  1. That’s an interesting move. It might be a message to Canadians in Winnipeg who wish to visit the US with a foreign VISA. The process just got much harder. It, also, sends a message to US travelers that maybe you want to pick a location that has a US Consulate in the event that they need assistance or a replacement Passport. The message being, don’t go to Winnipeg and spend your money there.

Minimal, you say. Winnipeg welcomes over 3.5 million total annual visitors, American travelers hold a significant economic footprint, accounting for roughly 25% of all international visitor expenditures in the city. Zoinks!!!!

  2. May I suggest this is part of the Trump Admin’s. WAR on Fraud. Hundreds of useless government salaries and bloated government pensions GRIFTED from the American taxpayer. Money for nothing and your Canadian chicks for free.

  3. Even in a shithole like Canada, Winnipeg stands out as particularly shitty. Probably expensive as the US citizens forced to work there would get hardship pay, no doubt.

  4. Years ago I was crossing the border south of Winnipeg to go shopping in the US. The border dude asked me where I was going. I said Fargo. He asked “what’s in Fargo?” I said “Nuttin'”. He nodded and let me through.

  5. The Winnipeg consulate handles trade issues and bilateral relations more than visa processing/passports (if it even does those). Winnipeg sits at the northern end of a transcontinental logistics system that has its southern end in C. America — very important as far as NAFTA/USMCA is concerned. It’s also a hub for NORAD operations.
We will be dealing from here on out with Canada at the federal level, more formally.

Thank you PM Kinew for the opportunity.
