Reader Tips (And Blog Notes)

As you might have surmised, I’ve been on the road for the last two weeks on a trip that took us to the Ottawa area via upstate New York, with only intermittent internet and virtually no access to the news (the original owners of our new dog truck having disconnected the speakers in some manner that defies all logical solutions.)

We won a lot.

In fact, we won pretty much everything available in Mini Schnauzers.

It’ll take a day or two to get back up to speed. In the meantime, here’s your tips thread for tonight. Have at ‘er.

  1. Congrats on the win. Love the Checker plate on the coffee mug. Sold cars when I was in my 20’s. Many religious groups had the radio removed. The Hutterites however usually had a hidden switch somewhere that would shut the radio on and off. I once saw one that required a flat screwdriver in one one of the AC ducts!!

  2. Good for you Kate. Lance has bravely been trying to keep the ship headed in the right direction, and done some canning to boot.

  3. Apparently, it was National Intravenous Drug User day, Aug 31.
Didn’t know we were celebrating these wastes of skin now.
Of course, the SJWs are using the “occasion” to pss and moan that we need more shooting galleries, “safe” injection sites, more support for junkies, yadda, yadda. Because government’s fault, of course.
I don’t know who suffers more from brain damage, the junkies, or their advocates!

  6. Kate: The psychotic humane bangers will be calling you mean/cruel for showing a picture of that beautiful little dog with all those ribbons wrapped around its neck.
Poor little dog should not have to carry a burden like that. ha.
    Congratulations and Welcome back.

“It is worth noting again what Dr. Roy Spencer has said about clouds:
“The most obvious way for warming to be caused naturally is for small, natural fluctuations in the circulation patterns of the atmosphere and ocean to result in a 1% or 2% decrease in global cloud cover. Clouds are the Earth’s sunshade, and if cloud cover changes for any reason, you have global warming — or global cooling.”

Great you are back…get some rest.

  9. How many cyclists being killed driving in traffic before the Green Shitters stop putting bicycle lanes on busy streets in cities, highways and byways? Pure insanity, many drivers have a hard time avoiding bad car drivers who can’t seem to see vehicles in blind spots let alone skinny bikes. Cyclists get killed and the drivers who hit them have to live with that for the rest of their lives. It’ grossly irresponsible to drive bikes in traffic, it’s brainless in fact.

  10. You’re not far off. In a documentary series he made some 30 years ago, Dr. David “I am way too smart for you” Suzuki claimed that keeping pets is a form of cruelty.
So, according to that logic, my father is torturing his dog whenever he scratches the critter behind the ears.

  11. The ONLY time I have EVER been bitten by a dog … it was my best friends (mothers) miniature Schnauzer. Scary little dogs, in my opinion. Now I am SURE to get banned from SDA. And no, I was not threatening or harassing the angry little dog.

  12. “It'(sic) grossly irresponsible to drive bikes in traffic, it’s brainless in fact.”
As I’ve always said, until bicycle riders carry $1,000,000 PLPD and are licensed, let Darwin’s Law prevail! Here in Edmonton, they spent hundreds of thousands putting in those silly bike lanes, and are now spending the same taking them out! I spent three days this week watching the bike lanes in front of and around UofA. ONE biker from 5:00 AM until 6:00 PM! And she was on the sidewalk! The stupid burns.

  13. Rasmussen has the race at TRUMP 40 / CLINTON 39. It’s getting real out there. I think yesterday will prove to be the point where he won this thing. We’ll know next week.

  14. Keep in mind that it’s a dormant time at the uni and a lot of people aren’t around there right now. Registration’s next week and that might mean there’ll be cyclists using the bike lanes.
While I appreciated the bike lanes along 106th Street, especially in Duggan, they weren’t particularly well-laid out. They weren’t continuous as space had to be allocated for people to park their cars along the street. There’s no point in having a bike lane when I have to watch out for parked vehicles all the time.
I would rather that sidewalks be made wider and designated as bike trails. It gets cyclists off the street and there’s lots of room for them as well as pedestrians.
If there isn’t a bike trail around, I try to go along side streets, which usually don’t have much traffic, or on grassy shoulders.

  15. Daniel Greenfield: Sultan Knish.
Why the burkini ban is right.
    http://sultanknish.blogspot.ca/2016/08/why-burkini-ban-is-right.html
As a libertarian, I would not normally support this kind of law.
However, as I understand the agenda of this clothing, I have always supported it; I am therefore a pragmatic libertarian.
Earlier I provided a link to an interview with libertarian Gary Johnson who argued against the use of the term “illegal immigrants”. Incredibly, he argued that “they are only illegal because they couldn’t do it legally”. No really! Me No Dhimmi analogy: He stole the car because he wasn’t able to acquire it legally, as in BUY it with money.

