  1. WOOHOO !! About time!!
I’m pleased that they finally have a shot at proper governing.

  2. Now Mr Harper……
Please prove to us you are better than the rest.
Please live up to what we here at SDA think you can be.
    Please.

  3. I’ll make my wish list short: get rid of the gun registry and the wheat board monopoly.

  4. Harper quickly changing into his Darth Vader garb, prepping to freeze Iggy in carbonite. Sweeet!

  5. The CPC may lose my riding. The NDP may pick up 3 in Sask. Elizabeth May may win her riding. But I don’t care. We have a majority!!!!! Thank you Bob Rae.

  6. My top issues are:
    1. Stop the insane spending!!!
    2. Remove the anti-free speech sections from EVERY Human Wrongs commission.
    3. End all public funding to the CBC or at least before 2012 stop all funding to CBC News.

  7. Don Cherry President of the CBC. Jack Layton appointed to Royal Commission on Sex Trade. David Suzuki, Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan. Elizabeth May to ride on the Space Shuttle.

  8. Wow.
I don’t expect Harper to all of a sudden turn back into a Reform Libertarian, much as I would like that. He will probably govern exactly as he has so far, except that (hopefully) he will be a bit more relaxed.
And on a smaller note, all those donations to get rid of Mark Holland paid off!
    Kill the LGR!!
And don’t bring in any new anti-gun BS to “sweeten” killing the LGR.

  9. Well, the “we *would*, but we only have a minority” excuse is now gone. Time to see if the CPC are actually conservative, or if they’ve morphed into Liberals with blue ties after all these years in Ottawa.

  10. You couldn’t ask for a better 2 days. First Osama gets his head blown off.
Then we blow away both the NDP and Libs.
    Suck it Bitches !

  11. Wish list:
    Per vote cash
    cbc funding
    wheatboat
    milk/ egg quotas
    taxes
death to 30-40% of the mass of government

  12. Speaking of ties, did anyone else note that CTV reporter at Justin Trudeau’s headquarters who was insisting his orange tie was gold, not orange? What was up with him: a secret NDP plant?

  13. I now fully expect Ignatieff to diminish and sneak back down south (especially since he is currently loosing in his own riding). Bob Rae will now try to unite the left, bringing the Liberals and NDP together to form a new Canadian political party the “Liberal Democrates” or may the “New Liberal Democates” (the NDP gotta figure someway to keep the New in there) Either way I think tonight we witnessed the death of the LPC……

  14. As Preston Manning said tonight, it has been a long haul.
Thinking back to the days when people spit on me, called me a nazi, vandalized my jeep, etc….all because I was in the first wave of Reformers….it was all worth it…to see the “natural governing party” reduced to a rump…
    GO ARMY !
    VOTE REFORM !

  15. Cut loose the CBC, end forced contributions to political parties, end the wheat board and eliminate the gun registry. Reform or eliminate the Indian Act. And grind the Liberals’ collective nose into the dirt! Yipeeeeee!

  16. For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country.
lol So much for all the push polls!

  17. mark holland had a private member’s bill that would force, repeat, FORCE bystanders to aid crime victims under threat of criminal charges.
    typical liberalism.
wont be much of that anymore. certainly none from him.

  18. Duceppe, Ignatief, Dryden, Volpe, Trudeau all losing.
Dumbest comment of the night from Joy McPhail, BC NDPer moaning about the Conservative majority. She lamented that the Tories have too many candidates that are not in the mainstream. This is rich coming from a West Coast dipper.

  19. Bruins win in OT, Osama gets smoked and Harper get a majority. Does it get any better?

  20. Kate – why don’t you start a “first three things to do” thread:
    Here are mine:
    1) Freeze all public hiring
    2) Kill the LGR, destroy all the records
    3) Return the Human Rights Commissions to a strict focus on employment and housing law. NO role in regulating speech.
(and on the wishful thinking, but it won’t happen list)
    1) put property rights into the constitution
    2) open up discussion of our healthcare system, looking at the much more effective European models
    3) Reform the immigration and refugee system so that it benefits Canada, not 3rd world countries.

  21. All available auditors please report to Ottawa. We have the C.B.C., The Wheat Board, The Long Gun Registry, Elections Canada, Canada Post, Liberal Party Of Canada all requiring your services.
    Have I missed any.

  22. The “vital centre of Canadian politics” isn’t for Iggy or the Grits to do a damn thing with.

  23. So will Gerard Kennedy be using a food bank now?
So it looks like Jack and Olivia will be moving to Stornoway but why not? They’re used to living in subsidized housing.

  24. I am not happy about the demise of the Liberals.
    Don’t forget
the opposition eventually becomes the governing party.

  25. Is it safe to say that all polling firms in Canada aren’t worth a damn?
I doff my hat to Mr. Ignatieff, he’s a gentleman in defeat.

  26. Robert W. (Vancouver)
Some of my postings lately have expressed frustration on my part. You were one of the people in Vancouver who “get it” in my mind.
This farm boy has had family die for this great country and it is my hope that greatness is refound.
I have just breathed a great sigh of relief.
    Again: God bless Canada

  27. I’m already trying to think up my dry, witty comment for when Iggy high-tails it. “I am shocked, shocked” etc., a la Claude Raines?

  28. The Maker’s 46 is served, pizza is half gone and four years of Conservative government awaits. Life is effing sweet.
