  1. Danielle Smith, Danielle Smith… Where have I heard that name before???
Oh wait! Now I remember. She sold us out for a good seat at the Jim Prentice leadership table.

      1. You guys are full of it.

DS and Prentice made a huge mistake in an attempt to unite the right in AB. They paid the price and were rejected by the voters. The PC party deserved to get punted after 40+ years in office.

Danielle Smith is one of the few clear thinking conservatives voices in this country. Maybe you guys should tune in and listen to her show. She’s not Roy Green or Gormless.

        1. And she doesn’t work for CFRA. Only two hosts left, the rest are conventional CNN regurgitators.

      2. Yep. All she had to do was DO HER DAMN JOB for six more months and we’d be talking about Premier Danielle Smith and the majority Wildrose government. Instead she’s a podcaster and we have the NDP.

        1. Smith was a lousy politician. She got what was coming to her and readily admits it.

Alberta politics was a mess when she came on the scene. 40+ years of PC’s. Stelmach, Reford – the ndp found a comfortable home with them. In fact if you want to pick nits go back to Lougheed. AB is as socialist as any place in Canada.

Today Smith runs the most popular radio show in AB (CHQR 770 – check it out). She is a conservative/libertarian in an increasingly liberal province.
We conservatives should be glad we have a voice as powerful as hers. No one in Canadian media understands property rights, the basis of all wealth creation better than she does.

She made an egregious political mistake. She paid the price and has taken ownership of it not laying the blame at the foot of anybody else. Conservatives are fortunate she landed on her feet in talk radio. She’s carrying the water for the cause.

          1. This. Even before her Red Wedding move, she wasn’t doing good things for the WR. She was chopping off sacred free speech party planks to appeal to trans voters or something with no returns. She kept losing byelections. Was not sad to see her go, am not convinced that she would have won if she had stayed.

          2. “She paid the price and has taken ownership of it…”
No, Albertans (and consequentially, all Canadians) have paid the price when Danielle Smith handed the NDP a majority. It was a monumentally selfish move on her part to join Prentice and betray all those in the WR party that put her trust, and their money, behind her.
And it wasn’t a “political mistake” it was a selfish personal decision. Admitting to her foolishness or “taking ownership of it” does absolutely nothing for Alberta today.

She may be saying all the right things again, but she lost the respect of a LOT of Canadians.

    1. Hey RR, didn’t that bible thumper, Prescott Manning, advise her to do that. Lay blame were it is disserved .

      1. Guffman:
I get it that your pissed at DS.
There is no way of proving the WR could have formed government or that the PC’s could have under Prentice. The bottom line is that the electorate had had enough of the whole sordid mess and turfed the bunch of them. So, sure a lot of Canadians lost respect.
I was as pissed as the next guy and didn’t vote.
None of the above changes the fact that she is a solid conservative in a sea of socialists. I don’t agree with her on everything but she is carrying water for the cause as well as it’s ever been carried, and she has a platform – something few conservatives can say.

  2. Vivian Krause’s interview was great, but then most of here knew exactly what she was talking about and applaud her for that.
What dismays me is that the Harper government did nothing about the US charitable foundations and their Canadian affiliates destroying our energy industry. Some of their work was outright criminal or at best fraudulent. It is almost as if Harper’s government was complicit in this war on our energy industry, or were they actually that dim witted and naive?

We do know that Trudeau’s and other socialist globalists long term aim is to shut down our energy industry and all heavy industry.

    1. I am not sure what Harper could have done. He would have as usual been attacked mercilessly if he had tried to shut down some of those environmental groups. I think he did as best he could. Remember that Obama’s game was delay, delay, delay. So some people may still have had hopes for the project until close to the end.

      1. Harper should have drove a knife thru the heart of CBC, cancelled all government advertizing in the media, and pressed for forensic audits of every single entity that recieved a single taxpayer dollar. He should have fired ninety percent of administrators and slashed the federal budget by twenty-five percent. Liberals and dippers would have screamed blue murder. The twenty-five percent is easily achievable without touching essential services. Arts grants, UN grants, foreign aid, corporate welfare. So many parasites, so much low lying fruit. A billion here a billion there and soon you’re talking about real money. Harper did none of this. He wanted to be loved by the media.

        1. ” The twenty-five percent is easily achievable without touching essential services. ”

Citation needed. I don’t think it breaks down that way depending on how ‘essential’ is defined. https://www.google.com/search?q=canada+federal+government+spending+pie+chart&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=h3PgbXD2zD7a1M%253A%252CxgpPJ2Nsw7co9M%252C_&usg=AI4_-kQ45iBBjgq0KBMntKJsx4bsGGXxIA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiP_f7azcjeAhUDhOAKHds3A_EQ9QEwAXoECAUQBA#imgrc=-ImxjpeEv19g3M:

      2. ” …am not sure what Harper could have done. ”

He could have/should have done his job. There is a lesson here for all: govern as if you will get only one kick at the can.

        1. That’s actually excellent advice. A lot of politics comes down to luck or so it seems. Planning to be around as long as Merkel is hubris.

    2. The government has no right to do anything about charitable foundations; that would be an attack on freedom of speech.

What Harper could have done and failed to do was rewrite asinine environmental regulations. Instead he shut down a would-be gold mine to appease FN special interests.

    3. We do know that Trudeau’s and other socialist globalists long term aim is to shut down our energy industry and all heavy industry.

And WWF secret agent Butts is having considerable success on that score. I’d like to know if he is still receiving payments from that organization. I expect not, but it will be ineresting to see where he lands when his sockpuppet is finally evicted from #32.

  3. Shut up about being attacked mercilessly. Never again pick anyone who will shrink from a fight .

The Americans picked a president who would bite off an ear if he thought it would help. He don’t care if you mock, attack, scream, riot,… he just keeps winning.

HOW IS THAT MAKING EXCUSES FOR LEADERS WHO WILL NEVER FIGHT FOR ANYTHING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE WORKING OUT FOR YOU??????

    1. “Shut up about being attacked mercilessly. Never again pick anyone who will shrink from a fight .”

      Amen.

      1. You mean like Andy 2%, Kate? We should call him the Milk Toast, or Milk Shake, or Milk Shrink, or Milked and Bilked. Or Andy 2% who?

I’d like to tell him not to back down, but, as yet, he hasn’t actually stood up for anything.

    2. “he just keeps winning.”

Except the House, which he lost. And various court challenges that he lost.

      Incoherent yelling =/= ‘fighting’

      fighting =/= winning

    3. Harper did a lot of damage. I understand him being compliant when he had a minority, but when he had his majority, he should have sold off the CBC, firmly ended c-68, he should have ended all constitutional overlap with the Provinces, he should have taken his axe (Majority) and cut root and branch down 3 levels in all government departments. He was a squat to p*ss Liberal at heart. Scheer is another Liberal. But Canadians get what they deserve. “If you haven’t suffered enough, it is your God Given Right to suffer some more”.

  4. Smith-Bernier. One loser and traitor interviewing another. At least Smith is coherent. Bernier? Gack.

  5. “Smith-Bernier. One loser and traitor interviewing another. At least Smith is coherent. Bernier? Gack.”

Bernier. No place for an honest man with guts in Scheer’s fold of sheep. Go Max!

  6. when unelected judges have power over your economy you will soon be starving. those in Canada who don’t want oil or gas should be compelled to live, or die, without it.

    1. When any government has power over the economy it will suffer, and unelected judges are the least of your concern and may be the only that hinders that government.
