Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

We need a cool new Nork customization for “Shock & Awe”.
“Heavenly Disturbance and Wonderment” – I know, but they would get it.
Can’t wait for it to catch on.
Having UN peacekeepers (China, in one has forgotten, sits permanently on the UN security council) in North Korea to rape girls is a great way to ensure that North Koreans go back to the same old.
Nope.
After North Korea crumbles (and it will even though China, its owner, doesn’t want it to), can it re-join South Korea or will it be a separate but democratic state?
Osumashi Kinyobe >
“can it re-join South Korea or will it be a separate but democratic state?”
I doubt anyone has the true answer for that. No doubt that our intellectual betters will have all sorts of Social engineering models someone else made up to draw from.
I suspect that “integration” wouldn’t be far from the results in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down, warts & all, although culture and economic factors verses military overthrow are certainly huge variables.
Who can really know 100%?
If the MSM and western intelligence can be trusted to tell us the truth, then there is no choice but to defend against an openly aggressive nuclear dictatorship threatening the west.
Sobering stuff.
I differ on the ‘occupation’ issues. No way the Americans will be allowed into NK by the Chinese. The role of the US and its allies will be to end the regime and disarm it and minimize/prevent casualties to SK. China’s role will be being the occupier. What is a wildcard is what SK would do if the NK regime is ended. Will SK ignore the requests of the US and let China now be the opponent north of the DMZ? Hard to say.
You may not be very interested in war,but war is very interested in you.
If the MSM and western intelligence can be trusted to tell us the truth
Ha, dream on!
Robert of Ottawa >
“Ha, dream on!”
Precisely why we should always step carefully when told what’s in “everyone’s” best interest, who is good, who is bad etcetera………..
The general rule of thumb is, whatever the Liberal Left wants, do the opposite.
I’ve asked Koreans that and the default answer is always reunification.
Perhaps it is possible and that the experience would be a more extreme form of Germany.
Cheers.
“default answer is always reunification….. the experience would be a more extreme form of Germany”
Sounds the most likely, I doubt China wants anything more than cheaply supplied mineral resources from North Korea regardless of who is in charge there.
Cheers 🙂
It would be a damn shame if NK collapsed. I get a kick out of those Stalinist parades. It’s like time capsule come to life. A time macine back to Moscow in the 70s.
China has been, at great cost, expanding it’s land area.(I won’t waste my time giving examples)
North Korea would become the newest peninsular Chinese province and China would take whatever they wanted.
South Korea would be renamed “Korea”.
I suspect Trump told the Chinese to move in and take over or the USA would have to. NK has always been a radical Chinese surrogate but now it has lost its purpose. China is more interested in hiving off South Korea and the Philippines from American influence than anything else.
Big stakes in SE Asia. I hope Trump is on his game.
“default answer is always reunification….. the experience would be a more extreme form of Germany” To borrow Knight 99’s quote.
Osumashi, exactly. Unification would be tough as there are a couple of generations of people whose brains are messed up from sixty plus years of brainwashing.
Ken (Kulak)
Not my quote, just reiterating & agreeing with Osumashi’s original quote.
“can it re-join South Korea or will it be a separate but democratic state?”
I am afraid that whatever survives will be a failed state for decades. They would need to overcome all the indoctrination, see their former masters as their oppressors and see their new conquerers as liberators. Much easier said than done.
That is one of the more seriously confusing links I’ve tried to follow in quite some time. Gave up after the third attempt.
Re-Unification will not happen. I’m more with OZ above. The DMZ will most likely remain but will be renamed. (Is there a contest in the renaming somewhere?) The Chinese will want to maintain a buffer between them and anything democratic as they have with the salt water between them and Taiwan. I see the leader that met with Trump being turned out to pasture so to speak, in the near future and China can get on with current issues like the islands in the South China Sea.
North Korea is on it’s last legs but China will have all of the cards and will play them in due time. And the result will only compliment China.
The war will be remarkably short and North Korea will cease to exist – but in a much different form. Hewers of water and the like? Probably! Iran will have to find some other friends until the lines of subterranean communications with China can be established.
Don’t think of Hong Kong! They were well developed and successful and a window on the west. North Korea? Umbrellas as in Downtown Pyongyang, May2, 2017?
“It would be a damn shame if NK collapsed.”
