We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars

Via Instapundit;

According to reporting from Reuters, on March 30, 2026, General Motors’ Detroit-based electric vehicle plant Factory Zero announced an extension of its production halt until April 13, with the plant manager citing aligning with “market dynamics” and initiating temporary layoffs for approximately 1,300 workers. Furthermore, in December 2025, Ford Motor Company announced a USD 19.5 billion capital impairment charge related to its electric vehicle operations and cut roughly 1,600 jobs at its BlueOval SK battery plant in Kentucky. Ford simultaneously announced it would cease production of the all-electric F-150 Lightning and abandon its production plans for the next-generation T3 electric pickup and electric vans. Media reports also indicate that Magna’s factory in St. Clair, Michigan, a supplier of EV components to General Motors, now sits nearly vacant; as the automotive industry recalibrates its electric vehicle investments, the plant has suffered a significant blow and is essentially in a state of shutdown or large-scale dormancy.

What once was heralded as the “hope for revival” of the American automotive industry is now facing a rapid decline.

Federal prosecutors say they have uncovered a large-scale vehicle theft operation in the Washington, D.C. region, one that allegedly relied on OBD-II tools and an export pipeline that stretched as far as Africa.[…]

According to officials, the group used handheld OBD-II scanners—readily available online—to bypass factory security systems. These tools can reprogram a vehicle to accept a blank key fob, allowing thieves to take a car without forced entry. Authorities say the process can be completed in under a minute.

“They don’t need keys and they don’t need hot wiring,” Pirro said. “No smashed windows, no drama. Just a sleek electronic device called an Autel, A-U-T-E-L. And in under a minute, the car’s brain is rewritten. The car is gone in 60 seconds. Welcome to the new world of car theft.”

Pirro also said there should be more regulation surrounding ownership of OBD-II devices.

Better yet would be regulation to end the ridiculous key fob. That a vehicle can be driven away without the fob being physically present may be the greatest automotive breakthrough since the decision to move the fuel pump into the gas tank.

A massive trucking scandal is (again) unfolding in Illinois and you can be sure the Chicago/IL media will go out of its way to ignore it.[…]

The FMCSA (under DOT) in continuing an ongoing audit of IL SOS office related to the issuance of at least 10,000 non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses over the past few years.

These are truck driver’s licenses awarded to non residents–foreigners–including some here illegally.

In 2024 and 2025, the state saw a huge jump in the number of non-domiciled CDL issued by IL SOS. In fact, an industry watchdog group obtained records via FOIA that showed roughly 40% of ALL CDLs issued by IL SOS in 2025 went to foreigners.

FMCSA determined at least 20% of all non-domiciled CDLs issued by IL SOS were done so illegally. Applicants did not furnish federally required paperwork including unexpired passports and IL SOS issued CDLs for a longer period of time than the applicants’ work authorization permitted.

In a recent interview aired on RED FM, Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, who has been ordered deported the courts, the CBSA, the Immigration and Refugee Board, as well as the appeals court, says his last option is to challenge his deportation order if the CBSA does not allow his request to defer the decision on his new application to stay in Canada on “humanitarian” grounds to the Minister of Immigration or the Minister of Public Safety.

If what he says is true, he is not going anywhere anytime soon. Avenues to avoid deportation after destroying 29 families seem to be endless in Canada.
