Indeed! “I can’t believe the same crowd that wanted Abu Ghraib pictures endlessly published find a photo confirming Osama bin Laden’s demise to be possibly inflammatory.”
Believe it.
Life is much easier once you accept that these same elements are the enemy.
Gun control, Obamacare even Kyoto have a common purpose….control. Bolshevism, National Socialism and Maoism all gained power in the chaos of societal collapse.
These are the same elements…indeed often the same individuals…who during the COLD WAR sought to defeat our democratic societies. The “Verona Files” obtained after the collapse of the soviet union confirmed this. Such actors as Alinsky, Hoffman, Dhorn were either defacto enemy agents or unwitting dupes.
Currently they are allying with islamofascism to destroy the existing structure in the futile belief that by feeding the crodile they can not only avoid being eaten but can off the crocodile in the aftermath.
We have few choices…the main ones are a gradual push back away from creeping totalitarian rule…or the flame of civil war. Velvet revolutions are rare….but the best option.
This past election hopefully is such a velvet revolution….if this can be repeated south of the 49th we will have true peace in our time.
Ya but the Abu Ghraib pics made -Republicans- look bad. This is completely different!
I’m waiting for the calm, cool, level-headed analysis of Sheila Copps before I make up my mind on this issue.
Ok, so this is why Obama has been drone-bombing Pakistan for the last 18 months. He was trying to kill OBL with his Wii.
Obama doesn’t deserve credit for Osama. He was the main critic against the US Military, Gitmo, Iraq, Afghanistan and waterboarding.
sasquatch, your comment is so true.
As far as photo’s of a dead Osama are concerned, the left is hypocritical about this, just as it is about everything else. To a Marxist, truth is whatever advances Marxism, no matter how blatant a lie it is.
Moose, that is funny. I think Sheila should join the Green Party and then we could listen to her and Liz scream like banshees.
I recall “unknown knowns (etc.)” being mocked as a silly statement. It is, in fact, a legitimate approach to an engineering problem, not that the MSM would ever bother to check.
Morons.

Is Osma bin Lying still dead?
Is he like on Death row?
You mean like the electric chair,
the hot seat, dead meat, deep 6,
it’s over pal, you’re outta here bub,
the groundhog’s are bringing you mail,
you’re picking turnips with a step ladder?
Fish food for the Great Whites.
Snail meat.
Bottom fish Shiite.
Arabs drinking desalinated Osama?
Burial at sea after having received several good pees.
72 salted virgins?
Good riddance!
I still remember people standing in a burning WTC building waiting to jump or burn.

Ken,
I’m hoping for a UFC match between Dizzy Lizzy and Sofa Cushion Sheila in Taranta’s Rogers Centre. There’s nothing that gets me more excited than 2 aging Hegelian Hippos hot oil wrestling in Eastern Canada. It will really bring out the Liberal raggamuffin base.
Release the pictures of the ultimate http://www.maxfarquar.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bin-laden-buried-at-sea.jpg“ rel=”nofollow”>water boarding.
Bush has shown class again. I’ve got no qualms with BO taking credit for taking-out Osama. People in their own minds expect a) Obama to take credit; and b) Bush to be gracious. I say “Let Obama take his credit”. IMO that in itself speaks volumes.

funny how nobody accused the cbc of being “insensitive”
when it showed that vancouver airport taser incident about
14,000 times.

