The Libranos: WE Gone

Jul 15, 2020, 17:30 ET

Reflecting the realities of COVID-19, we are cancelling WE Day activities for the foreseeable future. We are proud to have hosted 137 WE Days welcoming over 1.5 million students who earned their free tickets by contributing 70 million hours of service to 3,000+ charities and causes.

Finally, we recognize that 25 years of rapid expansion and ground-breaking social entrepreneurship has resulted in an organizational structure that is more complicated than it needs to be. We are proud of the social impact WE has enabled, but we realize that its structure needs to be easier to understand and more transparent for all our stakeholders. We also recognize it is time to review some of our policies and practices.

“…the agency had not touched thousands of files for years”

CBSA has lost track of 34,700 people due to be deported

The federal auditor general says Canada’s border agency has failed to promptly remove most of the people under orders to leave the country.

In a report tabled in Parliament today, the auditor says the Canada Border Services Agency‘s efforts were hampered by poor data quality and case-management flaws, resulting in avoidable delays in thousands of cases.

But wait! It gets better.

The auditor suggested reviving a program that paid failed refugee claimants a small amount of money to leave Canada, an idea the CBSA agreed with in its response.

Minneapolis Neighborhood Vows No More Cops

Keeping the promise not to call the police has proven more difficult than imagined, as some residents have avoided the park altogether after being catcalled and are fearing for their children’s safety. Others said they had trouble sleeping at night, fearing campers would force their way into their homes.

“I’m not being judgmental,” Carrie Nightshade, 44, told the Times, explaining she no longer allows her children, 12 and 9, to play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe….

New Rules

Uh oh…

Jimmy Kimmel, who urged actor Tom Arnold to release an alleged “N-word” tape of President Trump in 2018, admitted years ago that he imitated rapper Snoop Dogg’s voice for a track in a 1996 Christmas album — an original song in which Kimmel used the “N-word” several times. […]

Fox News additionally has obtained audio from the Christmas album, “A Family Christmas In Your A–,” which came out of the “Kevin & Bean” radio show that aired on KROQ-FM in California. A version of the track featuring Kimmel’s Snoop Dogg imitation, “Christmastime in the LBC,” has been uploaded to YouTube.

In the Christmas track, a singer mentioned a “fat n—- in a sleigh giving sh— away,” referring to Santa Claus. The song also referenced “n—– in the manger,” including associates of King Herod.

Update:

The Libranos are Alive & Well

Marwan Tabbara, a Kitchener South—Hespeler MP is facing multiple charges after he was arrested on April 10 in Guelph, Ontario.

A spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s Office told Global News, “we are looking into the matter.”

NDP MP Charlie Angus, who said he was “floored” by Tabbara’s arrest, called for standards in cases where MPs are facing criminal charges.

“We don’t know the case. We don’t know what the details are. And this is something to be dealt with in the courts,” said Angus, the party’s ethics critic.

“But we really need to establish standards in Parliament that if somebody is under suspicion and under charges, they have to step aside from their duties and the prime minister needs to send a very clear message that there is a zero-tolerance policy in place when people are charged with such serious crimes or any crimes.”

While You Were In Lock Down

Staff in Ontario nursing homes were recording videos as they danced from COVID infected residents to those who were well.

Like the debacle in New York and elsewhere, the report reveals COVID-19 patients are being housed in care homes with the uninfected — while you’re scolded about racism and told to consider your next door neighbors as potential plague rats.

And that’s just the tip of the adult diaper.

Military personnel sent to nursing homes in Ontario have observed shocking conditions, including “blatant disregard” for infection control measures, mistreatment of residents and a level of care described as “horrible,” according to documents obtained by Global News.

Canadian Armed Forces teams deployed to five of the province’s worst-hit long-term care homes to help control COVID-19 have raised concerns about each of the facilities, describing the care as ranging from below best practices to “borderline abusive, if not abusive” and worse, the documents show.

Infection prevention and control measures were found to be a particular problem, with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols going unheeded by staff, many of whom were not properly trained, according to the documents obtained from a source familiar with the mission. […]

The documents obtained by Global News said soldiers had witnessed cockroaches, flies and rotten food, residents left in soiled diapers and crying out for help for lengthy periods without any response.

At one facility, residents had not been bathed in weeks, the documents alleged.

Staff at a Brampton nursing home allegedly recorded a Taylor Swift Dance Video showing them dancing through the facility, passing between areas deemed COVID-19 positive and negative without wearing any protective equipment, the documents claimed.

At a facility in Etobicoke that has experienced dozens of coronavirus deaths, residents who tested positive for COVID-19 shared rooms with uninfected residents, separated only by a curtain, the documents said.

Updated with more, via this note in the comments. It will be very interesting to see if any of these issues have been found at Revera facilities
