    1. Dude.

This is nearly every single thing they do. The difference in this case is they got caught, despite every official involved looking the other way as hard as they could.

It’s a criminal enterprise, Brian. Nothing else explains their behavior.

You ever been confused by the law enforcement and official government focus on White Supremacy movements? Because there aren’t any? You never ever see them? And then we find out yesterday that the Southern Policy Law Center has been literally funding the KKK and actual Nazis for -decades- to prop up their fund raising?

Everything the #Lieberals do is that. In every part of government.

So if you want the Oilpatch to live, and you want to make a buck, maybe stop thinking this example of fraud is a one-off, and start having all your bros in the industry go around and document every single sketchy B.S. thing the government does, and post it on a web site. Call it Small Dead Government, it’s catchy.

Like maybe start with all the windmills that still aren’t hooked up to anything. There’s a lot of them.

      1. In fact, I know of a battery factory in St. Thomas that didn’t get a concrete pour. Volkswagen, remember that? Still sitting there in gravel. Didn’t even put down rebar.

Because they’re never ever EVER going to make a single battery there, and that was the plan from the start. Same as this one, just bigger.

        1. Truth be told the framing and exterior goes up and then the floor gets poured.
That said however I share your “optimism” on the odds of that plant actually getting up and running.
The construction will continue until like CAMI they run out of other people’s money.

    2. Brian -Really? Have you not been paying attention ? 250 million for respirators never produced. A six billion 1 year pipeline project that takes a decade costs only 34++ billion . It’s unlikley you can trust that figure .A highspeed railway announcement for 90 billion, certain to at least quadruple and keep our betters living the highlife off the taxpayers for decades. And that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. So there is nothing “Un-fricking-believable” about this.
We will not vote our way out of this. My perspective conclusion is so far out of line with the general population, the only rational conclusion I can form is this is what the population wants. Canadians in general pay lip service ,but neither respect nor value freedom, rights and integrity. In short, We have the government we deserve.

    3. They call conservatives knuckle draggers and then cox one into their party to gain power. Anyone who thinks these people have a shred of integrity is absolutely bonkers. This is exactly who they are. It’s a grift machine and boomers love it.

  1. I don’t understand the skepticism. Carney’s a financial genius, the CBC will have you know. This farsighted buildout of Canadian infrastructure looks eminently capable of supporting 150 matchstick rocket launches per year. Elbows Up!

    1. I’m confused; aren’t we already spending $90 billion on a rocket train between Montreal and Toronto?

    1. Carney does have the latest Elite Fashionable Accessory – a “trans” kid.

But Trump’s the crazy guy, somehow.

  2. Hey, somebody mentioned yesterday that the Butt Plug – I mean Launch Pad – sits right near a bunch of Windy Mills and there they are in the background.
As well as needing a lot of shitty people, you need a central government that’s corrupt beyond the pale to be Shithole worthy.
    Check and check.
    Shithole.

    1. The ghost of Soulless Pierre Trudeau emerges from a field of windmills to play one final game of “have my wife” with Fidel.

  3. sigh.
    south vietnam syndrome.
the corruption so vast, so expensive they kill the goose that did lay golden eggs.
they cause the demise of the very corruption they engage in.
unlike days of yore this now post national state could support the graft and corruption
by 1st world productivity and prosperity, now the hemmorhaging has breached the tipping point.
compounded by multiple layers of taxes and more taxes and more taxers and more taxes.
we are DOOMED. AB get yer ass OUT OUT OUT OUT

    1. “…the corruption so vast, so expensive they kill the goose that did lay golden eggs.”

Vermin are not know for their long-term planning. Swarm the pile of money until there’s nothing left, then go hunting for a new pile.

That’s why vermin get a bad reputation, know what I mean?

  4. “ Site consisting of a gravel road, two sea cans and a concrete pad to be rented at $50,000 per day for 10 years”

This is unfair. The accompanying picture also shows three wooden sticks with some pink tape connecting all three!

    1. I would have put a handheld GPS into a plastic box (state of art navigation centre) and a sock on a stick (advanced weather station). These guys aren’t even giving it the college try.

    2. Come on, they built that pad from scratch! It’s a pretty impressive scratch pad! And how fancy does a launch pad have to be, anyway? It will do nothing but take a high series of high-tech farts to the face. The real budget needs to go to the crash pad! And I bet the lads there are in some comfort!

  5. Their reasoning must have been

“Last time we did this we got in trouble for using advertising contracts, so if it’s not advertising it’s good”

  6. Seriously!? Someone is gonna fire a ROCKET!!! off that 20ft.x20ft. Launching Pad [sic] ?? Rockets bought at Toys R Us? That’s an expensive hobby your government’s playing with.

          1. I’m going to start a portering and butlering service called Estes Your Bags, Ma’am?

  7. And speaking of government waste … what’s with the concrete boom truck and pump … for a job that could be handled with a couple of chutes off the back of a cement truck? SMH

    1. Who said the folks planning this know anything about rockets or construction?

This is just how senior bureaucrats roll.

    2. I noticed that too. The pumper needlessly added likely the better part of a grand to what looks like 10 grand worth, at most, of actual result (excluding an unknown length of access road). As an aside, when I built the house I’m now living in 10 years ago, I had the footings formed and brought in a ready-mix delivery outfit in for an estimate and even though no part of the pour was more than what a 20 ft chute could reach on level ground they insisted on requiring a pumper. I told them thanks but no thanks and I used my trusty old cement mixer and lost some weight in the process, eventually mixing and pouring a total of 100 yds by the time the last bit of driveway was done.

That 200 million was involved reinforces the truism that the state is a criminal enterprise.

      1. Ha! You sound like me … why do things the easy way … when it is so much more satisfying to do them the hard way. Hahahaha … laughing at myself.

        1. Exactly the same here.

My dad decided he would have a pond 25 years ago, so he got out his wheelbarrow and shovel…

  9. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy either explains the existence of Canada or/and it offers a way out for you all… time is short because Star Goat Trump won’t be around forever.

    Golgafrincham

The planet Golgafrincham creatively solved the problem of middle managemers: it blasted them in to space.
Golgafrinchan Telephone Sanitisers, Management Consultants and Marketing executives were persuaded that the planet was under threat from an enormous mutant star goat. The useless third of their population was then packed in Ark spaceships and sent to an insignificant planet.

That planet turned out to be Earth, where the arrival of the Golgafrincham B Ark rather disrupted an experiment designed to find the question to the ultimate Answer.

Golgafrincham is also famous for its circling poets.