Not at all. South Australia wouldn’t have to share the title of “Darkest Place on Earth” with the buggers anymore.
CRB >
“The war will be remarkably short and North Korea will cease to exist -”
Yes, short maybe, it’s always easy to forget about US Military & UN Lawyers not interested in “winning” wars.
Then as far as refugee’s you can bank on both China and South Korea pointing guns in their direction (Holding them back) whilst Justin Trudeau promises to spend 30 billion dollars in refugee aid and inviting 2 million immediately into Canada if they promise to convert to Islam, ok maybe Islam later.
Then what about terrorism and “dirty bombs” or something akin?
Any bets that North Korea hasn’t utilized 50 years of Open Borders to plant fanatical agents in North American strategic locations/positions? They’ve worked covertly very well in Japan over the years, why not North America, even in the last 10 years.
Can’t rule it out.
China is already an occupier of sorts. North Korea is often referred to as China’s vassal state and it is true. China really thinks that North Korea belongs to it. For China to officially occupy North Korea would destroy what remains of that country and its people.
Knight99: No, China truly believes that the Korean Peninsula belongs to it. China must be removed from this equation. Anything else would mean that new terms have been added to the status quo. No more of that crap.
Ken (Kulak): some North Koreans already know that they’ve been cheated by their despots, as I’m sure the Germans knew. They may be more receptive to the idea of reunification (which is a default answer there, too!).
Colonialista: and yet the Germans were able to achieve reunification. If it is not possible, would there be a separate yet democratic state? As the Koreans aren’t inbred yahoos and North Korea CAN produce its own food, its status as a failed state is not as clear-cut as -oh, let’s say – the Palestinian region.
Yes, Chinas elite views any occupation of NK as nothing more than free organ donors.
What’s currently saving NK from Chinese invasion is that it already has plenty of free organ donors, but limited foreign slaves working the fields and mines of North Korea.
“Why buy the cow when your getting the milk for free”
**the proxy “bad guy” distraction for the west is a bonus.
This is why people should stop expecting China to “fix” the North Korea problem. It’s part of the problem.
Osumashi Kinyobe >
Agree 100%.
I also believe that the “Evil Russian” campaign by the MSM and our Liberal Progressive betters, mainly in the EU, but from everywhere in the west is based on misdirection and distraction from China along with the Middle East than on fact.
Americans will treat the North Koreans as they did the Okinawans.
Korea will eventually be unified, as was Vietnam.
Korea will then undercut Chinese manufacturers with well trained/disciplined humbots and become a new world power.
Korea will then produce more great movies like ‘The Host’:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaxwv1rndPI
And hope they don’t literally eat themselves to death once food aid kicks-in (as for Nazi concentration camp inmates).
BTW, I’m sure the patriotic MSM will keep its mouth shut if there is some preventative military action undertaken if it’s leaked to them.
/sarc
Why would the popular press really care about North Koreans? They’re part and parcel of Hollywood’s “make China happy” campaign.
Maikeru, the “Sympathy for …” movies by Park Chan-Wook are musts-sees.
So, Europe is being burned to the ground by muslims, Saudi-funded Muslims have murdered thousands of Americans, antifa commies are running wild all over the western hemisphere… but the Norks are the threat.
That’s some powerful koolaid y’all got there….and a giant squirrel.
YeahWell…
And of course the Russians don’t forget.
Although, the Norks may very well be a threat (who friggen knows anymore), we need to hear what CNN and Justin thinks about it all first. Got Carbon tax?
I think the Russians are the only white folk who have not succumbed to Frankfurt School PC BS, despite what Colon-man and his ilk think.
As far as what Justin and CNN think, I’ll be that much smarter if I never find out.
YeahWell…
Well if “white” was ever allowed to have an aboriginal homeland it started somewhere around the vicinity of the Black Sea, and will probably end there as well.
I like to think that if we go down, we take the rest of the planet with us.
YeahWell…
That’s the decision that the Liberal left and the rest of the takers have made.
YeahWell >
No worries, worst case scenario – war, blight, famine aka: the normal conditions of the human experience, will always produce the “conservative” side of the rebuilding process.
That said the genetics of Beethoven, Einstein & Newton will always rise to the top. Everyone knows it, although no one says it openly “political correctness” (I have heard this in friendly conversation from many people of many racial backgrounds on several continents in my many travels over my lifetime).
