I Want A New Country

Danielle Smith is making some news.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she’s open to having a “conversation” with her fellow premiers about rewriting parts of the constitution relating to Indigenous treaty rights.

Smith told reporters on Friday that Section 35 of the constitution, which governs Crown-Indigenous relations, has been stretched beyond recognition by the courts.

She said that an Alberta judge’s decision earlier this month to throw out a petition for a binding referendum, on the grounds that the province failed to meet its duty to consult with First Nations, was a prime example of this overreach.

CBC: Leaders across the political spectrum are responding today to news that Alberta’s fall referendum will now decide whether Albertans want a vote on separatism.

Nenshi eh… responds.

  1. There are no parts of the Constitution of Canada that I support. It doesn’t guarantee our rights won’t be trampled on by gov’t, and that’s the major offender of rights violations around the world.
I don’t support “race based law” … it’s an offense to being equal before the law for all people.
The Constitution of Canada doesn’t treat individual provinces equally, with the Atlantic provinces being stand-out examples for Senate abolishion.
The clause allowing amending is ridiculous.
I think Alberta should separate, and tier 2 Canada can spend the next +150 years bickering as to how to make it fair after we’ve separated. I don’t care how they deal with it then.

    1. It’s worse than that, particularly the opening part

“Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:”

      Get that?
Founded on principles but no where in this document does it state what those principles are, but whatever they are they equate Gods law (natural law) with man’s law (legal fiction). Basically divine right of kings.

  2. “Nenshi really is Alberta’s boogeyman”
It took me a minute to get it, but good one Keean Bexte.

  3. Hey Alberta! LEAVE! Just STOP sending taxes to your Federal government, coordinate a new pipeline with the Trump Admin. And just BE an independent nation. Sell your oil to whomever you want.

After all that’s what the Biden Admin. did … they simply STOPPED obeying and enforcing our laws … they defacto erased our border. The city of LA is simply CHOOSING to allow the homeless, and drugs, and crime spiral out of control. It’s a CHOICE.

CHOOSE Independence. Ignore the broken Canadian Constitution and Laws.

  4. good grief those iN Deep Pees sure pick (pun intended) ‘winners’.
this one, this one, l actually find REPULSIVE. a brand new lowwwwww. (think ominous deep rumbling sound)

  5. those in favour of secession, and act towards it need to LOCK IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE HEADS that ALL the BS nonsense ottawa[s] and its cheerleaders need to be IGNORED every time they ‘trot out’ any crapola like this hampering the referendum, hampering ‘D-Day’ hampering the NEWEST nation on earth.
troc needs to GET IT IN ITS HEAD, the level of fairness, cooperation, observation of democratic principles will go A LONG WAY FOSTERING FUTURE COOPERATION. you wanna keep ‘beating up the west’ THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES. or ‘mind yer own bizznizz, ya let kaybeck do pretty much what they wanted.
ya still do. goose, gander, etc. BACK OFF ottawa !!!!ufts this is AB’s issue and at this point ONLY AB’s issue.
it will include you ONLY after a successful referendum to ‘iron out the details when it is decided and INEVITABLE separation’.

p.s. when in H-E-L-L was there EVER an independence movement when EVERYBODY was ‘happy’??
hmmm? so FNs arent ‘calling the shots exerting veto power’ TOO %&$^#?!@ g.d. BAD isnt it.

  6. “Don’t feed the bears, they become dependent!” We have heard that a lot in the last few years. So we’ve been feeding the FN’s for the better part of 150 years, I won’t quibble about a decade or two either way, but the bottom line is the FN’s have been on the receiving end of taxpayer largesse since Canada became a nation. As long as they receive the largesse there is little incentive to assimilate into Canadian culture, that is a fact of life. Now the Canadian government has been hell-bent on expanding the largesse to additional foreign cultures that also have no intention of assimilating and are quite content to demand our compassion and benevolence. It is well past time for some segment of Western society to say enough is enough, hopefully that segment exists in Alberta. It is well past time to take back the society that was envisaged by the minds that produced the Great Enlightenment and the American Constitution. Minds that understood that for a society to flourish there must be freedom and a desire to be productive, without which we are relegated to the dust-bin of history as other great societies have exemplified.

