Circling The Drain

Outside of a federal election every six months, I don’t see what could possibly prevent this ship from sinking.

Canada Post reported a loss before tax of $407 million in its second quarter as its parcels business fell due to labour uncertainty.

The company said its mail volume increased in the quarter, but it was largely driven by one-time federal election mailings, while parcels declined sharply as customers chose other carriers due to the labour uncertainty.

The people behind the injunction are against the expansion of natural gas-fired power generation, against the continuation of coal-fired power generation, and also against nuclear power. So what’s left?

2025 Website Security Fundraiser

The business model of SDA has always been “this blog runs on the volunteer effort of people who enjoy yelling at radios, but your donations are appreciated”.

That said, there are costs involved, and the most significant is the annual renewal of the security plan license.

If you’ve recently donated or contribute monthly, please ignore this – you’ve done your part.

However, if it’s been a while, we’d appreciate a bit of jingle in the tip jar to cover that expense. Any funds raised over and above that cost will be shared with the guest bloggers. Etransfer is the preferred method, but there’s a link to the Pirates of Paypal on the sidebar as well.

A huge thanks to all you glorious misfits who help make Small Dead Animals the deplorable thorn in the side of left-thinking Canadians everywhere. It’s with your help that we make the magic happen.

(Security Item Addendum: If you’ve signed up as a subscriber in order to comment, only to find your account deleted, it’s because your signup or email info are consistent with spam account activity. I suppose it’s possible that you’re a retired grain farmer from Perdue using biplie354@anon.store.ru as your email, but you’re getting nuked all the same. The World Still Has Too Many Reporters

Brothers-in-propaganda;

After some 20 people were killed in an Israeli strike on a hospital in Gaza Monday, media zeroed in on their new favourite narrative, implying that because journalists were among the dead, they were targeted. Indeed, the headline carried by the Globe and Mail above a Reuters wire story read as if killing journalists was the point of the strike: “Multiple journalists killed by Israeli strikes on Gaza’s Nasser Hospital.” It wasn’t until several paragraphs into the story that it was reported that “Israeli troops fired two artillery shells at the hospital, targeting what they suspected was a Hamas surveillance camera on the roof.” […]

In fact, nearly half of the 197 journalists — listed by the Committee to Protect Journalists — killed in Gaza and Lebanon since the October 7 attack, “worked for media owned by or affiliated with terrorist organizations,” according to analysis by American journalist James Kirchuk. These include “journalists” who worked for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV, the Islamic Jihad-run Al-Quds Al-Youm and the Hezbollah-owned Al-Manar.

Considering those who are doing terrorist propaganda as “journalists” allows Israel’s media critics in the West to inflate the numbers of reporters killed and self-righteously claim, with little proof, that Israel is attacking freedom of the press. It also lets them feel like they have a right to be even more aggrieved against Israel, because Israel is killing people “just like me.”

Well, they’re not wrong.

The DNC Land Acknowledgement in Minneapolis

Hostage videos like these, painted as “land acknowledgements”, are commonplace throughout Canada. They’re a clear indication that the organization/event has been captured by Radical Left Woke communists.

This particular DNC event is being held in Minneapolis. To quote @ComfortablySmug, the land once held by the Ojibwe tribe now belongs to the Somali tribe. We know this. There is NO NEED to have such a land acknowledgement. Its ONLY purpose is to divide people, which is what Leftists excel at.

In a state-level party conference meeting on Saturday, Mr Merz said: “The welfare state as we have it today can no longer be financed with what we can economically afford.”

Once the export champion of Europe, Germany’s economy has slowed dramatically since 2017, with GDP growing by only 1.6 per cent since then versus 9.5 per cent for the rest of the eurozone.

Germany’s economy shrank by 0.2 per cent last year following a 0.3 per cent dip in 2023 – the first time since the early 2000s the economy has retreated two years in a row.

Industrial production fell under the Left-leaning “traffic light” coalition of Olaf Scholz and continues to slide under the new government, with GDP declining by 0.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2025.

Meanwhile, spending on social welfare has exploded, and is set to increase further this year as Germany’s population ages and unemployment rises. Although the majority of benefit recipients are German, large numbers are non-German citizens.

eugyppius- Migrants in Dresden harass women on the tram, then slash an American man’s face open as he tries to intervene

His name is Majd A.; he is a 21 year-old Syrian who is known to the police for prior offences that include assault, robbery and (naturally) illegally entering the country. Police released him hours later pending their investigation; the state prosecutor’s office pleads that they have “insufficient grounds” to hold him as he merely hit and did not stab the victim. As I write this, the knife-wielding attacker remains at large.

Great Success!

Kevin Klein- Investors bet with their wallets, and Carney’s Canada loses big

It isn’t just foreigners who see the writing on the wall. Canadian investors themselves are pushing their money elsewhere. In June alone, Canadians bought $8.2 billion in foreign equities, $5.7 billion of it in U.S. stocks, on top of an even larger $14.3 billion shift the month before. They also shed $7.5 billion in U.S. government bonds and moved into corporate credit. The story here is obvious: Canadian investors are hedging against their own country. That’s not diversification, it’s self-preservation.
