South of the Border

Something very interesting is happening in America. One wonders if President Brandon will be so quick to threaten these truckers and their supporters as easily as #BlackFaceHitler did to their Canadian neighbours.

Unapproved Minority

Vancouver Sun- MP Hedy Fry stands by decision forcing Granville Island newsstand owner out

Chia-Ning Chen’s Tuck Shop, which sells a wide range of newspapers and necessities, “does not fit” the federal housing agency’s future vision for the Island, says Hedy Fry

“The island is expanding its arts and culture and increasing the diversity of the people who have shops on the island,” Fry told Postmedia. “The Tuck Shop does not fit into these things,” as they were outlined in the Granville Island 2040 report.

Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

All about me.

I feel like i’ve read half a dozen of this kind of article. always the same self-fellating BS: “The public doesn’t understand how awesome we are. I guess they’re all hate-addled idiots.” Zero self-awareness about how journos have torpedoed their own reputations over last 3 weeks.

And what’s their solution? Instead of being better journalists, the plan is to control social media so John Q. Rando doesn’t have the ability to call journos out without risking censorship or getting his account yanked. They actually think this will *increase* trust in journalism.

Solidarity 2.0

41 years ago the workers of Poland engaged in peaceful protests which lead to the end of a totalitarian dictatorship.  Now, in 2022, Canadian blue collar workers are rising up against a dictator-on-the-rise.  The similarities are striking.

In 1981, the future prime minister of Canada had not yet turned 10 years old and was not yet designated Canada’s “sexiest man alive.” Yet there are clues that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau might have heard and absorbed Soviet anti-Solidarity propaganda. In response to the 2022 truckers’ convoy, Trudeau plagiarized the Soviets, claiming, “We won’t give in to those who fly racist flags. We won’t cave to those who engage in vandalism or dishonour [sic] the memory of our veterans.”

[…]

The media, perhaps responding to a Soviet-style call to “organize statements of this sort,” wrote, “Images shared on social media during the weekend showed protesters waving flags with swastikas on them, as well as U.S. Confederate flags—which civil rights groups say is a symbol of white supremacy.”

Small Fringe: A Progress Report

Bumped for morning updates.

Doug Ford has pulled the rug from under Trudeau with a scheduled announcement on dropping restrictions in Ontario at 9:30am.

Vax passports will in Ontario end March 1.

Just Watch Him: Trudeau threatens to put soldiers in our streets. (How else do you deal with a Russian takeover?)

In Coutts: A house in Coutts was surrounded by police last night. Other than that everything seems to be the same.

Reminder that Saskatchewan’s vaccine passes were finished as of midnight.

National PostTwo-thirds of Canadians believe it’s time to drop COVID-19 restrictions and begin living with the virus, according to a new poll.

This is apparently real. (Mischief is important)

Best take: @DonMartinCTV

February 6: City of Ottawa declares state of emergency. Nothing changes. February 11: Ontario declares a state of emergency. Nothing changes. Today: Trudeau expected to invoke Emergencies Act. Will anything change? Doubtful.

Long time reader “Chris” sent this essay to me privately, and I’m sharing it as a download instead of quoting as it’s somewhat lengthy.

I’m recently unemployed because of a workplace vaccine mandate, and pissed off, and I thought I’d write about something I wanted to write about for a changeWhy is the Freedom Convoy Different from Other Protests

Good work, Chris. We just got Jordan Petersoned. Bumped. We got Brit Humed, too.

Under Whose Authority?

Something truly extraordinary happened in Ottawa sometime Saturday afternoon. In the morning, when Viva Frei walked past the National War Memorial, the disgraceful fence around it was clearly in place. But then later in the day, this video appeared in my feed:

I was listening to the retired veteran and then suddenly realized, “Wait a minute, he is standing RIGHT BESIDE the memorial. Where is the fence? Was this an old video, only published today?

I did a little sleuthing and found this:

Update: Greg Grandy has shared this video.

Of course, Global News, being the loathsome individuals they are, had to disrespect the veterans – and they damn well knew these folks were veterans – by adding the tag line: “Protesters from the so-called “freedom convoy” in Ottawa have torn down a fence that had been put around the National War Memorial to protect it from further desecration.”  In the same way that these media elitists have taken for granted Canadian truckers & farmers, is there any doubt that they place military veterans in the same bucket labeled “Deplorables who were too stupid to get into McGill, the U of T, or Ryerson” like me & all of my enlightened friends did?

You can watch in real time as the Fake News Machine spins this event in the most negative possible way to hurt the Freedom Protest.  Does any member of the legacy media really still wonder why everyone rightfully hates them?

The National War Memorial was placed there to honour these Canadian veterans who removed the disgraceful fencing today, and even more so their buddies who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The fencing wasn’t placed there  to “protect it from future desecration”.  It was added as a “prop”  to cast aspersion on tens of thousands of freedom protesters in Ottawa, and millions nationally.  Anything to keep propping up The Narrative™.

One has to believe that these same veterans will be guarding the memorial in shifts 24/7 until this thing is over. Will the legacy media be sending soy boys over to scold these veterans for unlawfully removing the fence? Will the OPP be sending out petite policewomen to hand the veterans notes about how to correctly conduct themselves in a protest? Will Peter Sloly and Diana Deans be sending heavily armed shock troops against them?!?

Finally, as you’ll see in the bottom video, the problem is not with the vast majority of frontline police officers.  It’s with their incompetent, power hungry “leaders”, who are taking orders from the politicians, who are taking orders from . . . we’re not entirely sure but we can certainly guess.

Update: A legacy media newspaper actually dared publish some truth about what occurred:

Conversely, last night’s national CTV News broadcast w/ CTV News with Sandie Rinaldo suggested otherwise, completely lying to the Canadian public (@ 4:30) stating “The War Memorial, dedicated to Canada’s war dead, treated with disrespect again”.

What is the Canadian media’s definition of respect? Why are they blatantly lying to the Canadian public?

Mila’s Story

Please read this – every last word:

Mila, illuminated and mysterious, was a creature beyond this time. She wanted to be a midwife and she would have been a glorious one. When COVID hit, our part of the world, Ontario, Canada, imposed some of the most draconian and aggressive measures of anywhere in the world. A couple of weeks to flatten the curve, right? Initially, like almost everywhere and everyone, we obliged.

Schools were closed. It was near the end of Mila’s grade 11 year then. There were no classes online at that time. A mad scramble ensued to get these kids some sort of education. Eventually, schools tentatively opened for some. We had the option of keeping her home or sending her in. She insisted on going. For the next few months, and into the fall of her graduating year, schools opened. Then schools closed. Then schools opened. Her friend group shrunk considerably. Most parents abided by the “no socialising” rule. There was really nowhere for them to go anyway. Theatres, live music, restaurants, and even places like bowling and the roller rink were closed. Instead, the dwindling friend group that Mila was a part of had random, clandestine meet-ups—in a friend’s frigid barn, or someone’s basement.
