Showing Up To Riot

Powerline;

It is nice to see the Republican campaign apparatus exploiting Kathy Griffin’s “art project” to point out to voters how crazy the left is today, and to suggest to Democrats that there are consequences for the acts of their celebrity supporters. Ossoff’s campaign is crying foul and demanding the ad be taken down, which shows that it is effective. Good for Republicans for hitting back twice as hard.

Related — sorta, if you’re into United Nations approved proportional response rioting.

What Would We Do Without Experts?

Richard Fernandez;

They saw the Obama administration come to office on the proposition the Bush policy of intervention failed and elected him to try something else. They also saw his attempts to “lead from behind” and bomb from on high fail too. The Eiffel tower was dimmed for a third time in a week to commiserate with yet another bombing underscoring the fact no one knows the solution. But they do know where wreaths, candles and blinker bulbs can be had and supply them instead.
Maybe Trump doesn’t have a clue about how to fix things. But the more serious problem is not many people are convinced Hillary knows either. Just as the lack of a cure reduces the worth of doctors, elites are on defensive because their stock of knowledge, so useful in the past, is now ineffectual against the present chaos. This helplessness has the effect of lowering their status, as with a priesthood faced with the manifest futility of their rites. Legitimacy is based on working magic and the wizardry is faltering.

“Pittsburgh, Not Paris”

I was on the road between Minneapolis and Fargo this afternoon, so was unable to blog the Trump announcement live.
You know where to find the cascade of reaction.
It’s a day that makes me proud to be a blogger, and among those who began speaking out, and pushing back, and sharing the information so many years ago when we were just crazy little voices in the wilderness. Thank you all for supporting this blog and others during this battle. Today we celebrate a victory in a fight in which we played a major role.
Thank you.

Blog Notes

Fixed the missing closing script tag that was mucking up the site.
It’s going to be a slow weekend. I have work commitments through Monday, Kate is away. We’ll try and keep stuff up, but don’t rely on it. Fill up the Reader Tips!
Have a great weekend.

The Insulated Left

John Podhoretz;

In the bubble in which she lives, in the world in which she travels, in the frame of reference in which she nestles like a baby nestling in a Moses basket, it must have seemed to Kathy Griffin that there could be no way she could go too far if the object of her unspeakable provocation was Donald Trump.
In fact, she must have believed, the further she would be willing to go, the more praise her action would be likely to engender.
That was not an unreasonable belief…

More: The bigger picture is that the country is living two movies at the same time, and Griffin was acting “normal” in one of them.

Unexpectedly!

CNBC;

Job creation surged in May thanks to a jump in construction positions and a boom in professional and business services, according to a report Thursday from ADP and Moody’s Analytics.
Private payrolls increased by 253,000, well ahead of expectations. Economists surveyed by Reuters expected the report to show that private payrolls grew by 185,000 in May from 174,000 in April.
The growth “is three times the rate of the growth in the underlying labor force,” Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told CNBC. “So that means the unemployment rate, which is 4.4 percent, is quickly headed to 4 percent. This labor market is rip-roaring and getting really tight.”

Is it just me, or….

Are other people really nervous when Liberals and business collude on the tax-payer dime?

Federal investments doled out through the government’s new infrastructure financing agency may be used to ensure a financial return to private investors if a project fails to generate enough revenues, documents show.

Do Liberals believe Canadians will fall for this twice in fifteen years? Actually, don’t answer that.

Rise Of The Mao-lings

Seth Barron on the dramas and degradations of “social justice” piety:

Videos from Evergreen State College show mobs of students –mostly but not only black– haranguing their professors and accusing them of racist abuse. The college president, George Bridges, is heckled, insulted, mocked, and ordered to stand with his arms firmly at his sides because his gestures are considered threatening to the students, who have invaded his office and refused to leave. Bridges complies meekly with all demands, including buying gumbo for his captors.
We see Bridges [an advocate of “critical race theory,”] struggling to be as passive and compliant as possible with the crowd of angry students occupying his office. When he is yelled at for saying “Please,” he apologises. When he admits to having a claustrophobia-induced panic attack, he is derided and told to “get to work” transcribing the mob’s demands. Bridges could have called the campus police at any time to end the illegal occupation of his office and his imprisonment, but he ordered them to stand down — presumably because, according to his own academic doctrine, police intervention is necessarily fascist and racist.

One of these.
