Mila, illuminated and mysterious, was a creature beyond this time. She wanted to be a midwife and she would have been a glorious one. When COVID hit, our part of the world, Ontario, Canada, imposed some of the most draconian and aggressive measures of anywhere in the world. A couple of weeks to flatten the curve, right? Initially, like almost everywhere and everyone, we obliged.

Schools were closed. It was near the end of Mila’s grade 11 year then. There were no classes online at that time. A mad scramble ensued to get these kids some sort of education. Eventually, schools tentatively opened for some. We had the option of keeping her home or sending her in. She insisted on going. For the next few months, and into the fall of her graduating year, schools opened. Then schools closed. Then schools opened. Her friend group shrunk considerably. Most parents abided by the “no socialising” rule. There was really nowhere for them to go anyway. Theatres, live music, restaurants, and even places like bowling and the roller rink were closed. Instead, the dwindling friend group that Mila was a part of had random, clandestine meet-ups—in a friend’s frigid barn, or someone’s basement.

        My thoughts have been in that realm since Jan 2020…something to do with what my Dad told me over the yrs….about his 4.3 Yrs in a NAZI Slave Labour Kampf to be precise.

  5. I’ve been stating since the beginning of this pandemic those who locked us down, took away our rights to protect us should be facing criminal prosecution via the world court. I still feel that way, every single politician, medical expert and doctor who supported the tyranny should be facing criminal charges for what they’ve done to the elderly, children and our youth. I don’t care how you vote, but what they’ve done in the name of science should be actionable in criminal courts. Heart breaking story, driving kids to drugs because of a virus.

  6. They tried all that here in the American deep south. Didn’t last long, there are way too many of us “good old boys ” who will not take shit like that. We never wore masks , we quickly squashed masks in schools. We have lots of very armed real men and women down here.

    1. Not here in Canada. Even suggesting armed resistance will get a few soy-boys a-virtue-signaling for all they’re worth, and if anyone engaged in armed resistance, the liberal and “conservative” members of the population would all get together to condemn said movement.
      Its pretty disgusting, really.

  7. Where was child services and the science on the lockdowns even 6 months ago? There has to be numbers somewhere of the deaths, suicides, drug addicts, the broken families, it’s all out there and they all ignored it. They wring their hands, their hands are tied, but they manage to put out a hand in your wallet for more money to fight this.

  12. That story highlights my fears for peaceful solutions to our current state of affairs. I have three daughters. During this pandemic, my middle daughter (16) attempted suicide and was hospitalized. My older daughter was kicked out of her third year of engineering because she wouldn’t get vaxed. And my youngest is now borderline retarded having received zero education for 2 years.

    I could easily see myself taking some very extreme actions.

  13. Mila’s and the story of many others affected by those oxygen thieves high on power put my blood pressure back into danger territory.
    Politicians, bureaucrats, law enforcement and “journalists” simply shrug and give a collective “Oh well.” If I had any love for them, it is gone now.

  14. My beloved wife of 30+ years passed through the Gates of Heaven and into the arms of Jesus 13 days ago. Mid fifties in good health, just turned her head to the side after taking an exaggerated breath while sitting on our sofa. Out of the blue. She had chronic lung issues from birth, but managed them thru a healthy diet and clean living.

    Medical examiner said she died of “COVID induced pnemonia”. They took x-rays and did an ultrasound. No autopsy required because it was the CV19. Lying, greedy bastitches. The hospital gets their Fauci/Tam Bucks and they are laughing all the way to the bank. Oh, I will get the written medical report in 8-12 months.

    If you believe the system isn’t rigged against us, come and share a cup of coffee with me. I have more to say…

    We celebrate her life tomorrow, no glaciers where she is, and she is absolutely delighted to never see another snow flake, both kinds, ever again!!

        She is at peace, we are picking up the pieces. Hardest day of my life today, but the family and friends are holding us up with sustained prayer. Holy Spirit has shone his love and grace on us completely.

  16. The saddest part is all the lockdowns didn’t work and we knew they weren’t working for years now. To top it off they’re still doing them. The public health officers in this country are gouls.

  17. My sons,20 and 22, are not the same people any more. The younger boy missed so much. Last minor hockey league game. Grade 12 may long and grad. Summer jobs and has been online at U of S. Older kid had huge promotion at work early March 2020……. Did not get any enjoyment and has worn a mask at work for God too long.

