1. I thought everyone who lived in the country understood this.
   We had a neighbor who always drove big old land yachts, and would fly down gravel roads at ~70 mph in a giant Chrysler or Buick and the washboards become tolerable at high speed.

2. I thought roads were built with washboards to facilitate money laundering?