  16. That’s it! You Trump xenophobes have gone too far with undocumented immigrants, even the criminal ones are not illegal because their crime rate is less than the population at large.
In fact, you have as much chance of becoming a victim of an illegal immigrant as you do of being attacked by a terrorist, or Hillary telling the truth.
“But ICE has also released tens of thousands of criminals in the United States — and in far greater numbers than they have disclosed to the Globe.”
ICE told the news organization that the agency freed 12,941 criminals nationwide from 2008 to early 2014.”
But Saldaña, the ICE director, told the House committee that the agency freed 36,007 criminals in fiscal 2013 alone.”
“They are among 86,288 criminals they released from 2013 to fiscal 2015.”
ICE officials said in an e-mail that the agency only provided the Globe the names of criminals they were forced to release under the Supreme Court decision; the additional releases were for other reasons.”
They did not elaborate, but ICE has told Congress it has also released criminals because of budget constraints, humanitarian reasons, or when an immigration judge ordered a release.
ICE has also suggested in court records that “many” of the criminals they released were traffic violators or other nonviolent offenders. But the news organization’s analysis shows that nationwide, immigration officials freed more convicted killers (201) than traffic violators (116) from 2008 to 2012.”
Oops there goes the narrative. Luckily it’s forwarded by non progressives racists not following the correct narrative, so no story here.
Remember you alt right regressives, when we’re talking about crime we must only discuss how peaceful society is, how are criminals relevant?
    https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/06/04/criminal-immigrants-reoffend-higher-rates-than-ice-has-suggested/l0OpCWfTdCuTNLIAfxApAO/story.html

  17. Remember you great unwashed, you cannot eliminate terrorism, so it’s better to pretend it’s not there, especially in the media, and just take it:
“Remember this: No country is immune from terrorism. It’s easy to terrorize. Government and law enforcement have to be correct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. But if you decide one day you’re going to be a terrorist and you’re willing to kill yourself, you can go out and kill some people. You can make some noise.”
Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on.”
But make no mistake, democracy still provides the most resilient and the most reliable platform that we have for preventing and responding to violent extremism. Why? Because when individuals can address their grievances, when you have an opportunity to come together and speak and not fear that you’re going to go to jail, when you have an ability to be able to talk and argue and fight over an issue, build consensus about facts – that’s the way that civil society is able to flourish: when people can freely participate in public debate and are less vulnerable to being subverted by lies, by distortions, by a fake presentation of a peaceful religion, Islam.”
I suppose their violence is fake too. Remember this: people in the ME are not at all free to speak without fear of jail. In NA and Europe, anyone who disagrees the climate change carbon taxes world governance doctrine is subject to all kinds of sanctions for going off PC messaging.
Our flourishing democracy and free society is both the beacon for freedom and the means for terrorists to strike. Real nice double standard you’ve got there Mr. Kerry. BTW the terrorists don’t care what we think about anything, especially democracy, or if anyone thinks they’re fake Muslims.
    http://www.state.gov/secretary/remarks/2016/08/261339.htm
This is the alternative to Trump’s “message of hate?” Instead we get a message of shrugging our shoulders, except to talk oh so correctly about the real threats to security existing and threatening free societies everywhere. No just tax climate change to end terrorism.
If only the media didn’t cover terrorism so much, we wouldn’t think it was a problem, and since they’re not “Islamic” terrorists, it apparently isn’t or we can’t stop it; something like that eh? Just put on your happy faces and expect the voters to accept your radical globalist vision

  18. Congratulations on the wins! It’s nice to see that PETA hasn’t done away with folks whose love and caring for their four-footed friends is an important part of everyday life!

  19. Ach! Animals are like people. They have their good days, and their bad days. True even for bees, my wife (a daughter of a beekeeper) tells me.

  20. Southern Command estimates at least 30,000 possible terrorists islamists have infiltrated the southern United States.
“In 2015, we saw a total of 331,000 migrants enter the southwestern border between the U.S. and Mexico, of that we estimate more than 30,000 of those were from countries of terrorist concern,” she said.

present Obama is giving them the liberty to give us death.
The liberal socialists progressives have always embraced change,
I am looking forward to see how they embrace Death and Dying.

  21. Correct. But as a war becomes more severe, civilised norms depart.
After all, there is no justification in peace for area bombing. But we did it. And, eventually, we will do it again – if the Russians don’t do all that is necessary.
The Americans moaned about the British campaign in WWII; but they joined in. Over Japan, there were no Brits to blame – so they area bombed, and try even now to put all the onus on Curtis LeMay.

  22. What a bizarre response. You went off on a complete tangent about area bombing.
“And, eventually, we will do it [area bombing] again…”
Not necessarily. We did it due to the technological limitations of the day in terms of accuracy and weapons effect.
These days there’s little need to devastate whole city blocks with lumbering squadrons of bombers when you can employ precision munitions delivered by remotely piloted vehicles.
