True Story

Call: “Good Evening, Mr.Reliable Donor, I’m calling on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society. How are you this evening?”

Mr. Reliable Donor: “I’m well, thank you”.

Call: “First, let us thank you for your past support. I’m calling to ask if you’d like to contribute again to the fight against cancer.”

Mr. Reliable Donor: “I’m very sorry, but I won’t be giving you any money this year.”

Call: “May I ask why?”

Mr. Reliable Donor: “I can’t afford to because of the carbon tax”.

Try it out for yourselves.

On the Slaughter Bench of History

“Forces, ideas, prejudices, institutions, conflicts, all are surely important. Yet that still leaves the individuals, not in the end that many of them, who had to say yes, go ahead and unleash war, or no, stop.” The men on top are the men who matter most, and the most important thing about them is their inadequacy: “It was Europe’s and the world’s tragedy in retrospect that none of the key players in 1914 were great and imaginative leaders who had the courage to stand out against the pressures building up for war.”

Break Them Up

Into a hundred thousand million pieces.

‘They got his information from the Twitter office in Dubai. That is how he was arrested,’ a source, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Metro.co.uk.

‘Twitter has become insecure for dissidents or critics. Everyone speaks under threat and pressure.

‘The accounts of Saudi dissidents are spied on. We are not safe using Twitter.’

No one is.

Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Why do we hate them?

The Republican president, the likely speaker of the Democrat-controlled House and the Senate’s Republican majority leader each started Wednesday by talking about working together to get things done. They talked to each other privately and talked separately in public about what they thought they could accomplish for the country.

For most Americans, that would make for a very good day. Given the overheated environment leading up to the midterms and the fear among many that we are drifting toward an era of disunion and spreading political violence, bipartisan pledges to work together for the common good were like the sudden emergence of a bright candle flickering in the wind.

Alas, it was the last thing some members of the White House press corps wanted, so they tried to snuff it out.

This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

Via Facebook;

I am appalled that Humane Society International has chosen to bring another two hundred dogs into Canada. Appalled at their lack of transparency and honesty. Many Korean Meat Farm dogs are not able to be rehabbed, many are not able to be adopted and many would have been in a better place if they were humanely euthanized before even bringing them to Canada. Dogs that are born and raised on those meat farms have a very hard time adjusting to life in general, let alone a pet home. HSI thinks people can just go and “adopt” them from the shelters? Let me ask you this……and again I am not trying to toot my own horn….If I, who have been in rescue and the dog world for over 15 yrs could not “save” them how in the hell is the average Joe going to be able to?

The Tolerant Left

SFgate;

“I called my wife,” Carlson told The Washington Post in a phone interview. “She had been in the kitchen alone getting ready to go to dinner and she heard pounding on the front door and screaming. … Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door.”
