The Modern Left: Unhappy, Miserable Souls
I’m down in Silicon Valley this weekend to watch the Sharks-Canucks game tonight. Watching the local news out of San Francisco last night, this was the lead story. Here’s a video taken by one of the participants in the “protest”:
Just imagine, for a second, taking your children Christmas shopping and encountering riot police blocking a horde of smelly, dirty neanderthals from advancing forward. Why did the police have to be there? Because the iPad toting barbarians wanted to disrupt a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Stop for a moment to digest the full meaning of such actions.
Who, in their right mind, would do such a thing? What’s next for these creeps? Blocking children from seeing Santa Claus at the mall? Stripping houses of Xmas lights? Blocking Christmas tree lots? Preventing kids from gathering chocolate eggs at Easter? Standing in front of Girl Guides selling cookies?!?
Through it all these Rabid Leftists are absolutely unapologetic, feeling no shame whatsoever. They have been so deeply brainwashed that they believe they’re on a righteous crusade to change the behaviour of the rest of us “to be more enlightened” like them. It doesn’t take much research to find out when in history forced reeducation was tried before … and always ended up very unpleasantly.
Charles Adler shares his thoughts on what’s going on with these thugs.
For the record, I absolutely believe that Christmas has become too commercialized. For many it has become all about the shopping, all about the gifts. I have made my own decision to cut down on the gift portion of the holiday and instead focus on writing personal extended letters to the loved ones in my life. But never have I dreamed of telling others what they should do with their time & money, let alone tried to physically stop them from engaging in any such activities. That’s a step way too far that no freedom loving person would ever do. But as we see all around our daily lives, Leftists have never actually believed in Freedom, have they?!

EVIDENCE – Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Ms. Candice Hoeppner (Portage—Lisgar, CPC):
Minister Toews, I want to thank you personally for your persistent support for those like me in our caucus who stand against the long-gun registry.
Bill C-391 and C-19 are both straightforward bills that end the requirements for individuals and businesses to register non-restricted, non-prohibited firearms. I was concerned this morning when I read media reports of an analysis done by officials. A certain official thought that both C-391 and C-19 could have a number of unintended consequences, including the trafficking of firearms at the border.
I was concerned about this report. Is it accurate? Can you comment on this official’s opinion?Hon. Vic Toews:
I had a chance to take a look at that article. I wasn’t familiar with the memorandum, which an official in my department had prepared, I assume, for internal purposes. But now that I’ve seen it, it’s clear that the analysis presented by this official is factually flawed; it’s incorrect. I’ve asked my deputy minister to look into the matter.
Contrary to the suggestion made in the analysis, neither Bill C-19 nor Bill C-391 removes any controls on the importation of firearms. In fact, we have increased penalties for the illegal importation of firearms. Canadians gave our government a strong mandate to end this wasteful, ineffective long-gun registry once and for all. That’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re not getting into the areas this memorandum suggested we might get into. I think the memorandum is phrased to suggest that if we did something else, the repercussions would be such and such. But we’re not going down that road.Ms. Candice Hoeppner:
Just to be clear, C-19 doesn’t change the way our border officials are able to monitor, track, or stop legal guns from coming into the country.
Hon. Vic Toews:
No. The analysis of whether or not something is a prohibited or non-restricted firearm has nothing to do with the registry. That’s an analysis that the officers make at the border and elsewhere throughout the country. Tying that to C-19 is a bit of a red herring. As I said, the analysis is quite flawed.
Ms. Candice Hoeppner:
Thank you for clarifying that. I’m sure it will be clarified in future media reports as well.
Hon. Vic Toews:
Don’t bet on it.

Tonight we take a look at a great unsung Korean war hero whose steely nerves and dedication won her the respect, honour, and admiration of the Marines who served with her. During one particularly fierce five day battle in 1953,
…she made 51 trips from the Ammunition Supply Point to the firing sites, 95% of the time by herself…and walked over 35 miles through open rice paddies and up steep mountains with enemy fire coming in at the rate of 500 rounds per minute. And as she so often did, she would carry wounded soldiers down the mountain to safety, unload them, get reloaded with ammo, and off she would go back up to the guns.
Here’s a brief video tribute to the aptly-named Sgt Reckless

