The First American Prime Minister Is Surprised

Michael Ignatieff on Lawn Sign Volunteergate;

“A Conservative party operative stands accused of fooling around with something that is very important to Canadian democracy, which is the citizens’ right of access to information.”

None of this can be compared at all to the non-controversy known as Pablo “failing to blow” Rodriguez. He’s a Liberal candidate, and thereby immune from media interest.

Why Michael Ignatieff Won’t Form A Coalition

He already has one.

“This Accord will expire on June 30, 2011 unless renewed.”

Legal analysis, via email;

I have reviewed The December 1 2008 Accord with the Liberals and NDP;
Here is my legal interpretation
1. It is a “Live ” document and is binding on the parties.
2. Termination – No termination by any party– Termination only occurs on June 30th 2011
3. Document BINDS the NDP and Liberals ( the Liberals cannot unilaterally back out of deal)– the NDP can force compliance.
4. Given that Michael Ignatieff signed the document– he can not argue bad faith, or had no knowledge and as such is bound to the Agreement

I noticed yesterday how quickly CTV Newsnet cleansed their news loop of a video segment juxtaposing Iggy crowing that “Liberals love elections” against Harper’s “We should be at our desks working”.
But it’s probably still buried somewhere on their website. If anyone out there can find and capture it to video, please pass it on.

Luckily, This Could Never Happen Here

THE inventor Sir James Dyson has warned that Chinese students are infiltrating British universities to steal technological and scientific secrets and even planting software bugs to relay the information to China.
Dyson, best known for inventing the bagless vacuum cleaner, said he had evidence that the bugs were left by postgraduates to ensure the thefts continued after they had returned home.
He said the extent to which foreign students dominated many science, technology and engineering research posts, often paid for by the British taxpayer, was “madness”.

“I’ve seen frightening examples. Bugs are even left in computers so that the information continues to be transmitted after the researchers have returned home.”
A number of such cases have been uncovered at British universities, with leading research institutions the most heavily targeted.

Or in the US. China ‘to overtake US on science’ in two years

Related thoughts: Twitter does serve one useful purpose. It separates the politically obsessed and chronically underemployed from the real people who have lives. Accordingly, an observation for politicians: Do you know how many of my real-life regular folk voting friends are on Twitter? ZERO.