Everyone else knows and believes it.
I disagree.
They are taking us down, yes, but only us.
The next war is going to be pretty intense. Each century outdoes the last in terms of horror, and the left are sowing the wind. Canada is just a wee bit behind Europe and the USA, but the threshold here too, is being approached.
As I see it, in Europe, the last-ditched effort to save things will be the election of right-wing populists, who will likely betray their mandates, and then war.
In the USA, it’s the betrayal by Trump, then perhaps an Article V COS, then war.
People will only swallow so much.
Heh, the sooner the better.
Us is a big deal, we don’t go down easily regardless of propaganda.
Of course the next war will be intense, they always are, but that’s what separates the Natural Selection. I have no doubts as to who will rise to the top and who will not.
Are the desert dwellers going to run the Northern Winter wonderlands, I don’t think so. Will the Chinese habitat a North American insurgency, pretty unlikely, look at the pathetic US attempts to control Iran and Afghanistan.
The biggest fear we have is a nuclear holocaust of our own making, poisoning the Northern Hemisphere with Nuclear fallout, land and oceans. it’s why the rich are moving their “second homes” to New Zealand.
Germans achieved unification in a peaceful way with commies voluntarily giving up. I don’t see that happening in NK.
Besides, there is one more variable to consider. The way this communist state functions is similar but probably even more extreme than soviets at the height of Stalinism. There is no meaningful opposition, there is no organization that offers an alternative to the state. Everyone watches everyone, everyone tells on everyone and everyone collaborates with the state in order to survive (think 1984 or Equilibrium without the organized opposition and you will not be that far). So suppose that communism ends. How do you dismantle this state apparatus? How can you expect that things will be normal given decades of insane cruelty that was a norm for this state to operate? How many communists get killed? Everyone is to an extent a communist because they don’t know better but also they do not have a choice. How do you right the wrongs? How do you tell victims not to exact revenge on their torturers? How do you draw the line between a victim and a torturer when so many are both?
It would appear that the article over thinks things. When the structure that supports the firing of any missiles is completely destroyed and the manpower has been completely eliminated, NK falls and only NK. Artillery will have no effect on ordinance dropped form 50,000 feet with pinpoint accuracy.
Korean reunification (and no matter what the Chinese want, the end result of NK’s fall will be a reunification, eventually) will be an order of magnitude harder than German reunification. The country is beyond a basket case, economically. It’s about as close to a zero as you can get. The populace is malnourished, undereducated, and has been cut off from the outside world for decades. Those starving ignorant masses will have very little hope of integrating into anything resembling a modern economy for a long time. Years. Decades. The South Korean regime can’t possibly support them all. It might even collapse their own economy trying to do so.
I think whatever comes out of North Korea’s fall is going to have to be a quasi-military jurisdiction run by a triumvirate of USA, SK, and China, bad as that partnership will go. Tight border controls while some kind of economy & education are established. The US and SK’s eventual goal will be democratic reunification, obviously. China’s won’t be; they’ll want .. something else. I’m not entirely sure what their end game will be. The Koreans will STRONGLY resist coming under Chinese rule, that much is certain. Way too long a history there for Koreans, North or South, to acquiesce in becoming any kind of Chinese territory.
This has been a problem a long time brewing, a long time spent hoping it would kind of work itself out, by all parties, and it’s going to hit the fan sooner rather than later.
n korea represents the essence of communism. the final end result of the writings of marx and the machinations of lenin, stalin, mao and kim il sung.
generations under the watchful eye, n Koreans have no other ‘normal’ reference point.
fixing the mess begins with an enormous military operation which my spider senses tell me has already been worked out and is only fine tuned as satellite images etc come available.
– stab them in the eyes, ie knock out the radar
– smash their hands with a sledge hammer, ie knock out their anti-aircraft capability
– turn their fighter bases into swiss cheese
– in the mean time, send waves of cruise missiles to demolish the openings of any tunneled equipment
– that’s just the beginning.
– now send thousands of simultaneous coordinated sorties to bomb and strafe any sort of remaining capability, focusing on those installations near the DMZ.
– rinse and repeat
it is idiocy bordering on psychotic delusion for current n Korean administration to believe any other outcome will occur.
Now that Trump has called North Korea’s bluff and they laughed at him, ne must go through with some kind of military action or he will be no better than Obama!