    1. Well now, are the feathers starting to realize that the dots are starting to outnumber them??…Saskatoon is starting to resemble Jalalabad, Mumbladesh, Muslimohbad in a very big way these days.

Wonder when Bobby Cameron and the boys at the FSIN will start to get their feathers up?!

  7. But here’s the kicker……the duty to consult is for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. After all, we are told time and time again that the treaties are between Canada (false, actually it is the British Crown) and the FN. There is absolutely NOTHING that the FN need to be consulted about. It is all conjecture and absolute nonsense.

  8. FILTHY LIBERALS
I’m old enough to remember that Blacks have been used by the KKK Democrats and are being culturally destroyed by Democrats and their Islamo Commie Marxist Policies at the same time.

This will never end. South Africa Used our Indian Act to create Apartheid.
Apartheid is alive and well in Kanada
The Provinces are not the “Crown” when it comes to Indians.
I am so tired of Fake Indian Empathy and the FILTHY LIBERALS that spew this vile crap.
Nobody gave 2 thoughts about Indians when I grew up. I’m 57. Not until FILTHY LIBERALS found their usefulness.

Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, they make great pets
      The Homeless make great pets
      The LGBTQueers make great pets
Drug addicts on the streets, they make great pets

      Demoncraps love their pets

  9. I am patiently waiting to see the result of the October referendum question on whether Albertans care enough to have another vote on independence.
Until then, speculation is a waste of time.

  10. Damn..forbidden words?
    Longwinded comment just went pouff.
    short version..
Alberta Independence has enough support to win a binding referendum today.
About 30% of Albertans who vote, support Independence for Basket Case Canada.
The 30% of Albertans who never vote, will turn out to tell Ottawa where to go.
About half of the remaining 40% will vote against Can Ahh Duh,when the referendum is shaped that way.

And the current leaders of our Parasitic Overload know this.
Otherwise their current actions make no sense at all.
For,if their media was telling the truth, with a mere 25% supporting an Independent Alberta..
    Why the hystronics?
Just have that vote and put Western Alienation to bed..
The riders on the gravey train are facing starvation, hence delay, deny, delay…

  11. Quebec had two Separation Referendii with nominal interference from the bench or the pols:
smart bet is on the trend for Alberta’s future:

Quebec Separation Referendum May 20th 1980
… “The Government of Quebec has made public its proposal to negotiate a new agreement with the rest of Canada, based on the equality of nations; this agreement would enable Quebec to acquire the exclusive power to make its laws, levy its taxes and establish relations abroad – in other words, sovereignty – and at the same time to maintain with Canada an economic association including a common currency; any change in political status resulting from these negotiations will only be implemented with popular approval through another referendum; on these terms, do you give the Government of Quebec the mandate to negotiate the proposed agreement between Quebec and Canada?”

    No _ 2,187,991: 59.56%
    Yes 1,485,852: 40.44%
    Voter turnout: 4,367,584 _ 85.6%

Quebec Separation Referendum October 30th 1995:
… “Do you agree that Quebec should become sovereign after having made a formal offer to Canada for a new economic and political partnership within the scope of the bill respecting the future of Quebec and of the agreement signed on June 12, 1995?”

    No 2,362,648: 50.58%
    Yes 2,308,360: 49.42%
    Voters turnout: 5,087,009 _ 93.52%

  12. Flaccid cowardly non-committal non-binding half measures are not what is needed. Stop asking permission. Assert your Rights with force. Act as if. Take control. Grow a set. Jesus effin Christ!

  13. Just a word to the wise leaders of our glorious national elites, you don’t make people want to stay by tightening your grip on their lapels, and breathing your dog breath into their faces harder as you swear at them louder.

What happens when you do that, dear elites, is that the guy you have a grip on takes his jacket off and picks up a bat. Human nature, boys. Can’t get around it. However it all turns out in the end, buddy is going to take his best swing.

You’d think, these boys being the smartest in the room and all, that they’d know that and act accordingly. But it seems not.
