The president of the Oregon Senate said Tuesday there weren’t enough votes in his majority Democratic caucus to approve a landmark climate bill that has sparked a walkout by Republicans and exacerbated tensions between urban and rural areas.
All 11 Republican senators extended their walkout involving the issue for a sixth day, denying Democrats enough lawmakers to muster a vote on the plan that calls for capping and trading pollution credits among companies.
Hundreds of protesters flooded the capitol steps to protest the GOP walkout then unexpectedly found themselves pushing back against Democratic Senate President Peter Courtney, who disclosed that the climate plan has lost support among members of his own party.
The legislation “does not have the votes on the Senate floor,” he said. “I’ve done as much as I can, and I’ll continue to try.” […]
Conservative senators have fled the state to avoid taking a vote on what would be the nation’s second statewide cap and trade program after California, saying it will kill jobs, raise the cost of fuel and gut small businesses in rural areas.
Senate Minority Leader Herman Baertschiger said in a statement that Republicans still won’t return to the Capitol until they receive further assurances from Democrats that the legislation is dead.
Good for them.

Project Veritas has obtained a newly leaked document from Google that appears to show a Google employee and member of Google “transparency-and-ethics” group calling conservative and libertarian commentators, including Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro, “nazis.” Project Veritas received this document after the release of its investigation into Google through the “Be Brave” campaign at VeritasTips@protonmail.com.
The email apparently was sent as part of the Google “transparency-and-ethics” group internal communications and suggests that content from PragerU, Jordan Peterson, and Ben Shapiro should be disabled from the “suggestion feature.”

I saw your interview of E. Jean Carroll. Her story sounds a lot like an episode of Special Victims Unit—Episode 11, Season 13

David French and his fellow peacetime conservatives are at it again, wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth as U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) takes a run at curtailing the immense power of Big Tech.
As French channels Neville Chamberlain, the fact is that unless the tech companies are forcefully confronted, now, in the immediate, our self-governing republic will be over in less than a generation and we will be ruled by a tech oligarchy. […]
If we do not correct our mistakes, our great rights of speech and assembly, offline and online, are in danger. Someone is going to be the final defender of our natural rights as codified in the Constitution. Do we want un-elected global monopolistic corporations—entities that may or may not consider themselves American companies, ruling you by algorithms? Do we want them limiting the flow of information in the online public arena, manipulating it to benefit themselves and their view of the world? Or do we want duly elected leaders of a constitutional republic defending our rights?
In a constitutional republic, all power flows from the people to their various elected officials, not to corporations or private companies. And when monopolies develop, in order to reset to a free-market dynamic, monopolies must be broken up so that competition can benefit the consumer once more.

Transgenderism is simply a step towards the normalization of pedophila;
On Saturday, a library in the Seattle area hosted a “Teen Pride” event for children ages 9-19. The event featured drag queens, all sorts of explicit adult-themed advice, and a raffle for dangerous transgender chest binders. Three local moms, concerned about children being exposed to such things at a taxpayer-funded library, filmed the event in order to expose it. Police escorted them out by force, warning that they were guilty of “criminal trespass.”
The “Teen Pride” event was billed as “a pride celebration designed by teens for teens!”
And your governments are too cowardly to stop it.
If you thought competitive target shooting was safe from the rapacious reach of gun grabbers — think again.
British Shooting is disappointed that the sport of target shooting has not been included in the programme for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
It will be the first time since 1970 that shooting has not featured at the Games.
The initial announcement that shooting wouldn’t be included in the list of sports set to be represented at Birmingham 2022 came out two years ago. But since then, shooting governing bodies across the Commonwealth have worked hard to propose a plan that would be viable for all parties.
Following a consultation period, the ISSF, British Shooting, and other prominent shooting federations across the Commonwealth had hoped that the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Birmingham Organising Committee would be able to find a successful solution to include shooting sports in the 2022 programme.
The ISSF offered to contribute to the costs of shooting being included, while Bisley was suggested as the venue for shooting sports. This is same location used for the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games with great success.
However, the Commonwealth Games Federation today reaffirmed their initial announcement of shooting sports not being included.
Nothing here is surprising to anyone who witnessed the throttling of search terms like “Climategate”.

The “First Lady of American Cinema” Lillian Gish has had her name removed from a university theater and it’s not sitting well with many movie buffs. More than 50 film industry leaders ranging from Martin Scorsese to Helen Mirren to James Earl Jones are protesting the decision of Ohio’s Bowling Green State University to remove the name of actress Lillian Gish from a campus theater because she appeared in the 1915 film The Birth of a Nation.
The letter accuses the university of making “a scapegoat in a broader political debate.” Lillian Gish is considered a pioneer of film acting. Her career spanned 75 years, beginning in 1912 in silent film shorts. The Whales of August in 1987 was her last film. She was called the First Lady of American Cinema, and for more than 40 years, the theater at Bowling Green has honored Ohio-born actresses Dorothy and Lillian Gish with its name.
Ed Driscoll – [I]if we’re going to banish all the bad people of the past because of hurt feelings, when does early “Progressive” Woodrow Wilson face the memory hole, given that he was an enthusiastic proponent of Birth of a Nation, including screening it in the White House and proclaiming the film “is like writing history with lightning.”
