So Why Is He Still Defense Minister?

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan has apologized to Canadian, American and Afghan troops that he served with in Afghanistan for claiming that he was the “architect” of Canada’s most famous and bloodiest combat operation of that war.
The minister made the claim in a speech last week in India.

Not just last week.

Who does he think he is – Minister of Democratic Institutions?

This will be interesting.

If you report to Parliament people might hear about some of the issues facing our soldiers.
That’s a problem because it makes it much more difficult to bury the bad news.

But Walbourne went so far as to suggest Sajjan is part of the problem.
He said the defence minister’s “nebulous” response to two recent ombudsman’s reports is emblematic of his overall approach to the office.
Over the past six months, Walbourne has called for better support for cadets who are hurt in uniform, and for the military to keep injured personnel in the fold until their veterans’ benefits are lined up.

Things that make you go, hmm.

This doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

“The Chief of the Defence Staff has temporarily relieved the VCDS, Vice-Admiral Mark Norman, from the performance of military duty,” Lieutenant-Colonel Jason Proulx, spokesman for Gen. Vance, said.
“For the time being, he will not be carrying out the functions of VCDS. Vice-Admiral Ron Lloyd has been appointed as the interim vice-chief of the defence staff.”

The Warthog

Off the endangered list:

The Air Force Material Command (AFMC) is bringing the A-10 depot line responsible for A-10 maintenance and repair back to full capacity. Despite announcements that the Air Force would being retiring the A-10 in 2018 AFMC chief Gen. Ellen Pawlikowski recently told Aviation Week that they plan to keep the A-10 in the air “indefinitely.”
The Warthog is currently the only Air Force plane being used for the sole purpose of close-air support (CAS). The U.S. military relies heavily on (CAS) in the battle against ISIS in both Iraq and Syria. The iconic GAU-8 Avenger 30-millimeter gatling gun found at the nose of the aircraft and its “low and slow” flying capabilities have made it an invaluable resource for missions against ISIS.

I don’t know why I have a soft spot in my heart for this aircraft. I just do.

The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

The modern multicultural super-tolerant western state of this century takes stock of its strongest point, and decides that it’s not the old industrial machine, which destroys the environment, its traditional heritage, which is problematic, or its problem solving skills, which are too technical, but its values of super-tolerant multiculturalism. And so it wages war on those insane terms.
