The Libranos: Bend Over

Feel the love;

(Federal Liberal) Cabinet yesterday announced $19 million in subsidies for café patios and shrubbery in empty parking lots in Toronto. “This is the love being returned,” said Liberal MP Adam Vaughan (Spadina-Fort York, Ont.). Toronto returned 25 Liberal MPs in the last election with an average 54 percent of the popular vote: ‘It starts with loving Toronto more than you’ve ever loved it before.’

The Urinating Liberal

Is making a heroic comeback.

Amos’ wife, Regina Flores, was at his side at the Chelsea constituency office and made a heartfelt statement of support about his return to work. Amos explained that he had been dealing with the issue by taking a step back to focus on family and surround himself with a team of health professionals to create and implement a comprehensive “wellness plan” to address the “root cause” of these incidents.

“The assessments from my health team suggest that I don’t have any mental health disorder,” Amos said, explaining that his health team consisted of a psychologist, an occupational therapist, a psychotherapist, and a family doctor.

Stunning and brave.

Smoke Them If You Got Them

Seems to be a rallying cry we’re hearing from a certain segment of the ignorant elite these day’s.

While some cheer on the destruction of churches, First Nations pick up the pieces
After a failed arson attack on an on-reserve Anglican church, Gitwangak First Nation said the church had no connection to residential schools. Vandals returned to burn it down anyway.

They’re in a hurry to rewrite history so they don’t have to bother learning any of it.

Terry Glavin: Canada’s early Christian prophets were Indigenous. Now someone’s destroying their churches
As pyres have been made of sturdy little churches built by First Nations, the sneering of all those white ‘allies’ is the thing to notice

Broaden the base, he said…

The federal Tories are finding out what happens when you treat your base as if it were expendable.

Bricker says the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to made it difficult for opposition leaders like O’Toole and Singh to campaign in traditional ways and make themselves known to Canadians — particularly O’Toole, who Bricker says is still a “stranger” to voters.

That’s because O’Toole is practically a stranger to his own party members. The Covid debacle is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

The last pillar crumbles, falling inwards;

For two hundred forty years, American generals have not exactly been defined by adamant public advocacy for left-wing cultural dogma. Yet there appeared to be a great awakening at the Pentagon on Wednesday when Gen. Mark Milley, the highest-ranking military officer in the U.S. as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified at a House hearing. The Chairman vehemently defended the teaching of critical race theory at West Point and, referencing the January 6 Capitol riot, said, “it is important that we train and we understand … and I want to understand white rage. And I’m white.”

In response to conservative criticisms that top military officials should not be weighing in on inflammatory and polarizing cultural debates, liberals were ecstatic to have found such an empathetic, racially aware, and humanitarian general sitting atop the U.S. imperial war machine. Overnight, Gen. Milley became a new hero for U.S. liberalism, a noble military leader which — like former FBI Director Robert Mueller before him — no patriotic, decent American would question let alone mock. Some prominent liberal commentators warned that conservatives are now anti-military and even seek to defund the Pentagon.

It is, of course, possible that the top brass of the U.S. military has suddenly become supremely enlightened on questions of racial strife and racial identity in the U.S., and thus genuinely embraced theories that, until very recently, were the exclusive province of left-wing scholars at elite academic institutions. Given that all U.S. wars in the post-World War II era have been directed at predominantly non-white countries, which — like all wars — required a sustained demonization campaign of those enemy populations, having top Pentagon officials become leading anti-racism warriors would be quite a remarkable transformation indeed. But stranger things have happened, I suppose.

But perhaps there is another explanation other than righteous, earnest transformation as to why the top U.S. General has suddenly expressed such keen interest in studying and exploring “white rage”. Note that Gen. Milley’s justification for the military’s sudden immersion in the study of modern race theories is the January 6 Capitol riot — which, in the lexicon of the U.S. security state and American liberalism, is called The Insurrection.

A Government of the Amateurs, by the Amateurs, for the Amateurs

The consultant gravy train is well-established in Ottawa. What’s new is the unprecedented scale

Why do the Liberals need so many public servants and consultants? The underlying reason for all this is that the Trudeau government cannot run a pop stand and his cabinet is run by amateurs. Many ministers — who make $270,000 a year plus a huge expense account, along with a car and driver — are there for one of two reasons: they are either buddies of the prime minister, or Gerald Butts, Trudeau’s former chief of staff.

From Foucault to Fauci

Grab a coffee.

