Of note: Climate Barbie has been demoted to Minister of Bike Lanes, with Jonathan Wilkinson taking that portfolio.

Saskatoon-raised Liberal MP Jonathan Wilkinson, a former advisor to Premier Roy Romanow and leader of the Saskatchewan Young New Democrats, has been named federal environment minister.

Wilkinson was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015, representing the riding of North Vancouver.

Embrace Hollywood!

The 2019 reboot/sequel of Charlie’s Angels just opened to a catastrophic $8 million, making it the fifth man-hating, woketard franchise to get wiped out at the box office.

Angels, which was written and directed by Elizabeth Banks, is not only under-performing expectations by about 50 percent, it got run over by Ford v Ferrari, a movie about real men who throw punches and burn fossil fuels. […]

Angels is a failure because it features unappealing actresses who are more interested in lecturing us than showing us a good time. The film’s trailers promised a pretentious feminist lecture full of man-hating… and the sexless movie delivered.

Excellent news.

Careers in coding beckon;

“We are going digital-only outside of Ontario as more and more of our commuter readers are using their smartphones, laptops and tablets to access their news on their way to and from work,” Torstar said in a statement to CityNews.

“This trend, coupled with a corresponding decline in print advertising volumes, has decreased the need for a free daily commuter newspaper in these cities.”

The closure will result in 73 job losses.

In October Torstar announced that it was suspending its quarterly dividend after reporting a quarterly loss of $40.9 million. Torstar stock, which soared to over $30 back in January 2004, has fallen to .50 cents.

This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

“I’m a happy boy. I love being petted and love attention.”

That’s what Carlin Kinlow saw when she adopted Bubba earlier this year. But when she got him home, Bubba didn’t act like a happy boy. Instead, he attacked her roommate.

[…] CBS2 [Los Angeles] obtained internal records which show 32 dogs with bite histories at the shelter. Twenty-three had no warnings or any information about biting previous owners on their kennel cards.

Kaviani said by leaving information off of the card, it is not masking the dog’s behavior. He says it is their policy is to tell people before they adopt.

“When you’re dating, on the first date do you say all the things that you’re really trying to work on as a human being? No, you’re not airing that on the first date. Are you lying about that? Absolutely not,” said Kaviani.

Madeline Bernstein, president of the spcaLA said that people have to be told.

“Whether you bite a shelter personnel member or you bite a volunteer, or the dog has been returned for a bite, that information must be told to potential adopters,” she said.

CBS2 also found the shelter drugged dozens of dogs.

Climategate: Ten Years On

Judith Curry;

Last week, an email from Rob Bradley reminded me of my previous blog post The legacy of Climategate: 5 years later. That post was the last in a sequence of posts at Climate Etc. since 2010 on Climategate; for the entire group of posts, see [link] Rereading these was quite a blast from the past.

While I still mention Climategate in interviews, the general reaction I get is ‘yawn . . . old hat . . . so 2010 . . . nothingburger . . . the scientists were all exonerated . . . the science has proven to be robust.’ I hadn’t even thought of a ’10 years later’ post until Rob Bradley’s email.

Now I see that, at least in the UK, the 10 year anniversary looks to be rather a big deal. Already we are seeing some analyses published in the mainstream media…

It’s excellent. Grab a coffee.

Black Like Me

The possibilities are endless;

The Universities and Colleges Union has set out its stance in a report on the ongoing row about whether men should be able to self-identify as women and be treated as female regardless of their anatomy.

The UCU’s ‘position statement’ did not just stand by its support for self-identification of gender, but also insisted people can choose their own race, saying: ‘Our rules commit us to ending all forms of discrimination, bigotry and stereotyping. UCU has a long history of enabling members to self-identify whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women.’

Faster, please.
