Calling Captain Dialogue!

Where is the Shiny One these days, anyway?

The rail barricade on a train bridge over Wellington Street [Montreal] comes after hereditary chiefs and senior ministers of the federal and British Columbia governments struck a proposed agreement on land rights.

The group behind the protest, called Southwest Solidarity With Wet’suwet’en, said in a statement the action is due to the presence of RCMP and the Coastal GasLink pipeline on the territory in northern B.C.

“We are blocking this rail line in response to the call from Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs to support Indigenous sovereignty and in recognition of the urgency of stopping resource extraction projects threatening future generations,” said Sara Mullins, a participant in the protest.

Socialism flows in only one direction;

French police fired water cannon and tear gas at angry firefighters – some who set themselves on fire during demonstrations. Fire brigade unions are demanding better pay and conditions and organised the demonstration in the capital’s Place de la Republique to bring attention to their cause today. They want a pay rise of 25% arguing their work is made increasingly difficult due to staff cuts and attacks against them. Paris police said firefighters who tried to break down or scale fencing near the Nation area of the city were dispersed by water cannon.

Wexit Saskatchewan

A new provincial party takes shape.

In a livestream announcement on the VoteWexit.com Facebook Group, lead
registration coordinator, Eric Wall has announced that the application for
official party registration was delivered to Elections Saskatchewan late
last week.

The efforts involved in the registration process managed to gather nearly
1,100 more signatures than what was required to apply – the total signature
count for the application was 3, 599.

Wall also stated that the application process should be complete within a
couple weeks and the official word should be posted on the Elections
Saskatchewan website after the approval has been given.

Engineer…

The National Transportation Safety Board has discovered that the man who was killed in a crash involving a Tesla SUV was playing a game on his phone at the time of the crash.

The man was identified as Apple engineer Walter Huang.

The NTSB said Huang was on his phone playing a game while the vehicle’s autopilot system was engaged. The SUV swerved and hit a concrete barrier on the freeway in Mountain View, California, in March 2018.

Energy advocacy in a world of energy ignorance – countering the fear narrative one step at a time

The hydrocarbon industry is under siege, outfoxed by clever tacticians that Trojan-horsed the environmental movement and made it into the formidable political climate-change beast that today envelops us like a fog. No harm at all in fighting for the environment, that should be encouraged, but it’s a totally different game as a political chess match. And the first piece to be sacrificed is the petroleum sector, a lumbering easy target that never got the hang of the PR wars. Read on…
