August 29, 2022: Reader Tips

This evening we get to join an elderly British gentleman, David Jason, as he travels around the West Coast of America.

Your most interesting recent tips are definitely appreciated!

Bonus: Awhile back, this video about the massacre (execution) of Canadian soldiers on June 6, 1944 was shared here on SDA. The SS Commander, Kurt Meyer, was later charged with war crimes for this incident. There’s a follow-up video of how other Canadian soldiers, in the days following, sought retribution against this SS Division.

What I didn’t realize until yesterday afternoon, when I added this bonus material, is that during the 75th Anniversary of D-Day (2019), I happened upon a beautiful ceremony in Bretteville-l’Orgueilleuse when local French townspeople personally thanked members of the Regina Rifle Regiment. For you, dear readers, I’ve uploaded the photos & videos I captured that day.

On the Ground at London’s Western University

Further to OJ’s post this morning, SDA regular Denise wrote that she was at the protest. Here’s what she shared:

Less than two weeks before classes begin, London’s Western University (formerly The University of Western Ontario) mandated three Covid shots, the ONLY university in Canada to do so. Students held an #EnoughIsEnoughWestern rally on Saturday: great speakers and wonderful energy, but what struck me most were the many sad, serious, young faces. These aren’t the best years of their lives, and Western just made it worse.

Update: Andrew Lawton reported on the protest.

That’ll show Putin!

Most wars start out with the widespread belief that victory will be quick and easy. When things drag on with no prospect of victory, the economic damage eventually forces some sort of reckoning. It looks like the price of that reckoning is getting steeper by the minute.

As of Friday, 70% of capacity is offline across the continent, according to Fertilizers Europe, representing top regional producers.

“The current crisis begs for a swift and decisive action from EU and national policymakers for both energy and fertilizer market,” Jacob Hansen, director general of Fertilizers Europe, said in a statement.

Producers from Norway’s Yara International ASA to CF Industries to Borealis AG recently reduced or halted production because European NatGas prices hit a record high of 343 euros per megawatt hour, making it uneconomical to operate.

Not a Square to Spare

A sticky situation.

YLE News- Finnish firm warns of toilet paper shortage as energy costs wipe out production

Metsä Tissue has previously announced temporary production stoppages at its plants in Germany and Slovakia earlier this year, and the situation has deteriorated further since then.

The company sells its products under various brands — including Lambi and Serla — and has a total of nine paper mills in Europe.

Is The Doctor Always Correct?

Apparently not:

Here’s a non-medical diagnosis: Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and DeSantis Derangement Syndrome (DSDS) appear to impair the logic portion of the human brain, as well as shut down human conscience altogether.

In his related substack article, Dr. Prasad writes:

The facts are simple. The AAP initially put forth the right decision, “recommending that education leaders and policymakers “should start with a goal of having students physically present in school” by fall of 2020.

Then Trump famously voiced his full-throated support for reopening schools 100% by the fall, and cited the AAP report as evidence he was correct. (For the record: Trump was correct about this one issue).

The AAP immediately began walking back support for children. The AAP president said, “local coronavirus infection rates and hot spots have to be taken into consideration to safely reopen schools.” But, this was inaccurate. European experience showed that reopening was possible irrespective of local infection rates; Kids could benefit from school, even in places with high spread, and schools could safely reopen even there.

Sunday On Turtle Island

Biden’s America:  A monkeypox metaphor.  Old Joe’s senior moment of the week.  Steve Bannon and the leftist assault.  Settled science of veganism.  Your morning meme.

Woke Britain:  The social justice warriors.  A brainwashed transgender victim.

Trudeau’s Canada:  The sin of Margaret Atwood.  B.C.’s activist cannon fodder.  Apparently global warming is going to cause Putin to invade Canada.  Today feminist Trudeau makes some sort of feminist announcement.

ZeroHedge- ‘Triple Threat’? Man Diagnosed With HIV, COVID, & Monkeypox At Same Time

An Italian man on a ‘condomless’ sex escapade with men in Spain tested positive for HIV, Covid-19, and monkeypox simultaneously – the first known case to have all three viral diseases, according to a case study in the Journal of Infection.

Researchers stated the 36-year-old male spent five days in Spain between June 16-20 and developed a fever (up to 39°C), accompanied by sore throat, fatigue, headache, and right inguinal lymphadenomegaly about nine days after his trip. He tested positive for Covid on July 2 — and his symptoms worsened that day.
