I have a dear friend in Chicago. She’s a wonderful person. She is also a hard-core Democrat. The few times we’ve actually delved deep into politics, I realized that she – an upper middle class woman living on Chicago’s north side – was a huge proponent of government “programs”. It didn’t matter what they were. It didn’t matter whether they were effective. She just felt better about politicians who advocated more programs.
Translate this to a Canadian context and it’s very easy to see why the Liberals & NDP have such appeal. The next time you get a chance to talk with a Leftie, ask them this question: “If there’s a longstanding government welfare program that has proven to not help people get out of poverty, would you be in favour of cutting it?” The responses I’ve received involve a whole lot of squirming and mental gymnastics!

Political staff of many Ontario cabinet ministers double as fundraisers for the Liberal Party, encouraging companies that do business with government to buy tickets to private events hosted by the same ministers who make decisions on contracts and policy.
The Globe and Mail has obtained several invitations to Liberal fundraisers that list ministerial aides as contact people selling tickets.

Normandy
A priest has been ‘beheaded’ by two ISIS knifemen who cut his throat after bursting into a French church and taking nuns and worshippers hostage before being shot dead by police.
Five people including the 86-year-old priest, two nuns and two parishioners were held by assailants who raided the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near Rouen in Normandy during morning mass at 9am.
The clergyman, named as Jacques Hamel, is believed to have been beheaded during the attack while another hostage, believed to be a nun, is fighting for life in hospital.
The two attackers were ‘neutralised’ by marksmen as they emerged from the building, which is now being searched for explosives. French president Francois Hollande said France is ‘at war’ with ISIS while the terror group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
There were reports the attackers shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as they ran out of the church while at least one of the men was dressed in Islamic clothing.

Democratic National Committee documents recently released by WikiLeaks include spreadsheets and emails that appear to show party officials planning which donors and prominent fundraisers to provide with appointments to federal boards and commissions.
The documents, which were circulated among top DNC officials in April, could raise legal questions for the party, says Ken Boehm, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.
