The headline needs a correction: taxpayers bought a share in the terminal, not First Nations.

The three equal partners say the deepsea terminal’s primary purpose is transporting critical minerals such as copper concentrate to market from sources including Newmont’s Brucejack and Red Chris mines in Nisga’a and Tahltan territories.

The price of the terminal isn’t included in the statement, but it says the province provided a $5-million grant to the Tahltan and Nisga’a nations to support the purchase.

This Change.org petition is very interesting:

More than 2.4 million people have signed a Change.org petition calling for clemency for Harjinder Singh, a 28-year-old truck driver facing vehicular homicide charges after a fatal Florida Turnpike crash.

Singh of Stockton, California, and a native of India was denied bond on Saturday and faces up to 45 years in prison after allegedly making an illegal U-turn with his tractor-trailer on August 12, resulting in three deaths. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals in California last Saturday.

The petition, created by “Collective Punjabi youth,” specifically asks Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to reduce Singh’s potential sentence if convicted.

In response to the petition, DeSantis’ deputy press secretary Molly Best told Newsweek on Sunday: “No deal. In Florida, criminal actions have consequences.”

Turns out there are numerous such petitions. Gad Saad correctly identified this as suicidal empathy.

Update: Here’s the “big” petition. The names of those signing i are being displayed by Change.org. It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see that most are Indian names. It’s so sad to realize that all of these people DO NOT CARE whatesoever about those innocent people who were killed by this man’s abject carelessness.

On the surface, the issue is about English people flying . . . wait for it . . . the English flag and the usual suspects are pretty darn upset about this. It has become clear that the English people can’t seem to vote themselves out of this predicament, so they’ve taken to another passive, peaceful approach to effect change.

If you live in North America, you should see strong echoes of the same over here. In Canada, remember what happened in Ottawa in February 2022? We were repeatedly told that the Canadian flag was a hate symbol. In America, the endless “progression” of the Radical Left Democrats clearly helped to elect Donald J. Trump to a new 4 year term.

In terms of ideology, “diversity” seems to be the belief that the less we have in common, and feel we have in common, the happier we will be. An unobvious proposition, to say the least. Yet the word is mouthed as if it were a self-evident good, a “strength,” a moral imperative, a thing of which one could never have enough.

It seems to me we’ve strayed very far from the idea that an attractively developed society should – and must – be discerning about which kinds of newcomers it welcomes, lest it be flooded with incompatible tribes and the trash of the world. The idea that the locals, the voting citizens, might want a good deal and ask, “What’s in it for us?” seems anathema to Our Betters. Likewise, the notion of a civilised society implying, quite strongly, “You’re lucky to be here. Behave accordingly.”

And so, instead, we get the routine airbrushing of crime news, and instructional videos in which ludicrous progressive women film themselves performing please-don’t-rape-me dances.

An ongoing experiment in self-annihilation.

Truckers get tickets for not having their Schedule 1  – a document listing items to check during vehicle inspections – with in arms reach of the driver while seated in the driver’s seat. It’s also illegal to read it while driving. This law also applies to Transportation of Dangerous Goods handbooks. Having the documents in you truck and being in compliance is not enough, you must also have it beside you at all times. Tickets start at $300. Forgetting to sign a bill of lading is another big ticket and the in the US they tear up your oversize permit, put you out of service and issue enormous fines if you make the mistake of signing your oversize permit in black ink instead of blue, as  all legal documents must be signed in a contrasting colour of ink from the document. Yes, it is that ridiculous. However…

If you are not fluent in english, have multiple violations and show little or no competence behind the wheel all is forgive. The trucking industry in North America has become the biggest victim of the 2 things all governments love: Revenue and virtue signalling.

One has to wonder how worse the harm could get to her or her friends before she would shed her Radical Left Woke views? For example, if a girlfriend of hers was raped, and the poor woman exclaimed, “Something needs to be done about all of this crime!”, would Dear Jill be in the hospital room screaming at her, “You Far Right Fascist Bigot, I never dreamed you would become a Trump loving RACIST!” ???

Conrad Black- B.C. Aboriginal title case underlines what’s wrong with reconciliation

This process isn’t reconciliation. It is collective national self-abasement accompanied by hurling money at plaintiffs like mad abstract artists throwing paint at canvases. Justice Young’s decision is a legal Swiss cheese. Of course, there is a legal eminent domain establishing the rights of property owners, including native persons. Some framework for dealing with these cases has to be legislated and enforced and it must be equitable to the natives but practical for the country.