So it’s turning out that Hassan Ghul, the al Qaeda guy who first gave up the nickname of the courier who ultimately led the US to Bin Laden, was never waterboarded.
And that other al Qaeda detainees — including Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who was waterboarded, 183 times — repeated mislead US interrogators about the importance of the courier even as they were being subjected to “enhanced interrogation” techniques.
And that it was this discrepancy in accounts — between genuine information elicited from a non-waterboarded detainee and misinformation elicited from a waterboarded detainee — that led the US to suspect that the courier was an important piece of the puzzle, and ultimately, 8 years later, to Bin Laden.
Huh.
“I can’t believe the same crowd that wanted Abu Ghraib pictures endlessly published find a photo confirming Osama bin Laden’s demise to be possibly inflammatory.”
There was, and still is, a higher purpose to revealing what went on in Abu Graib — the American public has a right to know of any misdeeds carried out in its name by deviant members of the military.
Honest people can disagree on whether that higher purpose outweights the risk of inflammatory responses, but that higher purpose itself stands as a valid rationale. Suppression of these events not only violates core principles of US democratic accountability, it also risks even worse blowback when the photos eventually see the light of day (as they always do). At least this way, the US administration would control the circumstances and framing under which they’re released.
What would be the corresponding public interest rationale for releasing Bin Laden’s death mugshot?
Judge Nepolitano of FOX has questioned the legality of the Bin Laden hit.
Davenport, the rumours that bin Laden isn’t really dead have already begun. Those will only grow (particularly in the middle East) until the photos are released. This should be obvious.
Phantom – Abu Ghraib did not make Republicans look bad it made women in traditional male roles, look bad. Roles like the military and, what are essentially male prisons. Men don’t generally revel in getting other men naked (well before “don’t ask, don’t tell” was withdrawn, anyway) but would if it was seen to excite women in the platoon, which it apparently did. However, in unity with my feminist sisters, I’m absolutely positive the same could be said if the situation was reversed. How many movies by the likes of Russ Meyers, were financially successful when the titles and runners suggested the storyline involved “Women Behind Bars”?
If water-boarding is distasteful, what would one call handing out candy after beheading an infant?
People who have no respect for human life cannot be peaceably persuaded into doing the right thing. We cannot count on “human decency” to magically pop up when an average day for these mongrels is shelling schools and planting roadside bombs.
I don’t think pictures should be displayed as violence porn but we certainly need the administration to be upfront and consistent. If the incessant showing of the photographs of Abu Ghraib prisoners was foul but necessary so, too, should proof of bin Laden’s death be. The stories keep changing day in and day out. Show us something that is real.
Ed Minchau: “Davenport, the rumours that bin Laden isn’t really dead have already begun. Those will only grow (particularly in the middle East) until the photos are released. This should be obvious.”
Sure, and equally obvious: “official” photos, released by the US Government, of a dead Bin Laden will do nothing to quell such rumours.
@ Kinyobe
“… after beheading an infant”?
Now I really have to challenge that assertation.
There are lots of bad things done by Muslim fundamentalists but this surely cannot be one of them. Surely.
It’s a good thing that they killed him as keeping him prisoner would have given him a platform and well led to large scale retaliation and hostage-taking in attempts to get him released.
It’s damned unfortunate that the Americans felt obliged to release the information that he was unarmed. Now they have created the very thing that they said they wanted to avoid – a sympathetic picture of a martyr. Damn and double damn.
Anyway, they should release the photos, no matter how ghoulish, to prove to the world (including Americans) that the operation was a success and the bastard is really dead. Otherwise, the morale raising and propaganda value of the Seals’ coup will be lost.
Rumsfeld made a mess.

I’m sure this is creating massive waves of cognitive dissonance.
If a person was a 9-11 truther, voted for Obama, and welcomed the news of the death of OBL, then they must be starting to reprocess that, as in, why do I welcome this? He was a stooge of the CIA (in that world view).
If a person was a Bush supporter, dead set against Obama, and inclined to believe that OBL masterminded 9-11, then that person probably wants to see visual proof in case Obama has faked this like the birth certificate (in that world view).
If a person is a Muslim or leftist supporter of jihad and extremism, then they want to be angry about the death of their hero, but they aren’t sure if it’s real or a trick. Not much point in being mad about something that didn’t happen. So for them, it’s wait and see, or perhaps, OBL already died and this is a convenient fable secure in the knowledge that he really is dead (and has been for years). In that world view.
So to be totally comfortable with the events, you have to be an Obama supporter who is not Muslim or leftist, and who believed the Bush-Cheney version of 9-11. Is there such a person?
Well apparently there is. He’s Jeff Bobchuk of Sioux City, Iowa.
GWB: “Well, we got ‘im!”
Press: “Saddam Hussein? Where is he?”
GWB: “Oh, we shot him dead.”
Press: “So where’s his body?”
GWB: “That? We tossed it into the ocean.”
Press: “Then do you have photos?”
GWB: “Yep.”
Press: “Can we see them?”
GWB: “Nope.”
Press: “Um… OK.”
Davenport: “I agree! What would be the corresponding public interest rationale for releasing Saddam’s mugshot?”
sasquatch
You get the cigar.
“… after beheading an infant”? Now I really have to challenge that assertation.
Canuckguy if you didn’t know about this you can blame the usual suspects.
