“It will never happen in Canada.”

Recently Mohawks barged two houses down the St Lawrence River and without land deeds or building permits, installed them on farmer-owned residential property by the water in Glengarry.

It is Mohawk land, they claim. People pay a premium to have the St Lawrence touching their lawn. This land is extra valuable, being bordered by official wetlands, providing that combination of complete privacy surrounded by nature.

No houses, up to this point, have been installed by the Mohawks on the government designated wetlands. Possibly government might not approve.

The Montreal Mafia and a former Liberal cabinet minister own land and homes next to the river nearby as well, but they didn’t put houses there either.

Dan Knight- Bank of Canada Cuts Rates to 2.25%, Warns of Structural Economic Damage

The central bank’s message was buried beneath bureaucratic doublespeak, carefully manicured forecasts, and bilingual spin. Strip that all away, and here’s what’s really going on: the Canadian economy has been gutted by a combination of political mismanagement, trade dependence, and a collapsing growth model based on mass immigration. The central bank knows it.

And So It Begins…

CTV- First Nation files lawsuit demanding Aboriginal title over lands in western Quebec

The Aboriginal title claim covers eight areas, including islands in the Ottawa River; Gatineau park and adjoining lands in the city of Gatineau; two harvesting zones in the Gatineau regional county; the Papineau-Labelle wildlife reserve; as well as the Baskatong Reservoir and other nearby areas that were flooded during the construction of a hydroelectric dam in 1927.

Y2Kyoto: Out With The Old Grift

In with the new.

In a stunning and significant pushback to the “doomsday” climate activist community, Bill Gates, a leading proponent for carbon emissions reductions, published a remarkable essay Tuesday that argued resources must be shifted away from the battle against climate change.

Instead, Gates argues, the world’s philanthropists must increase their investment in other efforts aimed at preventing disease and hunger.

Climate change is not going to wipe out humanity, he argued, and past efforts that strive for achieving zero carbon emissions have made real progress. But Gates said that past investments fighting climate change have been misplaced, and too much good money has been put into expensive and questionable efforts.

Indeed: He does this one step ahead of the law of con men eventually being caught.

@feelsdesperate – It’s amazing how AI came along with its massive energy needs and in a blink they just dropped ‘climate.’

Saskatchewan commits to nuclear power generation: The full press conference video

This is one of the most significant announcements in years.

This plan, if followed, will dramatically reshape Saskatchewan. Nuclear may not be cheap or easy, but it is also transformative in many ways. And as many participants and executives during the conference noted these power stations could last up to 100 years, this really is a case of planting trees so one’s grandchildren can play in the shade.

That plan, in its entirety, is reproduced here on Pipeline Online.

That’s just a part of the in-depth coverage of the conference’s events provided by Pipeline Online. Check out, for instance, the opening question Pipeline Online posed during the scrum portion, and then look at the question asked by other media at 44:51, when another reporter asked, “Can you clarify what you mean of nuclear power sources? Does that mean a nuclear power plant in Saskatchewan?”

“Yes, that’s what we’re talking about here,” Harrison responded.

Remember, she was standing there for 45 minutes, listening to over half an hour of press conference and then 10 minutes of questions to then ask if all this meant a nuclear power plant in Saskatchewan?

You might notice me in the middle of the pack, doing a face-palm.

The Progressive Anxiety

On crime, conflictedness, and weird excuses:

Regarding the consequent conflictedness and anxiety, all that progressive wrongness, these three posts include suitably vivid illustrations of the phenomenon.

Among which, a claim that more theatre for schoolchildren would somehow deter the kinds of creatures who repeatedly sucker-punch elderly ladies for being the wrong race, and a chap who insists that women should allow themselves to be mugged lest their mugger, out on probation, come to harm.

Oh, and the belief, expressed by a Guardian columnist, that when you find your home being burgled in the middle of the night, the real victims, the people deserving of sympathy and indulgence, are the ones breaking into your home while brandishing carving knives and then driving off with your valuables in your car.

Our betters, you know. They say so themselves.
