A Broken, Post-Nationalist Canada

Adam Zivo has written a powerful op-ed in the National Post:

Growing up in suburban Toronto, I occasionally had classmates who, being the children of immigrants, like myself, seemed spiritually homeless. They spent their summers in their parents’ countries, which were like gauzy pocket universes, while Canada remained a land of mud and chores, tolerated but not loved, pallid against the glow of a romanticized elsewhere.

As a teenager, I did not want to be like these people. My Serbian parents taught me to be Canadian first, and, though this identity seemed nebulous (peacekeeping and hockey?), I assumed, perhaps naively, that it would later solidify and provide an enveloping sense of belonging. Against this promise, maintaining ties to the home country seemed parochial and claustrophobic.

As I got older, though, Canadian nationalism was not reinforced, but demolished under the auspices of “inclusivity.” The architects of this transformation were, broadly speaking, cultural and economic elites for whom nationalism was superfluous, because they already belonged to a global community defined by class — an urban world of minimalist AirBnbs and fusion tapas that looked identical whether in Toronto, Paris, Tokyo or Mumbai.

The Beginning of the End of Twitter 1.0

In my digital calendar, I denote all sorts of important events – births, deaths, historical events, etc. On March 6, 2019, one of the most important Joe Rogan podcasts ever occurred: Joe Rogan Experience #1258 – Jack Dorsey, Vijaya Gadde & Tim Pool. Here’s a summary of what occurred.

The following is entirely my opinion, but this video is proof positive that Vijaya Gadde was absolutely one of the worst people in the world at that time. Since then, we’ve witnessed other tyrants like Thierry Breton of the EU and a bunch of anti-free speech zealots in Canada, the UK, and Germany, but she was clearly a pioneer in this arena.

A Vast Society of Blue-Pilled Ignoramuses

The following insight comes from Dr. Drew Pinsky so I don’t want to claim it was an original thought of mine, but I do think it’s most insightful:

During the the past 6 years, the American people have been exposed to 3 incidents of major corruption:

1. Covid (2020+)
2. Fraud (2025+)
3. Epstein files (2026)

That was Dr. Drew’s insight. Now, pause for a moment to think about those people in your various circles who are not aware of 1, 2, or 3 whatsoever or, more importantly, the corruption that 1, 2, & 3 have revealed.

Sadly, I know a whole lot of NPCs who are aware of 1 & 3, but would adamantly deny that any actual corruption has been revealed. This is the power of propaganda on weak-minded individuals who are not curious at all.

The Golden Opportunity that Canada Missed

Americans from coast to coast are celebrating the dual gold medal Olympic hockey wins. But beyond that, as Batya Ungar-Sargon accurately writes, “It’s the vibe shift we needed. Patriotism is back, baby! It’s hot! It’s cool again! And it is in da club.”

Thought experiment: If Canada had won even one of the two gold medals, would Canadians from coast to coast have seized the opportunity and celebrated some well deserved national pride? Imagine if this now legendary photo was of Connor McDavid, wrapped in a Canadian flag.  Would the cultural gatekeepers have “permitted” Canadians to feel good about their country for once, or would that be deemed uncouth by the legion of Karens in Canada’s urban centres?
