    2. I am moving to Ottawa tomorrow to be closer to family and friends in this last phase of my life. According to my sister-in-law, Ottawa has a substantial Somali population and they are all “less than special”. She has been advising me as to the good parts of Ottawa for residence.
      I lived in Toronto from 1977 to 2002 and along Airport Drive (if memory serves correctly), there are a series of “welfare towers” (have been there for over 40 years), which are full of Africans, primarily Somalians. AS the name suggests, they are NOT contributing members of society, even after 40 years.

        Depends on what area you’re moving to. Some are still fairly normal, though all are changing.

        You’re arriving at a great time of year for Ottawa. Road construction, road repair, construction companies blocking so many roads they will add an hour to your transit, and every rule of road interfering with autos.
        If you’re driving be VERY careful to check blind spots for e-bikes, scooters and bikes that totally ignore traffic rules, and some of them are fast.

        But hey, its a nice little town.
