  1. Ah yes. The socialist province of Manitoba, second only to BC,strikes again. And the comments sure so just how caring to animals, but not humans, some of the useful idiots there are. Noticed the city wanted money to thaw the pipes.Uhhuh.As one commenter did say,the city should be sued for abusing its citizens, and made the abuse capital of Canada, next to any Indian reserve.722 homes still without water after March 1st?? It boggles the mind. Or maybe it’s the first time in recorded history Winnipeg has had below freezing temps in March!!! Damn cAGW!

  2. Socialists of all stripes are never happy until they can somehow make a criminal out of everyone, even if they have to arrange it somehow.

  3. amazing how it became her fault a day after she complained. what a bunch of dishonest idiots.

  4. Considering with the exception of Winnipeg, the rest of the Province does NOT vote NDP, I say the good little Socialists should have a long look in the mirror and accept the consequences for the Government THEY elected. The only Mayor worse that Katz was Glen Murray who slithered away to help McGuinty and Wynne, destroy Ontario.

  5. Winnipeg … City of asses and Indians. Oh ya … and a couple aging, former rock stars.
Right in the center of Canada’s Siberia, lies a socialist sink hole that only a mosquito could love and for only a couple of weeks in summer.
The only good thing that came out of Winnipeg was Lenny Breau and he was born in Maine … currently, another socialist pig pen.
Any one have anything good to say about that place … I am listening. But don’t mention the museum of human rights being built there …. I have already had my morning vomit.

  6. “Any one have anything good to say about that place”
Lived there from 1980-83 – No. Nothing good.
On the surface it looks like a modern city but there are thousands of acres that look like downtown Detroit. And that was 30 years ago.

  7. Winnipeg, Regina – balmy destination metropolises. I could feel the sense of well being and gratitude in that woman’s voice.

  8. Indeed. And that amount of mortality in a pet store is likely a normal situation for such businesses.

  9. Sounds like a lot of BS to me. Who would leave an exposed hose full of water across a alley anyway. Transfer the water and then drain it, repeat as needed. Lines sometimes freeze, more so in Winterpeg. Woe is me.:(
Manitoba is such a hot bed of free enterprise that their provincial government is busy hatching multi billion dollar schemes to build hydro dams and transmission lines south. Blue eyed Arabs ala Quebec and Newfylanders. Why am I nervous as one of the few provinces that are net contributors to Confederation?

  10. Ah yes, if you want to screw something up completely and thoroughly, let the government be in charge of it.
Make no mistake about it, we live in a world of government creep. For everyone 1 thing the government might do well, they do 5 things poorly.

  11. I find it hard to blame the city as this severe freezing is to be expected with all the global warming. Global warming can bring far colder winters and we must put more emphasis on building windmills to cut the carbon that is overheating this planet. We used to think this was just weather but thanks to the IPCC, Gore and Suzuki we now understand that warming really means a cooling warmth. 97% of IPCC climate scientists are saying this cooling trend is just a figment of your imagination and they have computer models to prove it so how can you argue with that ? No use Winnipeg spending money to rectify deficiencies because carbon sequestering will be the insurance required to make sure it doesn’t happen again. And don’t bother looking out of your windows or checking your thermometers because anything you see is just a ruse cooked up by those deniers, the Koch brothers. I hope I explained this with the same clarity we get from the media. Also remember that john Kerry (almost as smart as Joe Biden) has publicly stated that our number one enemy is climate change and we know that meant warming, not cooling. Bottom line here, is just ignore the weather and frozen water lines. It’s all a figment of your imagination. Save the planet….vote green and lobby to increase the carbon tax. Saturday is Earth hour , show ’em you understand and care.

  12. Thanks for the excellent summary. So now the politically correct catch phrase is, “but it’s a warm cold!”

  13. Happened here. A computer store has a 12 year old golden lab with arthritis. But the owners give him meds and look after him. Someone reported animal abuse and not kidding, phoned 911. The Calgary cops came and arrested the owner, forcefully, against the wall, hands behind back and cuffed in front of customers. The assistant manager phoned 911 to say something really weird is going on with these cops and they toned down, but still arrested the manager. Then Calgary Human Society or something came by and said the dog had to be put down, ‘it wasn’t fit to live’ – exact words.
They didn’t want to and were threatened that the dog would be taken away, put into a vet clinic and go through tests to prove it was old, aka not fit to live. Cost would be about $10,000.
So sadly, they put the dog down. I was there and knew the dog, it was a mascot and everyone liked it. Just one customer has their nose out of joint.
Calgary Recycling place down in Ogden by Calgary Metal.
What worries me is two things:
    1. Calgary cops arrest the owner without any evidence or fact, and forcibly, not even asking or interviewing him to see his side of the story.
    2. Calgary Humane society can dictate if your animal can live or not.
This leads to guess what, humans down the road being diagnosed not fit to live maybe?

  14. For most of Canada, water is a solid for at least half the year. Those who don’t understand how to use appropriate freeze/frost protection will suffer the consequences of ignorance.
Life isn’t fair it’s tough, adapt or die.

  15. I guess I am not alone….
I have noticed it is nearly unknown to have ANY interaction with Police…whether witness, victim/complainant or accused….without being subject to rudeness and/or implied/overt threat of violence/arrest…..
    Time fer a cull…..

  16. No coincidence really esp. if the muni act looks anything like Alberta’s – the City had a fiduciary responsibility to ensure the infrastructure is sound. Freezing pipes in winter, meaning the pipes aren’t buried at the correct depth. Yup, that’s a valid lawsuit.

  17. “This leads to guess what, humans down the road being diagnosed not fit to live maybe?”
You got it. Next Liberal government.

  18. Nobody asked who complained to the province.
BTW the whole frozen water line issue is thanks to the city failing to upgrade older areas.
