This twaddle made me laugh out loud in places.
This, in reference to ISIS:
These young people aren’t monsters and haven’t had their brains or bodies snatched. They’re going through adolescence. It’s dicey.
Are you a bad parent? Have you ever said this? “Now, now, Johnny. No beheading the kids at school!” Don’t you know the first thing Johnny is going to do now is behead little Janie? Rick Salutin told me so.
So what is parents’ role? It’s not telling their kids what to do, since they’ll almost certainly not do it. And even more, not telling them what not to do, since they’ll likely do that, or try it out.
How about this J-school example of ladder logic:
All revoking citizenship does is dehumanize its targets, since citizenship is a human right. Do we really want Stephen Harper or Chris Alexander to decide who counts as human and who to exclude as monsters? This is sheer incitement of more anger and alienation.
So, lemons are purple?
This is an even better example of idiocy when you click on the hyperlink in the article…it goes to this. An article about revoking the Canadian citizenship of…da da dumm…dual citizenship holders. So, relax, Rick, humanity saved, they’re still citizens of Somalia, Lebanon or wherever.
It’s the Toronto Star and wherever Shiny Pony’s mouth leads, they must defend. Maybe it’s satire, right? Right?
It must be satire.
