This was a given

You have a collision at sea, your career is pretty much done.

Cmdr. Bryce Benson, commander of the Fitzgerald, and Cmdr. Sean Babbitt, the ship’s second-in-command, were fired from their positions because the Navy “lost trust and confidence in their ability to lead,” Adm. William F. Moran, the vice chief of naval operations, told reporters.
The pair were among about a dozen sailors on the destroyer, including the top enlisted sailor, who could face discipline for the June 17 collision with the Philippine-flagged merchant vessel ACX Crystal about 50 nautical miles southwest of the Japanese port of Yokosuka.

Those service members in Halifax

The military needs to curb-stomp these members. Drunk, young, Twitter generation, whatever, the lessons apparently need to be taught again that you don’t have the same rights as civilians when you enlist.
You are not allowed to be political when in the military and for damned good reasons. You have the right of your anonymous vote to voice your politics.
Edit: Because I actually was in the military, and I actually read the QR&Os I’ll provide a link to one of the relevant orders.

Walk Softly and Carry a C15.

Firearms may be frowned upon in Canada but we know how to train people to shoot the excellent weapons that the Americans make. The C15 is a McMillan Tac-50

A sniper with Canada’s elite special forces in Iraq has shattered the world record for the longest confirmed kill shot in military history at a staggering distance of 3,450 metres.

Three and a half kilometres. Wow. Buy that man a beer!

1812, revisited, Sabres and Smoke

A Western student is making a somewhat non-traditional (in that you overlay terrain onto the map, creating a variable board) hex-grid board-game based on the War of 1812.
If you’re interested, Sabres and Smoke just launched the Kickstarter campaign.
Meanwhile in my war-gaming efforts I’m stalled on the Battle of Chickamauga in Ultimate General: Civil War. I need to do more research on the battle because right now the damned Rebs are kicking my arse.
