Operation Epic Fury

Coulda had a pipeline: “…the scheduled increase in the industrial carbon price to $110 per tonne April 1 couldn’t come at a worse time.”

More background on the installation hit.

Israel targeted oil depots under the control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. For years the IRGC has used state oil assets as its private revenue stream. Instead of operating through a normal government budget, it was granted control over oil resources and the income they generate.

Those funds have financed the regime’s regional war machine—paying for proxy militias, purchasing weapons and equipment from China, and underwriting destabilization from Lebanon to Yemen.

Operation Epic Fury: Day 5

During an official Department of War (DOW) press conference Thursday afternoon, Cooper said that the number of Iranian ships now sunk under ocean waves thanks to American forces is up to 30, with a particularly large vessel set ablaze just before the press conference began.

“if I just look back over the last 24 hours of the operation compared to where we were at its start, ballistic missile attacks have decreased by 90% since day one,” Cooper said, illuminating how few weapons the Iranian regime still has at its disposal.

He continued, “Drone attacks have decreased by 83% since day one. Having said this, we remain vigilant. Our strikes against the Iranian Navy have intensified. You may have heard the President say, just a little while ago that we have sunk or destroyed 24 ships. That was true at the moment. We’re now up over 30 ships.”

Most impressively of all, and perhaps explaining why Hegseth and Cooper were late starting the press conference, they had just received word of another victory: “And in just the last few hours, we hit an Iranian drone carrier ship, roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier, and as we speak, it’s on fire,” Cooper confirmed.

Flashback: The arc of the media narrative is long, but it bends toward criminal stupidity.

In Feb. 1979, the @nytimes ran “Trusting Khomeini,” an op-ed from a @Princeton “expert” who opined: “Having created a new model of popular revolution based, for the most part, on nonviolent tactics, Iran may yet provide us with a desperately-needed model of humane governance.”

They don’t want us to focus on this…”

Operation Epic Fury

Status report from the Institute for the Study of War. (Good X account to follow)

Iranian Retaliation: The rate and scale of Iranian ballistic missile strikes targeting Israel suggest that US and Israeli efforts to degrade Iran’s retaliatory capabilities are succeeding.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that Iran’s retaliation in response to the joint US-Israeli air campaign has not inflicted US casualties or caused meaningful damage to US military installations used to conduct offensive operations against Iran.

Multiple Iranian drone strikes on civilian infrastructure in Gulf countries wounded civilians on February 28.

Several members of Iran’s Axis of Resistance, including Hezbollah and the Houthis, have condemned the US and Israeli strikes in Iran but have not conducted retaliatory attacks as of ISW-CTP’s 04:00 PM ET data cutoff. These Axis of Resistance members could decide at any time to attack the United States or Israel in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, however.

[…]

The combined US-Israeli force killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and it is unclear who is currently ruling Iran. US President Donald Trump confirmed on February 28 that Khamenei was killed. The Iranian constitution stipulates that the President, the Judiciary Chief, and a member of the Guardian Council will take over the responsibilities of the Supreme Leader until Iran’s Assembly of Experts convenes to select a new leader. Khamenei was reportedly making plans prior to the current conflict for who he wanted to rule Iran in the event of his death, however.

The combined force conducted nearly 900 strikes on Iranian targets in the first 12 hours of its campaign, according to an unspecified US official speaking to Fox News. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it struck 500 Iranian targets. The regime’s internet shutdown has almost certainly limited the amount of information about US and Israeli strikes coming out of Iran. ISW-CTP’s strike data, therefore, only reflects a portion of the total amount of US and Israeli strikes.

CENTCOM Update: As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing.

Thank you for your attention to this matter: “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS.”

Peak Israel.

Glenn Reynolds;

President Reagan intimidated the mullahs a bit, but never seriously retaliated for the Beirut barracks bombing that killed over 200 Marines along with over a score of other service personnel. George H.W. Bush invaded Iraq but left the mullahs largely alone. Bill Clinton did nothing of substance. George W. Bush had a chance to bring the Iranians to heel after the conquest of Iraq, but inexplicably failed to press his advantage. Barack Obama was, basically, complicit in their nuclear program, to the point of famously sending them pallets of cash totaling over a billion dollars.

President Trump, on the other hand, killed General Soleimani and told other Iranian leaders that they could be next. And now they are next.

The hour of your freedom is at hand.

Summary of events;

The coordinated attacks, named Operation Epic Fury by the Pentagon and Roaring Lion by Israel, hit Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s residence, parliament, National Security Council headquarters, and radar sites. Trump urged Iran’s military to surrender and civilians to overthrow the government amid unconfirmed reports of top officials killed.
Iran fired back with ballistic missiles at Israel, US assets in Bahrain, and sites in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, as Gulf states condemned the aggression and the region braced for escalation.

Antizionism is utter cyanide poison for democratic governance not due to anything related to Israel, but because it turns your lawmakers into conspiratorial imbeciles. I can think of no more textbook example of this than the complete ruin of the NDP.

Keir Starmer’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch and a convicted terrorist is standing for election in Birmingham.

Shahid Butt was found guilty of a plot to blow up the British consulate in Yemen in 1999, but said the charges were fabricated and that he was tortured into making a confession.

Both Labour and Conservative politicians raised concerns about his suitability when he announced his plan to stand as an independent candidate, in the Sparkhill ward on the Birmingham City Council.

Butt said: “If they think I’m an extremist then I can’t change that opinion – at the end of the day it comes down to the people of Sparkhill.”

Seems plausible.

Butt, who was also found guilty of plotting to blow up an Anglican church and a Swiss-owned hotel in Yemen, was one of eight Britons and two Algerians convicted in 1999.

During the trial, the prosecution said the plots were part of a campaign by militants to drive western influence out of Yemen and set up an Islamic state.

Hamas ally faces “doxxing” questions;

In our discussion with the organization, another Canadian journalist raised an even more immediate issue. They asked about controversy surrounding a website in Canada called “The Maple” which has faced criticism in Canada’s Jewish diaspora over concerns that the website’s journalists could be endangering Jewish Canadian citizens, schools, and community organizations.

The community’s fears center on The Maple’s “Find IDF Soldiers” project, launched in February 2025 by the publication’s opinion editor, Davide Mastracci. The database initially listed 85 Canadians who had served in the Israel Defense Forces, and has since expanded to over 200 profiles. The website also features a separate directory titled “GTA to IDF” that lists Jewish schools, synagogues, and children’s camps, claiming associations with the IDF.

The Maple maintains an unapologetically pro-Palestinian editorial stance and has focused extensively on Middle East policy since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. The “Find IDF Soldiers” database profiles are based on publicly available information from news articles, social media posts, and LinkedIn profiles. Among those listed is Ben Mizrachi, a 22-year-old dual Canadian-Israeli citizen and former IDF medic who was killed by Hamas terrorists while attempting to aid victims at the Nova Music Festival on October 7.

Nitsana addressed The Maple site question explicitly. She explained: “In the beginning, they listed IDF soldiers’ names. And now they list synagogues and schools and camps. So we are taking action against them.”
