How did that work out for ya?
The effective veterans campaign against PM Harper promised to hold Trudeau to account.
The result of their efforts.
Won the battle, lost the war. Many old enough to remember Trudeau the first, unification, and the lowest morale ever.
Idiots.
This will end well for BC.
Liberals, Greens failure to co-operate lets NDP pass bad laws
The whole sad spectacle seems to have proven only one point: The Liberals and Greens can’t co-operate even on things they agree upon.
Red Rose Country
After the failure of the right to invigorate the Calgary voter last week, the Alberta NDP goes on the offensive.
That’s not her new title, of course. Her new designation is infrastructure minister. But her unofficial job will be to build the government’s credibility and popularity in Calgary. That is a daunting construction project.
The NDP may have won 15 seats in the city last election, but it is deeply unpopular in Calgary, according to every public opinion poll. Premier Rachel Notley is looking for ways to reverse the trend.
Cause the polls are so accurate….
The Weirding Way in Cuba
Alarm raised when Intelligence Officers were impacted.
The first disturbing reports of piercing, high-pitched noises and inexplicable ailments pointed to someone deliberately targeting the U.S. government’s intelligence network on the communist-run island, in what seemed like a bone-chilling escalation of the tit-for-tat spy games that Washington and Havana have waged over the last half century.
Iconoclasm
Usually though, iconoclasm is about destroying your competitors religious symbols.
Not your own.

Totally fair now that we get The Tyee shut-down, right?
Steven Fletcher booted from caucus
Harsh, but considering the circumstances, necessary.
The decision to shun Fletcher comes after a difficult year which saw the Assiniboia MLA frequently cross swords with his own party. He introduced numerous private member’s bills without consulting his caucus or submitting them to internal reviews. Fletcher also filibustered at committee a government bill that would create a stand-alone energy efficiency agency.
The last straw, the sources confirmed, was Fletcher’s collaboration with Manitoba Forward, an advocacy group that has also been very critical of the creation of a new energy efficiency organization.
Really, Steven?
I’m sure it was clean.
If this bothers you,
Stop it. Stop movies. Stop Music. Stop Television. Cut the cord.

Nothing surprises me about Alberta politics, these days.
Will the Alberta Progressive Conservative party dare to kick out Jason Kenney at this late point in the chaotic leadership race?
The PC board members might just do it.
The fight for the old party is no longer political. It’s existential.
Peace?
Colombia and FARC to sign peace deal today.
Mr Santos said the deal with the Farc was fair and that it made those who committed war crimes accountable.
The rebels have agreed to lay down their weapons and the process that will be verified by the United Nations.
“Maybe some of them will hide some guns. That’s a natural thing that happens in these peace processes,” he said.
“But they are going to give up the majority of their weapons.”
See, Energy East?
Huma’s Husband, AGAIN?
At some point you have to ask about the mental health of Wiener.
Update: Weiner gets what he wants, away from her, because that’s the only explanation that makes sense.
Actual headline.
Vancouver’s supervised-injection site sees unusually high number of overdoses
Emphasis mine.
I guess that’s kinda like if I drink 75 shots of rye, the bartender is supervising me.

It’s a start.
Michelle Malkin lets us know that some of the H-1B fraudsters are going to jail.
Well, there are easier ways….
to commit political suicide.
The days of Liberals losing to the NDP are over, so that means the NDP has to go left having failed to capture the centre. Who wants to lead a party that’s effectively back in the Audrey McLaughlin days?
If Trump looks at H-1B’s
He may garner some of that Silicon Valley vote.

What is the VQA
Anyone who follows MP Michelle Rempel on Twitter knows that she has an affinity for wine. I share that enjoyment. (and for craft-beer, being an all-grain home-brewer)
You would also have noticed that she has been advocating strongly for the Canadian wine industry in recent weeks. Being unaware of any problems in the Canadian Wine industry, I was curious what the issues were, so I asked her. She pointed me to this Global News report. So, as gathered from that, she’s advocating for strict country of origin laws regarding grapes and grape juice.
This after the US Congress was nice enough to eliminate their Country of Origin labels on Alberta Beef. Nice!
Course anyone who actually cares about wine would immediately ask, isn’t that what VQA Ontario and the BC Wine Authority ensures. The VQA statutes state the VQA label be prominently displayed on the same face as the front label. What’s the problem here?
Well, apparently it is an issue. Instead of telling people what VQA is, we should run to the gov’t and have them lawfully sanction those Canadian businesses looking to just sell wine.
So, Michelle, consider this a public service announcement.
Buy this:

There, now we don’t need more stupid gov’t regulations on successful industries to make up for uninformed and uncaring buyers.