    Both were outgoing and engaging young men. Captains of sports teams and award winners in sport and academics. Now both are shells of former selves.
    (Local rant here). I would love to ask Ryan Miele who is he advocating for with restrictions and masking and everything else he spouts off. It is certainly not for my kids or our betterment.

    My wife and I, our hearts skip a beat every time kids sleep in too long and we wonder if everything is ok. Covid didn’t do that to us. Politicians did.

    I will never forget.

    1. I have jokingly said that I might have considered suicide had I spent the last of my HS years living thru this premeditated, weaponized, pandemic. Why? Because the last two years of my HS were two of the most formative and happy of my entire life. Yes, girls … and socializing … were a HUGE part of that. It was a time that saw my personality and self-confidence bloom into a lifetime of happiness. Without those two years and all the activities and friends I made (Friday Night Lights were a significant part of that) … I shudder to think what might have become of me. I pray they survive this completely unnecessary ordeal imposed by an arrogant, yet ignorant government.

  18. What a heart breaker. I am so sorry for Mila, her family and friends and for her lost life and all it’s promise. Please remember Prime Minister, your own children will be at these cross roads some day…what will their futures look like under your leadership?

  20. I had to quit drinking nearly a year ago, because I could tell that the isolation of Wuhan flu was driving me to drink.

    And I like to think I was much tougher a soul than Mila.

    When the true history of this awful episode is finally written, we’ll find out that Wuhan flu hysteria drove more people to kill themselves with drink, drugs or bodily self-harm than Wuhan flu itself ever did.

  21. The savagery of governments towards young people has been cruel beyond belief. One of my relations in 2019 had and English mark of 97%; last year in her Higher School Certificate, 60%! She was crushed by the friendlessness of life, the empty routine of bed, School on computer, YouTube, go for a walk, dinner, homework…more on screen, then bed. No social contact to defray big exam anxiety. It’s been a horror show for her and her family. The Nazi’s could not have done worse for ordinary people. And even the Jews could talk to their friends. Big media, big business and big unions have aided and abetted this at every step. It’s a conspiracy of unbridled evil that hates the ordinary lives of ordinary people.

  23. Robert … thank you for WARNING me to read the whole thing. Thank you, Heather, for passing on Lara’s agonizing story. I almost put the piece down, not wanting to read about the demise of this attractive, interesting young lady … as I immediately started to like her as described by Lara. But I kept reading … and discovered to my horror … the striking similarities to my own son’s suicide. Similar in every way except one – the COVID shove in the back.

    My son also smoked mass quantities of the (natural) ganja, GMO ganja, high potency THC ganja. And it caused the exact same psychoses. My son saw ghosts, and heard voices telling him what to do. He couldn’t stop the voices, except when on intense psychotropic drugs. Mila came from a good family, with all the “privilege” that most would call a jackpot on the birth lottery wheel. I’m no ER Doc. … but my son’s upbringing can only be described as privileged in todays parlance. My son’s last psychiatrist was just “trying to earn his trust” when he kicked my wife out of a group therapy session and when he changed all my sons medications that had been keeping him sane. Yeah, I would have expected more from a psychiatrist than your average school counselor, but my son was an adult … and I had no say in the matter. The similarities in their stories should be a huge WARNING flag for every parent reading this. Don’t let your children anywhere NEAR marijuana. It can destroy their minds.

    Lara did not provide details of Mila’s death, except in the foreshadowing story she told about Mila’s biography assignment. My son took his own life in the manner described in Mila’s biography. The similarities of their stories are shockingly similar, and tragic.

    Here in the SF Bay Area “medicinal” (yeah, right …) marijuana was legalized and easily available in a multitude of weed “pharmacies” long before your own idiot PM legalized the dangerous drug. So it was easy for my son to obtain. It is absolutely SHOCKING for me to read how your country has gone from legalized weed … to your school officials literally condoning its use by kids. Sure … destroy your brain by only smoking after your homework is done. We often speak of letting the camels nose in the tent … well, here you have it … legalized marijuana for adults has now expanded to … “the kids are going to do it anyway” … so School Counselors should try to be their friends and just shrug about it all. Nope. Schoolchildren use of marijuana is a medical EMERGENCY.
