against REAL enemies.
Send all the SWAT teams over to help out the Kurds for a few weeks, then they can play soldier and actually shoot at someone dangerous instead of having a good time bullying innocent citizens.
I hope the victim here sues the ass off the cops for their unbelievable over reaction, but I doubt in today’s America he’d have chance in hell of winning.

  17. “What happens in the long term when everyone in the organization is mediocre and the organization only promotes from within?”
    It’s called the civil service.

  18. I have a black, semi automatic, power assisted (deploys with one click) umbrella equipped with a telescopic stock. I wonder when Trudeau grabs power will I have to register it or will I have to surrender it to the state? Also, if not confiscated will I require an authorization to transport? Will I be allowed to deploy it outside of a certified umbrella range? Will Chief Umbrella Officer be allowed to inspect my house to verify safe storage? When I reapply for my permit will they be asking my wife if she has any objection to me owning said umbrella?
One last question: before the invention of velcro that makes everything look tactical (even pink T-shirts and short pants while pointing an M4 at a photographer), who was tying the shoes of those officers?

  19. Classic overkill. It just proves my contention that “progressives” are just phobic of guns. Like people who are scared of little rodents, wasps, or spiders. The over reaction is way out of proportion to reality.
Guns scare these people silly. Even an imagined image or one made up in their minds.

  20. _ and of course none of the prog zombies who feel “safe” because of this excessive display of armed force and paranoia, see the inherent danger in crying “wolf” too often.

  21. “What happens in the long term when everyone in the organization is mediocre and the organization only promotes from within?”
Ya end up with Bill Blair as Chief of Police….

  22. “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” ~ B. Hussain Ogabe

  23. “What happens in the long term when everyone in the organization is mediocre and the organization only promotes from within?”
You get Very Special Forces: http://www.theonion.com/articles/clinton-deploys-very-special-forces-to-iraq,645/
“We also send the equally important message to our own troops that what’s important is not whether you defeat the enemy, but that you try your best and have fun.”

“but even if they make a few mistakes, we’ll still be very, very proud of them.”
Cohen stressed that the safety of America’s special forces is of paramount importance. In an effort to reduce the risk of anyone getting hurt, the Defense Secretary has urged all U.S. troops to tie their shoelaces “nice and tight.”
“Whenever you’re in a combat situation, there is almost always going to be some running involved,” Cohen said, “And the last thing we want is for any of our soldiers to trip and fall.”

  24. This would all be much less amusing if one of those itchy trigger finger morons had shot this guy.
But then we would never have heard about it. Because he’s White. So, you know, no rioting.
Rick in BC called it. One guy pointing at the “perp”, what in h3ll are the rest of them pointing at? They’re situated like guys who have been trained to act like they’re surrounded by armed hostiles, but not very well trained because no use of cover/concealment and they’re pointing at their own guys. Plus, what kind of uniform is that? Flack jacket and shorts? Come on.
First impression, the safest place to be is where these idiots are aiming. They look like they couldn’t hit a barn from the inside.
