I was impressed with a comment elsewhere: if Assad and Obama actually make a weapons agreement, will Obama have to keep Assad in office?

Israel thinking that the Sunni rebels are a lessor evil rings a little hollow. Yes Hezbollah wants Israel destroyed as well as Assad and Iran. The reality is that the civil war weakens Syria even if Assad survives.
The question to ask, if the rebels win, is how long before Jordan suffers the same fate. If Jordan’s Royal family is ousted the last vestige of sanity disappears in the Sunni dominated parts of the ME. Egypt is already on the Saudi payroll.
Putin’s Russia has far more hands on experience in dealing with these nutbars. The USA should adopt a more balanced approach and let the Saudis feel some pressure for the actions they have instigated.

Yeah that gun-free military base situation has been a gradual thing fer a long time…..but armed MPs were present.
Even Canada deployed militia (reserves) to the sand box because of demand for MPs for base security in the sand box.

The leftists—all of us, actually—inhabit a reality where American soldiers have for the most part retained their faith in God and their loyalty to the United States, no thanks to policies intended to promote sodomy in the ranks and drive Christians out of them. Conversion to Christ in the US armed forces has become widespread enough and troublesome enough to our masters that they think it expedient to court-martial soldiers on trumped-up charges for merely being too openly Christian and conservative, or eating Chick-Fil-A in uniform.
In other words, Obama knows very well, or his handlers know if he does not, that enlisted men still faithful to God and country will not remain loyal to Obama forever, even if he manages to keep the generals appeased. (That the generals have to be humoured is one of the lessons Obama’s handlers learned from the misadventures of Comrades Allende and Ceausescu, may they burn in hell side by side and Obama soon join them.) Leave them their firearms and a few brave souls may mutiny at any time, or desert with their weapons.
So the enlisted men have been disarmed, except when giving them a firearm is unavoidable—viz. when they are wagging the dog in a far-off land and are too busy fending off Hajji to turn their guns on the real enemies of the United States and Christian civilization.

I suspect that Israel is gaming Obama. They know he hates Israel with every fiber of his being, so by suggesting that they would prefer to see Assad deposed, they are giving him a motive to keep Assad in power.
Assad is a rational actor, and therefore easier to deal with.

According to Big Sis (Janet Napolitano) US airmen, marines, soldiers and sailors are a bigger threat to America than jihadist terrorists who aren’t on her list.

You may want to blame Obumbles for Military bases becoming a gun-free zone but it was slick Willie Klinton who did that. Also the other pertinent facts of this case is that this guy was on psycho RSSI drugs, under military psyche-care, as well as being an insomniac playing violent video games 16hrs a day and who was fully brain washed by the left wing establishment’s race war – this shooting is fully in line with the fort hood shooting and Aurora Co.
BTW: The “assault weapon” (AR15 the feds and their toady media are salivating to Ban, was not used here as they had reported. The FBI recovered 2 hand guns and a shot gun – watching the media/Dem propaganda on this one is nothing short of mind numbingly fraudulent.

I stand corrected on the identity of the left-wing scumbag who thought disarming his own enlisted men was a good idea. Heaven knows the heads of Hillary Rodham and her so-called husband begged for a patriotic soldier to use them for target practice, and do to this day.

I was in the US Army in the mid 1960s’. I enlisted, I was not drafted. It was not PC at all. Today anyone above the rank of Lt. Colonel got there for the most part because they are PC. The Pentagon is hopeless. The Jag Corp is hopeless. I wouldn’t join the US Army today as I wouldn’t trust my officers. If I wanted to be in the military today I would join the 1) The Marines maybe or 2) The French Foreign Legion.

As part of the arms supply agreement, will they include large machetes and/or knives, all the better to behead children?
In following world events for more than half a century, never have I witnessed such blatant incompetence as I see now from this miserably inept Obama administration. If it weren’t so tragic, it would be funny.
