Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

These days, I see so many dominos ready to fall; fiscal difficulties, an overheated stock market, the possibility of recession caused by trade wars and rising prices and interest rates that drain consumers’ bank accounts, and so on.
what do you think Marmot, given that huge debt and a LOT of that going on, is a precursor to hyperinflation do you think that could happen on a world wide scale?
l read somewhere it took the great USA 200 years Reagan administration to acquire it 1st trillion debt. the most recent add’l trillion, well a guess wd be maybe 2 years or 1% of the first
Meh. I’m poised … cash-at-the-ready … to buy another DIP.
I bought the 2008 DIP …
I bought the COVID DIP … and …
I bought the FAKE Trump Tariff-Day DIP.
No, I’m not a day-trading, institutional investor with access to programs that execute split-second trading. Don’t need to be. Just be ready to BUY BUY BUY into the panic DIPS.
I can’t WAIT for the next DIP. But there won’t be one anytime soon … unless globalist ghouls unleash another deadly *smirk* novel virus on mankind … just to STOP the Trump prosperity. But SHE and HER boyfriend Fauxci are near death … so it won’t be them again this time.
Is Wall Street aware of your prognistication powers? I’ve been investing for 40 years, and I know better than to make definitive statements about what the market will do. Disaster can come from any direction at any time.
Ready. One must be READY for it. Powder dry and all that.
It’s not market-timing … it’s not subtle investing … it’s a giant gaping hole that opens up OPPORTUNITY.
uh, wrong agin KM, it is *perfectly* legit predicting WHAT the market will do that it has 100 times before. its just the *when* the unknown. best strategy is be vigilant and be prepared for buying opportunities. l think thats what KJ is saying.
Kritter, Kenji said that there won’t be a dip anytime soon.
You would next year’s newspaper to know that.
My glass is half full. Sorry you are always running on EMPTY.
But as I clearly stated … I’m ready.
You made a definitive prediction that you couldn’t possibly be sure of.
But if you’re ready then you have money sitting on the sidelines. That might be good or bad. If the market crashes soon, you’re golden. If the markets rises for a long time, then you miss out with that money.
Pssst … that was a CONDITIONAL statement. Not in the least bit definitive. Is something being lost in translation into Mandarin?
‘how can money disappear’
those asking such a Q need to brush up on some economics courses.
l for one, just had a brief conversation w the chap that runs the men’s prayer meeting,
told him my early BSc credits incl some economics. my understanding of the subject was enough
to remove the ‘lure’ of money from my mind, l recognized money for what it was.
that was back in 70s.
whooooooole new generation is yet to learn the same ‘lesson in life’
Re “how can money disappear”?
To paraphrase one of Kate’s fav quotes …. Slowly at first and then quickly!! 😉
It’s not really money that disappears in a crash, but rather the willingness of creditors to lend. That’s when things get rough.
Huh? You mean like The FED has been doing to the US Economy? Strangling it … to Save it.
The paper value of assets disappear in a crash. One day your trading account is worth a million bucks and you can sell it for a million bucks and have that value in cash. The next day it isn’t, and then your broke.
And your gold is just a piece of metal at the end of the day that won’t feed your family when the shit hits the fan. The economy is what we all AGREE it is … and that includes the value of plastic Canadian Loonies … and your gilded belief in shiny metal
Yeah … print more plastic money and flood the supply of Loonies … and you might as well burn it to keep warm
I have enough instant ramen noodles stockpiled to feed a small village for at least a year. BRING. IT. ON.
Yeah … but I just read Canada has a “water shortage” … so you may not be able to boil water for those noodles. And if the wind isn’t blowing … your electric kettle won’t boil the water … if you can find any!
GYM is immune to the economic vicissitudes of other octogenarians, as there is always a market for his five dollar red light handjobs.
