Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Boko Haram was on the verge of being able to see the #bringbackourgirls tweets too. So sad.
No loss there. In fact it would be a benefit to society if, as Jean said in a another comment, if farcebook disappeared.
Musk obviously needs more subsidies…although saves the bother of landing the thing again and then blowing up.
Facebook satellite ?? Really ? Geeze … talk about your unnecessary space JUNK ! Start CLEANING up orbital space by cancelling this EVIL hunk of metal.
Apparently, it wasn’t an explosion, it was an “anomaly on the launching pad”…………..gotta love PC speechwriting!
Let me guess Facebook dubbed the satellite the:
“SUCKER-BURG”
You’ve got that Hindenburg feeling…!
Cheers

I agree,Ken,though Facebook serves one useful purpose: it demonstrates how stupid some people vying for political Office truly are.
Too bad the whole farcebook didn’t go with it…Maybe someday people will lie to each face to face again like the good old days.
Good one!
Zuckerberg wants open borders so badly that he bought up the four houses next to HIS sprawling home, lest the unwashed try to peek into his windows and interrupt *his* perfect life. Typical plutocrat.
Will any of the remains be … uh … re-usable ? Isn’t that the Space-X claim to fame ?
Self-driving car – CHECK
Re-usable spacecraft – CHECK
Government “investment” – CHECK !
Well, I support the space endeveavours of the super rich. The other carp, not so much.
What do you expect from a company run by a pompous ass that tries to launch a satellite for another company that’s run by a different pompous ass?
Maybe they shouldn’t hire so many people who spent their undergraduate engineering studies trying to win robot competitions.
The satellite was Israeli-made. I thought Farcebook supported that whole BDS Israel movement thing.
To quote William Holden’s character in the movie “The Wild Bunch”:
“Ten thousand cuts an awful lot of family ties.”
It’s odd that the upper section (not the lower fuel tanks) blew up.
Steve – I thought that the first time I saw the video. The ‘go boom’ stuff should be down lower. But hey, what do I know….
I LIKE it.
I had the SAME exact thought … I could only assume that it was the flammable gasses (which seemed to be surrounding the rocket) that was set-off by some spark or something originating in the capsule ?
Initial reports say that a Carbon Overwrapped Pressure Vessel (Spherical metal tank wrapped in carbon fiber to give it structural integrity) blew. Interesting, considering they ran some on the shuttle for ~30 flights and SpaceX hasn’t had trouble with them before. The bright flash would have been from the Hypergolic fuels inside igniting on contact with the atmospheric Oxygen.
Come on. You guys didn’t notice the bird from Google dropping the bomb? Sheesh.
I thought the same thing Kate.
Burn your money fool.

So I went to Drudge and opened the video.
Adjustment settings on lower right corner.
Full screen, Max HD, Slow to .25
Some bird.
too bad Obama turned NASA into a muslim outreach program.
@ lickmuffin, the payload and its associated antennas were made here in Montreal for an Israeli communications company. It’s a bit tragic to see so many man-years of effort wiped out in less than a minute.

Another setback for the one world government types. Glad nothing of value was lost.
The most important thing about space travel is the blast-off: Jose Himenez.
