Still Too Many
Dan Knight- New StatsCan Survey Shows Canadians Losing Faith in Parliament and Media
…just 28.3% of Canadians say they have high confidence (ratings of 4 or 5 out of 5) in Federal Parliament. That’s not a typo. Fewer than three in ten Canadians trust the institution that claims to represent them. Even worse, 40% report low confidence—the highest level of distrust recorded for any major institution measured.
Only 36.2% of Canadians say they have high confidence in the media, while nearly 30% express outright low confidence. Among men, distrust is even sharper, reflecting a growing perception that legacy outlets function less as watchdogs and more as enforcement arms for a narrow ideological consensus. Canadians see the bias. They see the omissions. And they are no longer buying what’s being sold.
Money For Nothing
The sheer magnitude of this taxpayer largess boggles the mind. And yet many reserves are without potable water. My guess is that most of the money is going to lawyers and “consultants”. It’s long past the point where this needs to stop, but a population browbeaten by the residential school mythology seems tragically incapable of raising any objections.
When the Liberals first took power in 2015, their own estimates showed that total federal government spending on what they deemed “Indigenous priorities” was about $11 billion. Within 10 years, this had nearly tripled. By 2024, internal Department of Finance estimates were showing that planned “investments in Indigenous Priorities” were set to hit $32 billion.
Put another way, it would take Manitoba’s entire annual economic activity just to cover the increase in federal Indigenous spending since 2014.
How Deep, Senor Maduro?
@DataRepublican: To understand why Maduro’s Venezuela was useful to the foreign-policy order, we need a concept rarely spoken outside foreign-policy circles yet central to how states operate: legibility.

Stuff At The Expense of Others
So Mamdani is instituting free daycare for New Yorkers? It’s policies that make me wonder why any Republican would want Canada as a 51st state. Taxpayer financed child, medical and now dental care are commonplace functions of the state here since we are presently governed by a host of Mamdani clones. Political integration would add nearly insurmountable pressure to fully socialize these sectors of the American economy.
New York City parents may soon have access to free child care for their 2-year-olds, under a plan unveiled Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani — a major boon for city’s mayor on one of his signature campaign promises just days into his new job.

Great Success!
National Post- Federal government confirms 25 guns collected in ‘buyback’ pilot,
Public Safety Canada, the department overseeing the program, had, up until Wednesday, only signed two agreements with local jurisdictions whose police agreed to collect firearms to be turned over by gun owners under the controversial program. Those services were in Winnipeg and Cape Breton, the latter of which helped the federal government pilot a test-run of the program, set to be rolled out nationally sometime this month.

The brilliant, fair & balanced folks at PBS have insisted for some time that only 15% of their funding came from the federal government.
It’s thus extremely fascinating to learn today that they will be shutting down entirely.
This should be a valuable lesson to Woke Leftists that if they take public taxpayer dollars then they need to shelve their radicalism and . . . wait for it . . . and carefully & responsibly spend the money given to them by everyone, not just their rabid far-left echo chamber.
We can all dream that this serves as a template for some future non-cowardly Canadian politicians!