Economic Reality
As much as Barack Obama’s supporters try to deny it, the fact is that the U.S. President has consistently demonized employers in America. Now some of those chickens are coming home to roost.
Climategate 2.0: The World Bank?
A little imagination goes a long way;
At http://foia2011.org I searched for worldbank.org and found 32 e-mails going back as far as 1998. I have only looked at three so far. Looks like the good old World Bank may be something of a puppet master.
[…]
Long but worth reading. Seems Robert Watson of the World Bank was TELLING good old Rajendra Pachauri and the crowd what to put into the Summary for Policymakers…
Update. Look you silly climate conspiracy nuts – Why on earth would the World Bank want to mess about with climate science?
Climate Change Worse Than Apartheid?
So says Desmond Tutu. What say you?
A snippet:
According to a press release from the Anglican Communion, faith leaders participating in the campaign will reiterate what it termed “scientists’ predictions that that if greenhouse gas emissions are not curbed, by the end of the century average world temperatures will rise between 2 degrees Centigrade and 4 degrees Centigrade, and up to 6 degrees Centigrade in parts of Africa.”
Did these future temperature increase predictions come from the same folks embroiled in Climategate?
It’s Time To End The War On Drunk Driving
Now is the time at SDA when we told you so!
SDA, August 2008;
Truly, drunk drivers need a better press agent. There’s no other way to explain how the same people who point to reductions in drunk driving rates through enforcement and stiffer sentencing, also argue that “jail is not the answer” for the criminal drug abuser.
Witness this odd defense of “safe injection sites” by Barbara Yaffe;– Between June of 2007 and June of 2008, 222 users overdosed at the East Hastings clinic and received immediate intervention. Some of those users might otherwise have died in a back alley.
Just as drunks die, unmourned and unexcused, in alleys and ditches every day of the year. What’s so damned special about junkies that they merit the equivalent of a taxpayer funded drunk drivers’ lane with rescue teams at the ready?
In May 2010, John Fougere, a 22-year veteran employee for the city of Hamilton, Ont., got into a city-owned vehicle while impaired and drove onto a freeway. Fougere was authorized to drive the vehicle, but only from his home to his job site and back. Fougere crashed into a tractor-trailer, doing $9,000 in damage. No one was hurt, and when Fougere was arrested, he twice tested at three times the legal limit for alcohol. The city quickly fired him, and Fougure was convicted of impaired driving and given a $1,500 fine and had his license suspended for a year.
But now an arbitrator has ordered the city to reinstate him. Arbitrator George Surdykowski reportedly agreed that the city was justified in firing Fougere, but since alcoholism is a disability and Fougere has shown remorse and has committed to not drink, he deserves a second chance.
[…]
But while Fougere may well suffer from a disease, a disability he can’t control, he still committed a dangerous crime, using a city vehicle. He endangered his life, and the lives of his fellow citizens, and put the city at incredible legal risk. And now that the arbitrator has decided that it must continue to do that, all on Fougere’s say-so that he’s much better now with nothing more than the odd drug and alcohol test to confirm that.
What message does this send?
Where ya been, Matt???

OWS vs. Hygiene
When the “Occupy” protests started, they sure did appear to be a dirty & smelly bunch. But things have gotten so bad that they’re now posing a health risk to themselves and others. In between praising them for being the greatest ever addition to the world, didn’t their “Progressive” Mommys and Daddys ever teach them the basics of hygiene?

First Nations Financial Transparency Act
A bill tabled in the House of Commons is intended to fulfil Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s 2011 campaign pledge to revive a failed bid by Saskatchewan MP Kelly Block to pass a private member’s bill, which was called “unnecessary and heavy-handed” by the Assembly of First Nations.
But the new bill goes even further than Block’s proposal, which would have required annual reporting of all payments made to on-reserve politicians from federal coffers.
Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan said Bill C-27 will give his office the authority to withhold transfers and even cancel financing agreements if a band refuses to comply with the legislation. It also requires bands to disclose publicly payments made to chiefs and councillors from “any entity that it controls,” such as a casino or real-estate holdings.
The legislation will also require public disclosure of audited financial statements, which wasn’t part of Block’s legislation.
Endorsed by Chief Darcy Bear, Chief of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation, which of course, makes him a racist.

One More Reason I’m Glad I Didn’t Register Any Guns
Before we go on, let’s clear up some terminology. The so-called database that bitter-enders want to preserve is the registry by another name. Whatever you call it, this is the record, compiled under threat of the criminal prosecution, of shotguns and rifles owned by Canadian farmers, duck hunters and target shooters. Stephen Harper’s majority Conservative government campaigned on a very clear promise to abolish this registry.

Big Government Replacing Mommy & Daddy
If you’ve ever wondered precisely what Canadians have deemed themselves to be helpless and want an endless stream of government programs to assist them in every facet of their lives, may I present “Victoria”:

This screenshot was taken yesterday on CKNW’s Facebook page. Her words could have come from The Onion or SNL, but indeed they came directly from her very own “progressive” mind. This woman is not a young kid. Just imagine the damage she has done by imparting her “wisdom” onto all the youth around her.
For those interested in the cyber equivalent of banging their head against the wall, here’s her Twitter page. She clearly deserves a gold medal for mindless drivel.