This logic has surfaced in strange ways during the Covid pandemic, such as when a prominent reporter, previously employed by the New York Times, announced on Twitter that he “wanted to find an antimasker and beat them to death.” A more measured version of this sentiment appeared in op-eds declaring to those who refused to cover their faces that “you don’t have a right to kill me.” If, throughout 2020, the unmasked were construed as threats to biological existence, the same discourse is now emerging around vaccination. The notion of “vaccine passports” explicitly defines the unvaccinated as a danger to society, who can be excluded from a variety of spaces on this basis—a prospect many liberal observers appear to relish.

Such biopolitical imperatives were intuitive to many on both the left and right ends of the spectrum well before Covid appeared on the scene. Consider, in the former instance, the frequency with which the term “lives” appears in political slogans. In the past year, we have seen the simultaneous prominence of “Masks Save Lives” and “Black Lives Matter,” though the latter first gained prominence some years ago. But similar phrasing also emerged several years ago in relation to another issue when the “March for Our Lives” became a site of gun control advocacy.

In 1977, the philosopher Jean Baudrillard exhorted the public to Forget Foucault in a polemic published under that title. Judging by his far larger impact in academia in subsequent decades, Foucault seemed to get the better of his rival. Nevertheless, his almost total absence from public debates around the Covid pandemic, and the political responses to it, suggests that, in spite of his massive influence, we did forget Foucault—or at least the parts of his work most challenging to our guiding political assumptions. The Left, which has spent decades poring over his oeuvre in its academic redoubts, has in the past year largely acquiesced to a dictatorship of expertise that might as well be using the Foucauldian account of biopower as an instruction manual. Its abandonment of the tools of critique offered by his work has been sudden and almost total.

And The Vaccines Will Manufacture Themselves

Reuters;

Alberta has stopped administering first doses of the AstraZeneca (AZN.L) COVID-19 vaccine because of limited supply, a government spokesman said on Tuesday.

Alberta Health spokesman Tom McMillan said the change was due to supply issues rather concerns about rare side-effects.

“This decision is based on the fact that we are receiving no known future shipments of AstraZeneca at this time but are receiving large quantities of mRNA vaccines,” McMillan said in an email, referring to messenger RNA vaccines from Moderna (MRNA.O) and Pfizer/BioNTech (PFE.N), .

The shortage of AstraZeneca vaccines comes as the western oil-producing province of Alberta struggles with a surge in COVID-19 cases. Last week the provincial government introduced new restrictions to curb infections.

Generally people think roadways when the topic is infrastructure spending. But if Shiny Pony has anything to say about it, such projects may be consigned to the environmental dustbin.

Ontario’s proposed new mega-project to build a highway looping around the northwest of Toronto has been designated by the federal government for special environmental scrutiny.

The federal government says the provincial project, already facing opposition, needs additional environmental oversight, a designation that will slow the massive construction project or, opponents say, kill it altogether.

….this project may cause adverse direct or incidental effects on federally-listed species at risk….

I Want A New Country

Handout nation;

Liberals have leveraged their illegitimate position by sending money from wealthiest provinces, through grants and equalization payments, to their Liberal strongholds. […]

But the extent of this giveaway to Quebec and notably Atlantic Canada is greater than most people realize, according to a recent article in Halifax’s Chronicle Herald by David Mackinnon, a former civil servant in Nova Scotia and Ontario. He was born in P.E.I. and has been a senior fellow at the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies in Halifax.

He warns Atlantic Canadians that their “bubble” is about to burst because it is unsustainable. This warning is timely considering Alberta is about to hold a referendum demanding changes in equalization transfers this fall. Confederation’s other “sugar daddy” Ontario should do the same.

Mackinnon, however, points out that equalization transfers are only a quarter of the money that the federal government has shovelled into Canada’s poorest provinces.

Looming showdown as Michigan governor orders Line 5 pipeline to Ontario shut down;

In a move applauded by environmentalists and Indigenous groups on both sides of the border, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, in November ordered the firm to shut down the nearly 70-year-old lines by May 12.

Canadian officials, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have appealed to their American counterparts, including President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm for help. […]

Seamus O’Regan, Canada’s natural resources minister, has cast a shutdown as a threat to Canada’s energy security – one he is “watching like a hawk.” He told a parliamentary committee in March that the pipeline provides 53 percent of Ontario’s crude and 66 percent of Quebec’s and 55 percent of Michigan’s propane needs.

hahahahaha….

We Are All Treaty People

On Friday, the Supreme Court of A Post-National Nation ruled…

…that Desautel and the 4,000 other members of the Colville Confederated Tribes in Washington state were successors to the Sinixt – and as a result, that they enjoy constitutionally protected Indigenous rights to hunt their traditional lands in Canada.

The closely watched court decision settled longstanding questions over the status of the Sinixt, but it also has the potential to affirm hunting rights in Canada for tens of thousands of Native Americans living in the US dispossessed of traditional territories by an international border drawn hundreds of years ago.

Beauty.
