Elbows Down!

Didn’t Carney say we were going to make up for declining trade with the US by achieving closer ties with Europe? I guess our manufacturers didn’t get that memo.

The downturn in Canada’s manufacturing sector deepened in June as U.S. tariffs undercut demand, spurring the sharpest cut to output in five years, data on Wednesday showed.

The S&P Global Canada Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) edged down to 45.6 in June from 46.1 in May, registering the fifth straight sub-50 reading. A level below 50 indicates contraction in the sector.

When The FBI Does It, That Means That It’s Not Illegal

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today released internal Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) emails revealing the FBI suppressed intelligence of alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election to insulate then-FBI Director Christopher Wray from criticism, after Wray provided inaccurate and contradictory testimony to Congress.

The FBI declassified and provided the requested records to Grassley, along with an accompanying cover letter, after Grassley initially received some information from whistleblower disclosures. The FBI emails offer an inside look at the Bureau’s decision to recall and suppress an Intelligence Information Report (IIR) from the FBI’s Albany Field Office on September 25, 2020. The IIR contained information from an FBI Confidential Human Source (CHS) alleging the Chinese government was producing “tens of thousands” of fraudulent drivers’ licenses to manufacture mail-in votes for then-presidential candidate Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

According to the FBI, these allegations, despite showing initial signs of credibility, were allegedly never fully investigated due to the FBI’s sudden and “abnormal” decision to halt the investigation and bury the IIR’s existence, preventing any additional FBI field offices, as well as other Intelligence Community elements, from accessing or studying the document. The FBI’s stated reason for doing so was because “the reporting will contradict Director Wray’s testimony.”

Coal Revival: RM of Estevan Reeve Jason LeBlanc gave a speech in the snow on Parliament hill in support of coal, now it has been saved.

Coal Revival: Revisiting Jason LeBlanc’s 2019 speech on Parliament Hill in support of coal and against the carbon tax

Coal Revival: RM of Estevan lauds practical and common-sense decision

I should note that Jason LeBlanc is VERY well known in the Saskatchewan farming community from his many years as an auctioneer. In 2019 when former Sask NDP Leader Ryan Meili disparaged LeBlanc for that very speech from the relative safety of in the legislature, registrations for the protest truck convoy heading to Regina in the next few days doubled overnight. The phone rang off the hook. Over 800 trucks showed up a few days later for that rally.

Aerial photos taken by Kevin Cooke from Dennis Mainil’s airplane, flying over the convoy from Weyburn to Regina.

You can watch the video of Mieli in question period here. Go to time index 2:03:00. The Hansard written record of the debate can be found here on Page 5646.

Thank You For Your Attention To This Matter

The heads keep rolling.

CBS News parent Paramount Global has agreed to pay $16 million to resolve an extraordinary lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over a “60 Minutes” news report last fall.

The long-gestating and highly controversial settlement payment was announced by Paramount late Tuesday night.

Paramount said the $16 million sum “includes plaintiffs’ fees and costs,” and will not be paid to Trump directly, but instead will be allocated to Trump’s future presidential library — mirroring a settlement agreement that Disney’s ABC struck with Trump last December.

“The settlement does not include a statement of apology or regret,” Paramount specified.

The announcement also said that “in the future, ‘60 Minutes’ will release transcripts of interviews with eligible U.S. presidential candidates after such interviews have aired, subject to redactions as required for legal or national security concerns.”

CNN is butthurt.

Legal experts maintained that Trump’s suit was frivolous and that CBS was on solid ground to fight and win the case in court.

Margin Of Fraud

Tryouts for the big leagues.

United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that MD Nurul Hasan, 48, MD Munsur Ali, 48, and MD Rafikul Islam, 52, all of Millbourne, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty today to election fraud offenses, at separate hearings before United States District Judge Harvey Bartle III.

In February, the defendants were charged in a 33-count indictment with conspiracy to commit voter fraud, giving false information in registering to vote, and fraudulent voter registration, arising from their scheme, ultimately unsuccessful, to steal Millbourne Borough’s 2021 mayoral election for Hasan.

Hasan, the vice president of the Millbourne Borough Council, pleaded guilty to all 33 charges against him — one count of conspiracy, 16 counts of giving false information in registering to vote, and 16 counts of fraudulent voter registration.

Ali, a member of the Millbourne Borough Council, pleaded guilty to all 25 charges against him — one count of conspiracy, 12 counts of giving false information in registering to vote, and 12 counts of fraudulent voter registration.

Great Success!

Sylvain Charlebois- How Ottawa gift-wrapped our dairy sector for Trump

Which brings us to Donald Trump. For him, gaining access to the Canadian dairy market is not about economic necessity—it’s about principle. It’s about cracking a closed, protected system that offends his transactional worldview. Fresh off forcing Canada to abandon its digital services tax, Trump may now see himself as the liberator of Canadians from an outdated system that serves a small, powerful minority.

When you’re flapping your elbows it’s funny how people tend to notice.

This is the fatal flaw of Bill C-202. In trying to shield supply management, Parliament has made it a bigger target.

Raise Your Shovel For Canada Day

Jonathan Kay’s annual Canada Day reminder that Trudeau & his govt “celebrated” Canada Day 2021 by peddling the lie that the “remains” of 215 dead children had been dug out of a field in BC.

I realize that there is a polite, unstated social contract in Canadian political circles that says we should all just pretend the 2021 unmarked graves social panic never happened. We should all just forget about it. It’s rude to bring it up. Erase it from your mind. I refuse to do that.
