Now Is The Time At SDA When We Juxtapose!

A full read of Glen McGregor’s “concerns” to recent state funerals in Canada provide great insight:
2011-08-24: Layton’s only second special state funeral
2014-04-13: Why a state funeral for Jim Flaherty?
Would most reasonable people conclude that the 304 words for the column about Layton constitute a fair and balanced objection compared to the 1,464 words against about Flaherty?

Return of the Count

On Thursday, John Gormley hosted Michael Ignatieff (mp3) on his show. Interesting interview, I’ll probably buy and read his book.
Odd juxtapose happening if anyone has been paying attention to the world that Liberals inhabit.
There is a very different narrative about Ignatieff now than they offered to Canadians up to May, 2011.*
But yeah, the CPC is evil incarnate. Or something.
* Any perceived associations regarding coronations, inexperience, and vacuous policies in posts about previous leaders and current leaders of the Liberal party are entirely coincidental.

Dec. 21st:

“They offered a paranoid, dystopian vision of a more dangerous and violent America where everyone is armed and no place is safe,” said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
(…)
“They were blaming it on all kinds of other things instead of guns themselves,” said Medea Benjamin, co-director of women’s peace group Code Pink, who was escorted out of the briefing after holding up a poster that read “NRA blood on your hands.”

Sept 29th:

In a statement corresponding with the announcement of COPS grants, Attorney General Eric Holder said, “In the wake of past tragedies, it’s clear that we need to be willing to take all possible steps to ensure that our kids are safe when they go to school.”

February, 2009 “I am outraged by Sarah Palin’s promotion of this cruel, unscientific and senseless practice, which has no place in modern America,” actress and animal activist Ashley Judd said in a press release. “Because she is apparently determined to continue and expand this horrific program, I am grateful that Defenders will aggressively fight to stop her. I am proud to be a part of that effort.”
June, 2013 “Noah and me working with Canadian wild life officials to cull seal population near Rankin Inlet. Over population of seals is causing great damage to local fisheries. Thousands of seal pups must be culled each year. We worked with trappers who taught Noah how to identify the weak ones.”

By juxtaposition! Paul Wells of Maclean’s magazine shows fairness–from the “Comments” here (timing for comments will change):

Next you’ll be posting the views of Stormfront or some other bunch of haters.
This would be the same SDA that mocked camp survivors a wee while back, would it?

In fairness, I should acknowledge that I did read that SDA post before writing this one.

1) David Brooks:

Shai Agassi’s company, Better Place [hurl], for example, has generated glowing magazine profiles, but it has managed to lose more than $500 million while selling astoundingly few cars. He stepped down as the chief executive, and his replacement lasted only a few months. It turns out that the things that are sexy to politicians and paradigm-shifting to conference audiences are not necessarily attractive to consumers…
By 2020, the United States will overtake Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest oil producer, according to the International Energy Agency. The U.S. has already overtaken Russia as the world’s leading gas producer. Fuel has become America’s largest export item. Within five years, according to a study by Citigroup, North America could be energy independent. “OPEC will find it challenging to survive another 60 years, let alone another decade,” Edward Morse, Citigroup’s researcher, told CNBC.
All of this was accomplished by people who exist largely beyond the reach of the lavalier-mike circuit.
Joel Kotkin identified America’s epicenters of economic dynamism in a study for the Manhattan Institute. It is like a giant arc of unfashionableness…

2) Spiegel Online:

The Price of Green Energy: Is Germany Killing the Environment to Save It?
The German government is carrying out a rapid expansion of renewable energies like wind, solar and biogas, yet the process is taking a toll on nature conservation. The issue is causing a rift in the environmental movement, pitting “green energy” supporters against ecologists…

Federal NDP leader Thomas Mulcair said reviving his party in Saskatchewan is one of his highest priorities.
“We’re going to continue to be here. We’ll be here every step of the way,” Mulcair said in a speech to Saskatchewan NDP members Saturday.
“Together, we will succeed.”

March 12, 2013

In a whirlwind visit to Washington this week, Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair is bearing an entirely different message from that brought by the parade of Conservative leaders who recently invaded the U.S. to sell the Keystone XL pipeline.

In related news, Saskatchewan NDP leader Cam Broten could be heard swearing in his office.

Any predictions on when the Egyptian Night of the Long Knives will occur? Or will the Children of the Arab Spring in Egypt recover their liberty through a series of really clever Tweets?

October 5, 2012 – What the higher powers in Calgary want you to see: A “Lib Dub”, copying what Grand Rapids, Michigan did two years ago.
September 15, 2012 – What they don’t want to talk about: Muslims insisting that negative comments about Mohammed be outlawed in Canada * (with all women praying behind the men) **
* – A key player at the protest was none other than Syed Soharwardy, a man who saw no problem with trying to silence Ezra Levant.
** – Incidentally, the entire issue of the “trailer” on the Internet that they were protesting has since been shown to not have been the cause for the violence that killed the American ambassador in Libya.
